Love, empathy, curiosity, and firm boundaries all shine here. They are as engaged with social emotional teaching as they are "academic" skills. They are an incredibly unorganized (unlicensed) childcare option and offered little to no training on child safety protocol for their staff, at summer camp the head teacher barely gave any instruction to kids and families on safety expectations and rules. Children were constantly getting hurt and the head teacher did little to provide appropriate consequences when my coworkers and I would bring incidents to her attention. I was one of the only teachers that would actually accompany kids to the bathroom, the head teacher would send 4 year olds to the bathroom out of sight by themselves every day and was shocked when I would go to accompany them with another camper to maintain ratio. She provided so little structure during the day that kids were completely under stimulated and their behavior problems that had been enabled throughout the school year were exacerbated in the summer. I felt like there was so little I could do to support my campers in a way that would be supported by the Firs. I have worked in childcare for many years and this is the worst place I've ever worked. Do not work here, do not send your kids here, their negligence is going to land them in a lawsuit some day. The homophobia too.....

They run a day care but there is a learning curriculum also so your kids dont just play with blocks all day. You dont have to go everyday as long as you schedule in advance, like every M W F or something. They really are teachers not babysitters, they teach manners, social skills and some school stuff like letters and they read in a group to the kids. Great place to take your kids.

NO WHERE on their website informs ANYONE about calling for returning students to continue with the class. I was not notified about having to call in and neither front desk nor the owner gave me my money back. I have been waitlisted and still have not been called to this day. The only way I'd be back is to receive a refund and use it for the North Coast Academy business across the street.

The negative review below-about a child being touched, and about Vegas is bogus. It appears someone was angry with her or trying to sabotage her business. Gin is extremely professional and courteous to parents and to all children. I cannot say enough amazing things about Gin and her school. The experience my son has had is priceless. Gin has been in business for over 40 years and she is well respected in the community. We love the Gingerbread House and all the staff.

Also, the owner took a vacation to las Vegas and canceled school in one weeks notice. The owner said to me over the phone that she had a death in the family and that was why she was closed. An employee later said she lied to me and decided to extend her vacation an extra day. You cannot trust the owner. I have also heard from the employee that the owner is money hungry and will lie to anyone who threatens her business. I was aslo told from the employee that the owner consistantly soad bad things about many of the families who went there. Do not trust this daycare with your children. She is in it for the money. A god fearing woman does not take a vacation to sin city and lie to patron's about a death in the family. As i saod beforee, we were also told stories about the owner saying nasty stuff about several customers that pay money to this business. I have way more to say about this shady place but I am so over it I do not want to waste my time. She is also closed more than the schools so you will always be scurrying for baby sitting.
