1 out of 5 StarsUnethical fee practices and unlawful contract terms.I hired Beers Mallers to handle four straightforward small claims cases and pre-paid substantial upfront retainers totaling between $6,000 and $8,000. Despite the simple nature of small claims court, the firm reactively generated and demanded an additional $8,000+ in arbitrary, inflated billing statements on top of my retainers. When I rightfully fired the firm due to these predatory billing practices, they pressured me into a settlement agreement. To hide their behavior, they inserted explicit clauses into the contract stating that I was completely banned from filing a disciplinary grievance against them and banned from leaving a negative online review. The attorney even reinforced this threat by sending me a direct email stating that I was legally prohibited from reporting them. Please be aware: Under the federal Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA) and Indiana state legal ethics, it is entirely illegal for a law firm to restrict a client from filing an ethics grievance or posting an honest review. I have already filed a formal complaint with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission and initiated fee arbitration with the local Bar Association. If you are looking for transparent billing, ethical behavior, and honesty, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. read more
