Right away I was invited to coffee with women my age. Then I was invited to bible study. Later I attended, Come Thirsty, a women's worship evening that happens the first Friday of each month. I joined the "band" and began praising through music. This church has become my extended family. We laugh and cry together. We encourage and pray for each other. Cedric and Angie are two of the most giving, loving, sacrificing people in this earth. They pour out their lives and their hearts for all of us!!! How to love our neighbors is always part of the sermon and James and Kody are extremely approachable. The focus is on how to be a joyful follower of Jesus without using fear and intimidation. I love the way they teach the meaning of words we've heard all of our life, such as "sin" and " repentance." I've learned that these are not scary words and that all of us sin and repent. James and Kody also teach us what the Scriptures mean while giving a history of what was happening in the day the stories occurred. On top of teaching, they work intentionally hard to make sure our church and church body are safe for visitors as well as each other. We recently had an art class and will be holding other classes for visitors to enjoy without feeling like we have an agenda. We have a growing kids program with VBS as well as marriage, finance and Neighbor Groups. MOPS is also a popular program at our church. If you want to go to a church where you feel welcomed without being pressured while enjoying community and church events, this is a great place to explore. If you want to laugh and have fun, come visit us. If you want to learn about Jesus and a God who loves you unconditionally, this is also the place for you.

This was addressed in the church but not as I would have expected anyone who believes the Bible is the inspired word of God. The pastor told his congregation he is a "peace keeper" and encouraged all to listen to both sides of the debate and that we are called to bring others to Christ and listening will help facilitate this. I do not disagree on this instruction. Where he missed is HE refused to take a side! This was a HUGE answer to prayers and God needs to be recognized and celebrated. I never thought this would happen in my lifetime and by a miracle Roe versus Wade was overturned. I do not know if this pastor supports the murder of babies or chooses life. Wishy washy pastors and churches will do more harm than good. We need Christians who are willing to listen but also not afraid to say what they believe regardless how confrontational. Use Christ as your example pastor, he was never afraid to point out wrong from right.

Again tonight, neighbors gathered at the church after 10pm, as another event was taking place. The music was so loud that the person I spoke with could not understand what I was saying when I asked who was in charge. Windows in neighboring houses were shaking. Multiple complaints have been filed re: noise and blocking the sidewalk for pedestrians.
