Wonderful B&B - Can't Wait to Go Back! There are SO many reasons why this charming inn has risen to the very top of my favorite Provincetown Inn's. I truly think that the top distinguishing factor is that the Swiss owners, Dan and Daniel - are extremely hands on and have supervised every last detail to make this Inn sheer perfection. First of all - by square footage - their rooms are highly comparable to most inn's in the area - and even a bit bigger than many for the price. Size doesn't tell the whole story - of course. Their rooms are immaculately clean - so lovely and smartly designed - with ample storage space throughout. The color scheme is warm and modern. Their linens are lux Turkish cotton. Each room has smart controls for temperature - and come with a ceiling fan for extra versatility. The fixtures and hardware in the rooms - and throughout the Inn - feel substantial and elegant. The artwork and little touches throughout the Inn are charming, elegant and invocative of the Cape. Breakfasts are served in their terrific dining room. Guests can take their breakfast back to their room or eat in the dining room or outside on the lush patio with other guests. Their outdoor patio is a lovely setting, with substantial, inviting seating, delightful bistro lighting. Beach towels are provided, and sun screens are gratis and readily available for selection / guest use. So many thoughtful touches. Ample European style breakfasts consisted of three types of cereals, two homemade breads, three homemade fruit spreads, fresh fruits (strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, bananas, apples, etc.), nuts, prunes, yogurts, fresh milk and cream, juices, eggs, fresh cooked pastries, cheeses and meats, wonderful teas and amazing Jura coffee (one of the best machines in the world ... from Switzerland). I felt so energized after each breakfast - and Provincetown takes energy ... walking, exploring, shopping. This Inn was so conveniently located as well - steps away from Commercial Street ... and steps away from Bradford. If I needed any items ... I could easily walk to Far Lands or the little convenience shop off of Commercial. On-site parking was so easy - and Dan and Daniel were always around to coordinate arrivals and departures. And unlike some Inn's - the hosts didn't disappear during the day time. They were on-site, hands-on, and exceptionally warm and welcoming. I unequivocally recommend this Inn and give it my highest rating. I also can't wait to book my return trip. read more

We just stayed here last night. Room 4. Absolutely fabulous. Ask to see if it's available. You get water views from the room and your own entrance from the outside. The room has literally everything you need from Wi-Fi to bathroom essentials and a wet bar with a Keurig. That said , the coffee downstairs in the dining area is incredible. Espresso is top notch. Opens at 8 AM but you can walk down to a couple coffee shops that are like 500 yards away. The inn is stunning and the friendliest , most helpful innkeepers around. Anything you need just ask. Breakfast is home made and fantastic. I can't say enough about this place. Perfect location and perfect experience. We will be back soon! read more

My wife and I return each year to The Benchmark and always leave refreshed and happy. From Daniel meeting us at The Ferry for a pick up and drive across town to the great restaurant choices and reservations he makes, everything is terrific. Daniel and Dan (plus Don) are terrific hosts and have a great knowledge of the town. Their recommendations of where to go are an added benefit. We stay in the Penthouse and the room is immaculate with stunning views from our balcony. Breakfast in the garden is an added treat. Daniel always greets us at the Pier by saying, "Welcome Home", and we have always felt at home here. Can't wait to return ! read more

Best Location, cleanliness, and best nights rest in Provincetown. The location is fantastic! We had a car but it's not necessary. The customer service is very hands on directly from the owner; who was always available. Even moved our vehicle when we slept in and a guest was checking out. The staff is amazing (particularly Daniel, who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and extra special on my birthday) , the views are incredible (especially from Room 7 - it has semi-private deck with ocean and Pilgrim Monument views), it's quiet but a very short walk to Commercial Street... I am a picky person to please, but I can honestly say that Dan and Daniel run a tight ship and have every little detail covered. After staying at another B&B and seeing other accommodations around town, I can tell you from experience, that The Benchmark Inn does literally that, sets the benchmark high. From Daniel's authentic Swiss pastries (fresh baked everyday) and the European espresso/ coffee machine (I had several dopios everyday/ ALL DAY LONG), to the cleanliness and design detail of the room, there is no component of one's stay that is not thought through and addressed. This is an amazing place to stay when visiting P-Town. Small B&B with only six rooms which make it such an intimate place, almost like home. Nice and updated rooms with anything you could ask for regarding amenities. All rooms have a small outdoor space. The two friendly hosts, Daniel&Dan make you feel special even before you´ve arrived by sending you an email and ask if you need to be picked up. They also welcome you upon arrival and make a nice introduction to their place and to P-Town. They also make sure you have the best tips/plans for dinners/lunches. We took a road trip across New England and ended in Provincetown at the Benchmark Inn. The theme of our road trip was B&B. Wow was this the best place we stayed! The hosts were exceptional. Not only excellent and accommodating, but warm, genuine, and super interesting. That added a special touch to our last night. What a surprise! We work in high-end luxury hospitality/hotels so slightly high maintenance :) We booked this last min and did not expect much for the reasonable price point we paid on on th labor day weekend, however we had a 5 star experience! Super comfy quality bed, linens, towels. Appreciated the private entrance and generous breakfast amenities. Dan was an exceptional warm, acommodating, and entertaining host insuring privacy, or on demand professional services as needed. My lady-friend and I had a weekend getaway in Provincetown where we stayed at the Benchmark. Overall, the trip was wonderful and the Benchmark played no small part in that. The new owners, Daniel and Daniel, are super-friendly, accommodating, and focused on making sure our stay was easy and comfortable. We had champagne waiting for us upon arrival, were given thoughtful restaurant and shopping recommendations (they will book any reservations for you), etc. etc. The view from our room overlooking the harbor was beautiful and the perfect place to eat the lovely breakfast they provide. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights this past June. We had a wonderful experience. Dan and Daniel were friendly and accommodating without being intrusive (which can sometimes happen at a small B&B). The breakfast was superb! We booked Room 7 because we read about the view and we weren't disappointed. From what we could tell Room 7 and the Penthouse were the only two will the full deck and panoramic views (which was important to us). If we go back (and I want to) we would probably get the pent house or a larger room. We were traveling with a lot of luggage so it was difficult to maneuver in the small space. That being said, if you're looking for a romantic space and a great view, Room 7 is lovely. You really can't go wrong at Benchmark! read more

I just returned home after a five night stay at the Benchmark Inn in Provincetown. This was my 8th trip to p-town, and this was by far the best place I have ever stayed there. Wonderful, understated, modern cape cod decor. The rooms and all of the common areas we meticulously clean. My room was incredibly spotless, with a comfortable bed and pillows, nice linens, a ceiling fan and central A/C to make for a restful nights sleep. The owner, Park, was incredibly friendly and yet unobtrusive at the same time. A great quiet location in the west end, a half block off of Commercial Street. Just a couple minutes walk to the center of town. I couldn't recommend this place enough for a great stay in town. read more

Took my partner here for a birthday weekend - absolutely loved it! The owners and the manager were so helpful answering questions before our visit, and in arranging to have flowers in the room when we arrived. The rooms are super clean and well-appointed - it's a really beautiful old house. The place is a short walk to the heart of Commercial Street, a shorter walk to the town beach, but tucked away on a quiet side street. Oh, and did I say the owners and Benji the manager are wonderful? They're wonderful. I left a couple of jackets behind when we left, and despite my offer to pay, they mailed them back to us at no charge. Our dog loved it, too - nice big, comfortable bed, so the humans didn't disturb his beauty rest; private entrance so he could come and go without bothering people (or getting stepped on); and the beaches are all close, with the town beach a 2 minute walk and race point a 5 minute drive from the Inn. We did bring a big blanket to protect the white beadspreads we saw in the room pics, although the owner has since told me they have old beach towels they could have loaned us. read more

This is a very cute B&B in Ptown. Very clean and doesnt have that creepy old dank feeling a lot of B&B can have. But I must say that unless you want your vacation managed by a staff who executes every detail with the most uptight of rules and regulations, don't choose Benchmark Inn. I had an altercation with the staff and owner over a "mandatory turn down service" in which wet clothes (from being caught in the rain) were taken off hangers and put in my suitcase with dry clothes..not once but twice. They completely ignored my request. Muzak plays at the pool, even when the entire group at the pool asked for it to be changed, we got a one-word, "No" All of the guests were joking about the obsessive-compulsive atmosphere with varying degrees of irritation. I overheard one of the employees telling a guest that they know where guests are at all time and exactly what we are doing! Creepy. I felt like a guest at an uptight person's house, not a paying customer. This place takes what could be a GREAT B&B and kills it with a boot camp atmosphere. And...its quite expensive. read more

We actually live in town, but stayed at the Benchmark Inn for the weekend while our we were having some renovations done. What a great place! Don (winter manager) was helpful and friendly to ensure we had a great stay. Room was nice and the fireplace and Jacuzzi tub was just what we needed to relax and enjoy our "staycation". My husband and I stayed at the Benchmark a few weekends ago. It was a beautiful little Inn with great room amenities. We love dthe Fireplace. The room we stayed in had a private entrance and a little balcony facing the beach. Benji the Inn Keeper was awesome and very accomodating. The best part was being able to bring our dog. I've spent many a night at Bed and Breakfasts across New England but I have not had the pleasure of being hosted by Dan and Daniel at the Benchmark Inn. Their warm, friendly personalities translate to the Inn itself and our comfort and needs were attended to with immediate and helpful responses. On my birthday, a knock on the door brought Daniel with a cold bottle of champagne and a bowl of nuts. The breakfasts are more of a gourmet sampling of pastries, cheeses, fruits homemade bread and granola, along with standard breakfast fare of eggs, coffee, toast and fantastic jams and jellies. The Benchmark Inn is located on the edge of downtown which means you're in walking distance of all that P-Town has to offer for the casual tourist. A+ read more
