However, the plum sauce had a strange aftertaste, and the ratatouille was average, and was not served fully hot. The service was rather brisk and curt, giving a feeling that they were rushing us to order. There was a desert menu but it was not offered, which reinforced the sense that they wanted us out in and out, fast. This restaurant seems to be geared to the American military clientele from the nearby base, not an elevated, authentic German restaurant for but more like a Spiesinder (dîner) with elevated prices.

The jagerschnitzel with dumplings is so far my favorite compared with any other restaurant. The mushrooms gravy is wonderful and I could have eaten their dumplings for days. They have a cauliflower soup that you really must try. It is so rich and creamy. The only thing I didn't care for was the poppy seed cake. There really isn't much out there but it's a nice stopping off point as you pass through. The drive to it is beautiful. They have outdoor seating and the building itself is right up against a sheep farm which is great for entertaining the kiddos. It is a popular place with the bikers as well.
