One thing I absolutely Love is they have 2 book shelves that have 3 tiers, full of books you can take without checking out and return once you are finished reading. I rarely do this but I am going to swing the opposite way on my ratings. Yes, Redmond has a lot of…read moreapartments downtown but when you go to Kirkland and Bellevue it's pretty crazy and Woodinville is changing a lot too. Most of the change in Redmond now appears to have happened and it has Marymoor park, the light rail to go downtown and Redmond Town Center. Every time we go to kirkland and bellevue it is so packed all of the time and Redmond has a lot of apartments downtown but it doesn't have the feeling that kirkland does during the summer. you can't even drive through kirkland on a sunny day without the cruising traffic and crowded restaurants. kirkland is lovely but it's loved by everyone (not just the people that live there) so finding parking is hard. Ultimately Redmond isn't as bad as the other cities on the eastside for being crowded constantly and it has nice green spaces outside of the immediate downtown so I'm changing my rating. :-)

sure, I know, I know...Clyde Hill right? I know it's got a reputation - and in many ways, it's…read moredeserved. It's an exclusively glorious part of Bellevue that reminds you how inferior your bank account balance is and gives you a glimpse of how the other half lives. That being said, if you should decide to take a walk through here on a sunny afternoon, you'll be treated to a tour of a permanent street....nay....neighborhood of dreams. Some of the most beautiful houses you've ever seen are here - and unlike the equally amazing mansions that exist over in Medina - here in Clyde Hill, they're all on display and can easily be seen without having a jump and fence and race away from guard dogs. The views from the top of Clyde Hill are spectacular. It's no wonder the houses cost what they do here. On a clear day, you can see all of Lake Washington, the entire Seattle skyline, and all framed by the Olympics in the background. Life is good here on the hill - no question. A word of advice though - don't even think about speeding through Clyde Hill. The cops here are always on the lookout and they'll get you if you're even 2 miles over. Oh, and they'll probably pull you over if your car is older than 1998 also. No reason. Just for driving an "older" car. (Seriously - heed my advice on this one.) The gas prices in Clyde Hill are a little over the top - but not as crazy as that Chevron station down on Main St. in Old Bellevue. And there's a very friendly Tully's location on the road that runs parallel to 520. By all means, take a tour through the Hill. Check out the beautiful houses and the incredible views. Just try not to look TOO suspicious, and ease up on the gas pedal. Trust me on this one.

Stopped in to the Vital Statistics office to pick up a copy of my birth certificate…read more I entered through the main entrance of the hospital, and that was the wrong move. Trying to find the Vital Statistics office was a challenge. I asked a nurse for directions and she pointed me towards a WHOLE OTHER BUILDING ACROSS THE STREET. I finally found the office. It's a small little office up in the corner of the building I was sent to. Very clean, and very quiet. Signs around instruct you to fill out a piece of paper and give the employees about twenty minutes to meet with you. They got to me in about two minutes and were super kind! I was in and out of there, with my certificate, in about five minutes. Woohoo!

This was my first time visiting a library in Washington, and overall, it was a lovely enough…read moreexperience. The space is definitely on the smaller side compared to some libraries I've been to out of state, but I really liked the aesthetic and general atmosphere--it felt calm and inviting. One of the biggest positives for me was how quiet it was. I spent about 1-2 hours reading a thick graphic novel, and it was genuinely peaceful. Even the kids were surprisingly quiet! Mindfulness from patrons with maintaining low volume is a huge factor for me when it comes to enjoying a library. I was a little disappointed with the size of the graphic novel section though. It's one of my favorite areas to browse since I can usually finish something in one sitting, so I wish there had been more variety. I would've loved to stay longer and explore some genre fiction, but I don't live nearby, so getting a library card didn't really make sense for me this time. I didn't interact much with the staff--there didn't seem to be many around, and one employee I noticed appeared to be on their phone--but it didn't impact my visit too much since I mostly kept to myself. They do offer useful amenities like computers, printers, and copiers (though I didn't use them), and there's plenty of seating along with outlets for charging devices, which is always useful for those needing to utilize their laptops or phones. There are restrooms available, but you do need an employee to buzz you in. At first I thought you had to turn the handle, but it actually opens by pushing the door once they unlock it. The restrooms themselves were a bit disappointing--they weren't the cleanest and didn't have seat covers. That's honestly one of the main reasons I'm giving this place 4 stars, since I feel like the restrooms could definitely be better maintained. Parking also seems like it could be an issue. The lot is pretty small--maybe around 15-18 spots--and since there's no street parking, I can see it being difficult to find a space when it's busy. I happened to visit on a rainy day, so I got lucky. There's also a nice little park outside that I didn't get to enjoy because of the weather. Overall, a quiet, cozy spot to read and unwind, with a few minor drawbacks. I'd definitely come back if I were in the area again.

I never stepped foot in to any library for years, the last time was when my big kids elementary school days, I would take them for the Summer Reading Program but the library ( Oahu) is nothing like this library. I would visit more often if I lived/moved here. I am so amazed, with just a quick walk around the library, so nice, clean, organized, high tech, modern. There is even a security guard at front too. The tax dollars sure is put to good use here! Wait a minute, The library opens on Sunday, that is awesome! I love the section with all the info. for resources, so helpful! The desk has outlet for charging your devices. Some of the amenities this library offer includes, public computers, free Wifi, meeting, study rooms, workspaces, reading area, besides borrowing books. I saw an event going on in the children's section during my visit. There's a canopied stone entry plaza and bicycle rack. I don't know what happen to my library card or even my kids, but after visiting, I really need to consider visiting any library more often. Yep. Reading enriches the mind!
