But I am outraged because they continue to refuse my child water at meals. WATER - a basic human need. Children are forced to drink milk only or wait until after meal time for water; hydration-deprived into submission. Our doctor told our son he should try to eliminate milk from his diet because of some skin issues she noted. He was very excited to follow the doctor's advice and stopped drinking milk at home right away, telling us very firmly when we tried to give him some that the doctor said he shouldn't. We were very proud of him taking an active, informed role in his own health, and offer him calcium-fortified juice and vitamin supplements to compensate. Then he would come home crying and dehydrated (drinking several big glasses of water within the first hour) because the caregivers here were literally refusing to let him decline milk! I talked to the administration and they revealed I could fill out a document requesting they give my child water at mealtimes - which I did, but apparently it was not communicated to the staff because they continued to force milk on my son, who then gave up and told me sadly that he can't have water, only milk because the teachers say so. He is afraid to ask for water anymore - problem solved from their side because the child's will to follow his doctor's advice and control his diet has been broken. They also force our son (who we allow to be vegetarian because he thinks meat is disgusting) to sit in front of plates of roadkill through entire meals until the other kids are done. They refuse to allow us to send any form of food from home as an alternative so he eats the little portions of fruit and crackers and comes home starving and emotionally unbalanced because he is malnourished & dehydrated. We feed him some veggies, nuts, tofu and a ton of water, and he perks right up and is our happy, calm son again. They say "sorry, it's because we are part of the school lunch program" but there is no SANE reason to refuse a small child's request for water. EVER. Not even animals are subjected to such deprivation. Even in public schools children have a choice about what they put in their body. Not at Kids World though. They insist that every child participate in milk and meat at every meal or go hungry/thirsty... so the owners can get all that wonderful subsidy $$$. They deprive our son of essential hydration and nutrition for their own profit. So great school, but they should disclose that they don't just "provide" snacks and meals for your children, they attempt to starve them into accepting foods they don't want and refuse them water at meal times even counter to your pediatrician's recommendations. NONE of this mandatory food-fascism was disclosed upon enrollment, so we feel a little bit duped and very unhappy about the situation. We are now sadly looking at alternatives.

Tree houses, sand pits, mud pies, dolls, books, cozy nooks, rope climbing, sewing, carrot peeling, daisy chains...all the best parts of the old days. As a child development specialist, my heart grows every time I observe teachers interacting with students. They are "gardeners, not carpenters". Love, empathy, curiosity, and firm boundaries all shine here. They are as engaged with social emotional teaching as they are "academic" skills. The world would be a better place if every child experienced this kind of early education.

I would not recommend this school to anyone who was planning on their 3+year old going there…read more If you want a daycare that masquerades as a Montessori school, this is it. They "follow the child" in a way that also doesn't help to guide, help, educate , or keep the child safe. After 6 months of our eldest being there, she said she was repeatedly being bullied by a child. I contacted the teachers, asked for help, and they said "it's normal childhood development." I said I would like them to keep an eye on it, they didn't. After more bullying, I talked to the bully's parents. They stated, the teachers had never even talked to them about his behaviors (You might be asking how do you fix something if you can't talk about it at home, the answer is you can't). The parents stepped in and it was better for a short time, but then he began to bully my younger child instead. The owner of the school, is too afraid of conflict, so she does not address bullying. She was completely unable to have a constructive conversation around a child's abusive behavior, AND she scares the other teachers away from those conversations as well. She also didn't address a random mom that frequently taught there, yelled at my 2 year old after the abusive 5 year old had lashed out towards my son. There is no reason a caregiver should yell at a two year old to the point of tears. I watched said 5 year old physically shoulder check, push down, and call my son mean names on the playground at various pick ups/drop offs. He also shamed him about being friends with his older sister and her friends that were girls, to the point of which he would not come into a woman's restroom with me (it was later determined the bully repeatedly called him a girl), my son was 2 years old, being bullied about gender is totally inappropriate. Yet, the school would not talk with me about a possible safety plan after all these incidents. The interaction with the mom "helper" (also friends with the bully's parents', below), was the last straw, despite family hardships we made it work without child care, rather than leaving our children in the unsafe environment with these people. I want to reiterate, I asked for a plan to help these kids at least 4 times, over the course of a year. I even offered to help find services to the other child's family. The owner gaslighted everyone involved, including her other staff members who had observed the situations. The other staff members confirmed that not only that the child was bullying, but that he was also stopping lessons for everyone in the class. The owner denied everything, until our exit interview, which she acknowledged the child was abusive and encouraging his younger brother to act in an abusive way as well. She had no plan to curb the behaviors. Do what you have to do for child care, but don't expect the helpful, safe, kind values they state. They can't uphold them.

They have a fairly large climbing wall with a variety of difficulty levels. Pickle ball league seems very active and interesting. The pool is kinda small, but there's always a swim lane available to me when I go. The spin/cycling room is ridiculously small but it seems to work. I have yet to try other classes but there's such an awesome variety: yoga, tai chi, boot camp, Step aerobics, etc. But I don't see enough people taking advantage of their access to all the experts who work here. For example, they have a free orientation session for all new members to familiarize patrons with the exercise equipment. A wonderful lady named Mary gives the tutorials for the weight machines and can answer any other questions you might have. And she's amazing and so knowledgeable and patient and kind--and just a wonderful teacher. Other than that, the only drawbacks are the small parking lot, and it can be kinda smelly. It's an old building but they're doing some construction right now, so it might be nicer in a couple months. If you can't climb/descend stairs, then forget it. This place is not for you... But it's an all around great gym with tons to offer. And great people working here.

I would yap with them while I was resting between sets but would try and keep it short to be able to finish using the machine. Someone comes up to me and says something along the lines of are you using this machine while i was getting up to switch with my friend. I said yes I have one more set and my friend is just starting. They tell us to stop talking so much and hurry up, we say sorry and let him use the machine to avoid any trouble. They walks away and another person goes up to them and says I glad you said something they are taking too long. On another occasion, someone was rushing us off machines by standing and watching us workout. It was very awkward and I will not be going back!

She's also flexible. My son was sick last week and couldn't come in, but Amelia was willing to schedule a make-up session on a Saturday morning. Conclusions: My son enjoys coming in every week, and I'm happy with our overall experience. I highly recommend Evergreen Music Studios, but you may want to keep in mind a couple of thing. Things to watch out for: They send you invoices online, and you can pay them online as well. If you use a credit card, they will charge you a convenience fee of $5.85. I think it's silly to pay $5.85 for a $100 invoice.
