This is our third purchase with Lijah at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. After years with Culligen and another business who were both failing at getting the iron and water softeners to work with our well water, Lijah installed a system that is working beautifully for our large family. This purchase was to replace the 20+ year old 50 gallon hot water tank. We now have endless hot water, soft water, and iron free water!! Lijah was smart, patient beyond belief with working in a very full storage room in the basement, installed everything in a logical and practical location, and very carefully cleaned up everything!!! Mary at the answer center/secretary/ who has to answer in a poem, is very polite and always listens carefully. Many people cited Benjamin Franklin Plumbing as being expensive, but their estimates were within $25 of the three other companies I had contacted, and lower than two of them! The actual cost was also several hundred less than the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing estimate. So with prices, it is a win-win situation. Cody came out to perform a flushing of my on-demand water heater and the corresponding 14(?)-pt inspection of the rest of the plumbing in the house. He is very approachable, and willing to answer and help with whatever I could come up with, including random questions about my ice maker and hot tub! I really enjoyed working with him and let him talk me into installing a water softener I guess I needed. He and fellow plumber Cruse came out less than a week later to do the install. Again, another decent experience but when you are running behind from a previous job (which they did call a couple times to let me know about) - definitely would have liked the chance to reschedule, if I had known the install would take over 3+ hours, including an hour of just running water through the new system. So just let people know the anticipated amount of time you expect to be with them, if you are trying complete all the jobs scheduled that day - if you are not going to finish until 11pm! However, again these are 2 good guys, I didn't mind spending the time with them, it was just late. read more

My technician, Cody R. was fabulous. He helped with two toilets that were not working properly and replaced a valve on a pipe. He was very professional, informative and went out of his way to make sure I had a good understanding of the issues. I would give Benjamin Franklin 5-stars, however, they were very late in arriving. I had called in at 7:30am and was told someone would be there at 2:30, but asked if they got ahead of schedule, could someone come earlier. I said anytime after 10:30 would work great. I called back at 3:30 and 4:30 and was told I was next on the list. The technician did not arrive until after 5:15 and said his notes said, "anytime after 2:30" - this is NOT what I was told on the phone when I called in. Our water had to be off the entire day - and into the evening because of the leaky pipe. I would have called a different plumber if I had been told that someone would try to be there at 2:30, but it could be as late as 5:30. None of this was Cody's fault and he did a terrific job! read more

I could not be happier with these guys. I had to have them come out twice (not their fault - I hired a lady to clean my bathrooms and she flushed a WHOLE tub of Lysol wipes down the toilets) and the first time was on a Sunday. They were able to work me into a booked day and didn't charge me the "Emergency" rate. They thought the problem was fixed and to their credit, it should have been. But a couple days later, my system clogged up again from the wipes they couldn't reach the first time. They were back in a jiffy and explained everything they were going to do in terms I could understand, with tools to fix the problem for good. Cody came to the rescue! Upon having issues with Master Plumbing we were left with a non functioning kitchen sink after a countertop remodel. I called Benjamin Franklin after hearing about them from a coworker. I wish they would have been my first call. Cody came in and got us working 100% the same day I called. The only issue with hiring a big company like this as opposed to an independent contractor is that there is no wiggle room for pricing...pricing is dictated from higher up and the service pro's don't have much say in that. Woke up on Sunday morning with no hot water. I tried relighting the pilot on a 13 year old gas water heater with no success. I remembered Ben Franklin ads from mailings and found contact info using local phone book (old school!). Their dispatcher was courteous and Lance the plumber called and came to diagnose the issue within a couple hours. He was clear in discussing the advantage/disadvantages of different options for water heater replacement. He then drove ~30 min back to his warehouse to get my chosen water heater and had it installed and working great in a couple of hours. Great professional service! read more

Lijah did a great job for me repairing my leaking shower. He was personable and clean, mindful of the floors and carpet and cleaned up everything after. He explained the problem, showed me all the options with pricing so I could decide how I wanted to proceed. I am very satisfied with the work and will definitely use this company again. All plumbing work is expensive, but I like that Lijah showed me all the options upfront and I especially like that weekend hours are the same rate as all others. Cody came out as planned on a Saturday afternoon to examine, and ultimately replace by water heater. He called ahead as promised to let me know he was en route. I enjoyed conducting business with him. He's very personable and knowledgeable. He explained issues and products. The service is fine, so far so good. It is a little pricey, however, I also prize service quality and, due to my schedule, availability. We had a problem re installing a toilet after the flood. It had been loose since we moved in and I had been meaning to tighten the flange bolts. When I tried to put in a new seal I couldn't get the bolts to tighten. Lijah noticed that a spacer (probably) added when tile was installed was rotated from the correct position and thus the hole was in the wrong place for one of the bolts. He installed a new spacer ring and that solved the problem. He showed up on time on a day that I know he was probably busy with lots of post flood work. read more

I had and issue that needed immediate attention and BF went above and beyond to not only educate me but also replace my hot water heater within 2 hours of my call! All I can say is, WOW!! I had run a finishing nail through a pipe, which was located behind a brick wall I had just finished. Lance gave me the bad news that I had to cut in to that freshly built wall so he could fix the pipe. Once I came to terms with what I had to do, I cut the wall and had Doug bring him back to fix my mess. Lance was back and had the pipe fixed in less time than it took me to cut the wall out in the first place! Thanks for the quick response and professional job. The plumbers were nice and very good at their job, however, the pricing felt expensive. The quote for removing and reinstalling two vanities and removing and reinstalling two toilets seemed reasonable. They said I would pay for the removal half that day and pay the other half of the invoice after install. The original quote for work was just under $1,300 and I ended up paying a total of just under $2,200. They did great work but I feel like something wasn't right. read more

Cody was out the other day to clear my floor drain. Cody arrived in a timely manner and went straight to work on the drain. Cody had to make several trips to his truck and every time he came in he put on shoe covers as to not get anything on my carpet. Mike showed up on time and unclogged my sink and replaced some pipes that would have eventually caused me a big problem. He cleaned up under the sink well and gave me some tips on how to keep the pipes from clogging up again. Of course, I didn't plan on the expense, but now I have an unclogged drain and I'm very happy to be able to use my kitchen sink again. read more
