If you are considering Bees Ferry Apartments as a home; please rethink your decision and consider other options. Below is a message I sent to management today, I'll see where it gets me if anywhere! The neighboring downstairs apartment harbored 5-6 dogs and other reptiles. Myself and other neighbors noticed they were not being taken out or cared for especially when their one German shepherd broke out of a screened window to come after my boyfriend and our 18 month old labradoodle. It took an act of congress but between myself, my boyfriend and our neighboring friend we continued to call animal control until the animals were taken by them for abuse and neglect while this complex did NOTHING but tell them to clean up. Again, consider other options and please give me recommendations on where to move next as I'll be working in the downtown area and my boyfriend in Ravenel so we want to keep an in between distance for both of us. Below is the copy of the letter I sent to management on Friday with ZERO response back. I will go to the news media, social media, and even higher ups if needed. The pictures and video attached are of the downstairs apartment which has INFESTED this entire building with roaches! Dear Sirs/Madam, I am writing first of all to ask to be placed on the schedule for getting pest treatment every two weeks as my neighbor and friend, Tammy, advised me that is "all that can be done." I loved my apartment when I first moved here almost two years ago but it has truly went downhill in the last 6-8 months especially due to the neighboring apartment downstairs which is invested with roaches and whatever else and has now lead to the ones who live in this building to be negatively affected by the choices and decisions that this management company ALLOWED to happen. It is inhumane that we have to live in such conditions especially when the rent amount is outrageous and we all are hard working individuals to afford to stay here. Yet, your office knew of the animal abuse and the roach/pest problems and have done NOTHING to help the good ones in this building. You all should be ashamed of yourselves to allow this to happen knowing you would not want to live in the same conditions and all that can be done is to provide pest control every two weeks! My boyfriend and I have spent close to $100 on roach baits, traps, hotels to get rid of them and yet we kill and see more than 10+ roaches (baby and adult ones) a day! I just killed two as I type this email to you! The other night, I had an adult one crawling on my arm! This has been my breaking point as I would imagine you could understand and relate to how I feel about this situation and how poorly it was managed and still being handled! Lastly, I am writing to let you know that I will not be renewing my lease with Bees Ferry apartments and want to know the last day I have to move out according to my lease as I have not gotten any notification of asking if I was going to renew my lease or not, I am letting you know due to this situation I will not be! I am updating this review to include a collection of videos and photos of the roach situation we endured while living here. The entire building we lived in is infested and completely uninhabitable until everyone moves out and the whole building is gassed and treated. My husband and I lost nearly $1000 in damages between throwing away electronics and kitchen equipment, and my medical issues regarding a severe roach allergy. Do NOT believe what this complex says about the bugs being resolved, they are not! I would like to remind everyone that the last few months living here we killed 100 roaches EVERY DAY. read more

There is a radon gas problem at this complex. The office required a Radon gas remediation company entrance in my apartment for a reading and remediation and then they would not share the information gathered to me. I had to pay to the end of my lease and then they kept sending different final bills to me. The office management is a nightmare to work with and it is unsafe. read more

Caution! The office staff is very dishonest. I had to early terminate my lease. They did not send my final statement for almost two months, block me from the portal to pay, told me to mail the payment by a certain date, then in another email said oops we already sent it to collections but you have 65 days to pay them before they report to credit agency. Nope it got reported. Again the office staff tells me they will investigate with the collections agency in yet another email. I call the collection agency and they said it was given to them before I was even given the final statement. I have tried calling FCAManagent who is over these liars and absolutely no one is responding. I am reporting this to HUD and taking legal recourse. Every bad review on here is completely valid. from noise complaints and the office ignoring the complaints, to the rent always being different and the office employees always telling you something different for the reason why, and just the office staffs attitude and customer service skills as a whole. As a tenant when I come to you with a good attitude and questions that any reasonable and prudent person has regarding my living situation, that good atttitide should be matched. I get if you're miserable in your job but you can pick a new one. I had a friend that was literally about to sign a lease here but was mortified by the leasing employees attitude. When I first moved in, Greystar was managing this apartment complex. They did a great job. After new management took over, the place went down hill fast. The grounds are in terrible condition - debris everywhere. Plants are dead and need to be removed or trimmed. The appliances in the apartment are terrible. Management isn't responsive and neither is service. My personal opinion is that I won't recommend this apartment complex to anyone ever. read more

BEWARE of applying to these apartments. They pressure you into signing so fast that you don't have time to read fine print. They will give you bonus money if you apply in a 15 minute time period. Worst management company I have ever encountered. Service requests for the apartment were never completed or taken care of properly after numerous requests. Ground maintenance was very poor, bushes overgrown into walkways. Staff was rarely available or in the office during their posted office hours. Management never returned emails or phone calls. I have been staying here for 10 months now. I am not someone who writes review but now I feel it's high time to guide someone who might be planning to lease this apartment. Warning please don't! First when I moved I was handed over with dirty uncleaned apartment. Than when I tried to point it out all the management team had their hands off this situation, forgiven! Later for nearly 4-5 months my water outlet from refrigerator was not working with frozen pipe issue, had to buy water from store. Finally it was repaired so I am thankful after 5 months! From day one roaches, termites and pest control issue I have been facing in this apartment and it's 10 months I still have complain. Put in pest request they will show up after 2-3 days. Wonder what kind of pest it done that every other day I see pest control requirements. How much a person can inhale pesticides? And who really wants to get pest control done every single day? Shoot them an email to solve this issue, you will never hear it from them. Coming to apartment amenities- uncleaned washer/dryer that has some layers of lint hard to clean, spoiled all my clothes. How can a new resident keep it clean if it's been not clean over years!? No pet treatment done before handing over this apartment to me, and still they say they have! I have no pets and I am allergic to pets, I find pet hairs all over Kitchen cabinets, dryer. They have a package for internet with at&t and this sucks! Inspite of paying them and not dealing with at&t I was been billed separately by at&t and received notices about disconnecting my plan! After informing the office, they proudly without even concerning what issue their resident is facing, they told me in email we don't deal with them plus call on this number, they shared number/email of their agent through at&t and that dumb lady didn't even try to understand what the issue was and how should that be resolved, bluntly told I can't help out and replied some crazy stuff that I really didn't even ask in my email to her! Ultimately I had to break my head with at&t customer service and got it resolved! I mean what this management people are really her for? Just to fill your pockets with money? They are really not concerned about residents comfort ness and how much enjoyable this apartment stay is! Only matters to them is pay your rent on time and get over it! I've been living here since August 2018 and it's been hell since I moved in. DO NOT MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU LIVE ON THE 3rd floor. I have been complaining since I moved in about the noise that's coming from the unit above me all times of the night and nothing has been done although they are in violation of the noise ordinance. The floors are paper thin and they do not tell you anything about it before you move in. The property manager Jennifer told me to record the noise on my phone which is nearly impossible and if I could capture the noise I could move to another unit. She should be relocating the unit making the noise to the first floor and not even suggest moving to me without paying for it. Worst decision to live here!!! Do Not Move Here!!!! I moved into Bees Ferry in June of 2018 and my experience has been up and down. Diane was the Property Manager at the time and she was great, but my whole entire experience relocating to Charleston from Michigan was a mess to be honest. The office never answered the phone and they never were able to answer my questions. When I finally moved in on June 1st, there was a new Manager named Jennifer. From what I have gathered thus far and based on personal interactions, Jennifer really is not a people person. She does follow-up, but is not very friendly. Sometimes it takes days to get a response from anyone in the office. They use Active Building as form of communication for the community, yet the replies are weeks later. The cost of my apartment really is ridiculous and every month there are random fees on my account and I end up just having to pay it. I really cannot stand that they charge for $2124 plus 60 days worth of rent to break your lease with them. It's almost not even worth it to break your lease. Be aware that you aren't able to AirBNB or sublease your apartment either. This is super inconvenient for students and or those that are offered jobs out of state. It is 2019...like seriously? Parking sucks. They supposedly enforce towing and you are told to have your parking sticker, but they really do not monitor it. I have to walk from guest parking to the front because guests take all of the parks in the front by our buildings. Maintenance replaced the screen on my porch and left residue all over the place on the porch. Traffic on Bees Ferry is trash, be mindful. The gym is nice and they have community events which is nice! Luckily, I'm relocating and will not be renewing my lease, but even if I were staying in Charleston, I would not renew. Keep looking! read more

I read some of the negative reviews and wanted to set the record straight. The management changed from Greystar to FCA over a year ago and since then, the rules have finally started to be enforced. Now we are seeing positive changes as far as the parking, all amenities working, the staff is friendly and actually competent now. I am so thankful for this change because it has pushed out a lot of the bad apples and now Bees Ferry is back to the quaint, beautiful community I've always known it to be. read more

Don't ever rent from this scam of an apartment complex! I was offered a job with the Government in Charleston and would be moving from Ohio. I checked out many Apt's through Apartmentguides.com and scheduled 5 apartments to look at in 4 days including Bee's Ferry which was my favorite. My husband and I toured it, loved it and signed up on the spot with a $500 deposit which we were good for, to find out days later that they denied us due to a bankruptcy that was dismissed 5 years ago. We lived here for a year and half while our home was being built. The management company went above and beyond to work with us while we were building. The amenities are wonderful too! read more

Management threw away our belongings that we were moving two days prior to the lease ending. We always paid our bills on time, and gave them an intent to vacate. In addition, they did not meet our reasonable demand letter or fix the AC for over two weeks prior. I would not recommend FCA management or the staff at Bee's Ferry Apartments to anyone. read more
