My night out with old friends began at Bedford on Park, a midtown steakhouse that has generated some interesting buzz over the years. Our dinner started out with such high expectations but gradually went downhill as the evening progressed. Although the ambiance is charming, boasting plenty of wood alongside dark earth tones, we were surprised to see the restaurant so empty at this hour. We arrived at 8 PM and there was only one other table that was occupied. This is definitely an anomaly for a nice restaurant during peak dinner hours. Service was spotty at best, with many of our water glasses remaining empty throughout the evening. On several occasions our waiter had to be flagged down in order to get refills on drinks or to simply ask a question about the menu. Our table opted to share a variety of apps and entrees, and two of the apps completely stole the show. The first standout for me were the impossibly delectable BBQ Brisket Sliders. They were tasty, juicy, 100% pure barbecue deliciousness. I could have eaten these sandwiches until I dropped, and we wound up placing several additional orders for the table. The second notable item was the Maple Glazed Lamb Bacon. It was succulent, with a delicious maple glaze coupled with the perfect smoky flavor. Yummmm! It's also worth noting that the char grilled asparagus also proved to be quite tasty. Other apps yielded mixed results. While the matzoh ball soup was quite solid, the poutine fries and duck confit spring rolls were uninspired and quite boring. And while some of the apps were the highlight of the evening, all of the entrees we shared were quite mediocre. From BBQ spare ribs to a 14 ounce ribeye, the entrees were all lackluster in both quality and flavor. In retrospect, I wish we would have tried more appetizers. The subpar entrees were followed by a delicious Chocolate Chunk Cookie served with mocha rum sauce alongside vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, it was too little too late. Although the apps and ambiance came up big, the service and entrees were quite a letdown. With all of the wonderful options available in NYC, I will definitely take my steak cravings elsewhere the next time I am in the Big Apple. read more

What a disappointment to start off my first 2017 review with a three star review, especially for a place that has very nice waiters and a great ambiance, but the food disappointment was on the next level and I honestly don't know how soon I will be visiting this establishment again. I'm a person that works hard for his money and when I go out and spend over a hundred dollars per person I expect to get delicious food that leaves me satisfied and feel good about eating out, sadly this was not the case when we tried the new Bedford on Park, the food was not hot and I spent 30 bucks on a Pumpkin gnocchi that was so bad that we didn't even take more than one bite out of it! The following things we tried: Brisket Egg Roll: I took this based on a friends recommendation and it was nice and crispy on the outside with a horseradish aioli on the side, however the brisket itself, instead of being pulled tasty brisket it was rather one big wet clump of brisket that came flying out all at once after you took your first bite. (I really have to reevaluate who my foodie friends are...) Maple Glazed lamb Bacon: actually wasn't that bad but it had so much sauce that the flavor of the sauce overpowered the flavor of the meat and you were hardly able to taste that it's lamb. Roasted beets and tomato salad: Nothing to write home about... Smoked Tongue Hashed: Disappointingly not hot and there were just 2-3 slices of tongue in it with a huge pile of potato hash... when you charge twenty two dollars for an appetizer please give me some meat... Smoked Veal Belly: Probably the 2nd to best dish that we've tried and was nice and tasty but nothing close to a knock out of the park. Poutine: The by far best dish we had and was nice and tasty with a punch of heat in it. If you visit this place I'd highly recommend you to try it! Pumpkin Gnocchi: As previously mentioned... BBQ Spare Ribs: Arrived so cold the first time that we had to send it back to the kitchen and when returned hot the sauce was to much an very overwhelming for my taste but the meat itself was cooked to perfection and was fall off the bone soft, but the side of corn bread was also a disappointment and tasted kinda like a corn muffin and not like corn bread. Last night I took my adult kids out for dinner at Bedford on Park. It took about 20 minutes to get someone's attention and order. It then took about half an hour to get our appetizer-Yes a single one item. There were only 2 waiters for the entire restaurant. The meal was okay and my steak was warm and not very juicy. It tasted as if it had been cooked earlier and reheated. I think the prices are high and the food and service mediocre at best. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT AND MANAGEMENT! Brenda K. read more

Let me start by saying the ambiance is great, we got there and there were 4 other tables by the time we left there wasn't a open seat and it was really loud there. The service was what was expected, the server pored water in my sparkling water and then brought me a fresh glass when I told him I was drinking sparkling. As got the food the mains were good , the appetizers were a bit or mis, 2 of the 6 dishes we ordered (lamb bacon and tongue dish) were extremely greasy, the tongue was served in a cast iron and the potato pancake was sitting in a half inch of oil. Deserts were below average and can use some improvement. Overall would return but not my 1st choice when traveling to NYC. read more

Food was very good! If you were wondering, this is located in the old Mendy's (so you may have memories of your yu/stern days), but the decor is very nice. A bit more "hip" than other upscale kosher places. BBQ brisket sliders (appetizer) were amazing! BBQ spare ribs also very good, even if a tad overcooked. it's a bit pricey, for what they charge they could step up a couple things - they need to work on plating and presentation (they served the ribs on a piece of paper on a plastic tray, felt more like a burger joint than fancy restaurant). The service was good, but the waiters seemed to be in a rush and did not spend more than 5 seconds at our table. They have a bar and wine, but no beers on tap. Overall I recommend this (figure $60-90 a person) if you're looking for very good food and a cool vibe, not as much if you're looking for a more classic, staid upscale NYC experience. read more

I seriously recommend that "Bedford on Park" makes a sign of some sort indicating the entrance-- it's VERY difficult to find. It's practically hidden .. So, finally after finding the location, my girlfriend and I walked in only to be greeted by a disgruntled member of society. Immediately he asks if we have a reservation (we did) in an extremely condescending tone ,, he then shows us to some tables. I'm going to try to describe this layout: there were around 20 tables, and only 5 were being used at the time .. this man kept on seating us at tables that were EXTREMELY close to other people!!! Finally we are moved to a table that wasn't too close to anyone,,, but we definitely could have gotten a better one. Also -- about the reservation: would he have really not let us in without one? It seemed so (just a side point) As for the food-- "Bedford on Park" has a lot of fancy sounding dishes that in actuality aren't as impressive as they appear. The maple bacon was around 80% fat (this was better at "Bedford" in Queens). If you consider fat to be a flavor, then it had tons of it. It wasn't bad, in fact it was quite delicious .. but it's fat ... This Smokehouse Soup was below average - average: it did have a very smokey flavor though, so atleast the name does it justice BBQ Spare Ribs were around average for spare ribs.. they had a nice flavor to them, but it was masked by how burnt the outside was. Surprisingly, the portions for the spare ribs was nice, and they even fell off the bone nicely. Cornbread was better at the "Bedford" in Queens. Fillet Oscar happened to be above average. I thought they did a great job on this dish. It came with these onions -- recommended to ask for a different side (onions tasted like garbage). There is a bit of brisket on top of the meat, but don't get fooled thinking you're going to get brisket!! It's such an incredibly small portion!!! The brisket did happen to be great though. I've read the reviews on the desserts here, and frankly I'm quite unimpressed. My girlfriend and I decided to get the chocolate babka pudding. It was literally warm bread injected with some chocolate that was thrown in a nice bowl sprinkled with a tiny scoop of non-dairy ice cream. I thought it was funny that they served an Olive Oil Cake. All I can say is wow -- this restaurant pleasantly surprised me. I don't frequently eat out at kosher establishments, and this one blew me away. My parents, husband, and I split the tuna tataki, kale Caesar salad, lamb bacon, smoked chicken, charcuterie, and poutine. Since my husband and I don't eat potatoes, we didn't eat the poutine, but my mom loved it. The charcuterie was delicious and sizable. The tuna tataki was perfectly cooked and spicy! The lamb bacon was out of this world, fatty and sweet and mouth watering. The smoked chicken had a similar seasoning and was similarly delicious. And the kale Caesar was just fresh and blended together beautifully. The portion sizes were generous, and the service was excellent. I'll be back! read more

I planned multiple dinner reservations ahead of time for a 2017 Christmas visit to NYC. Christmas Day can be a quandry as many restaurants are closed. I did an online reservation with Bedford on Park weeks in advance for Christmas dinner. Just three days before Christmas I received an email that the restaurant canceled the reservation. No reason was given. I am often annoyed by restaurants calling to confirm a reservation as I am never a no-show. In this case, I SHOULD have received a call at the very least. I see online that others have had reservations only to find the restaurant closed when they arrived. Something is fundamentally wrong with this place. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Food is mediocre, service is extremely lacking. Waiter kept pushing us to order more food, even though we all ordered entrees and sides (party of 6). Waiter forgot to put in one of the entrees and took an additional half hour to bring it out - by that time everyone else had finished their food. They did not care that they inconvenienced us, charged us for the entree even though they said they would remove it and added an additional 20% gratuity. We are amazing tippers and appreciate good food/service however this experience did not warrant 20% on a $350+ bill. read more

First I want to start with that my waiter was very nice And now with the issues 1st we had reservations for 7 and the waiter tells me that for the nights special Thay have a duck and there's only 3 left how can that be fresh when Thay open at 5 2nd we ordered the chicken soup it was fine Notting to go crazy about Then came the tuna tartare witch was a bit bland buy OK Lamb bacon was OK And then came the huge dino rib Which is suppose to be nice and juicy but was way over cooked and hard ( as if Thay forgot it on the grill) it was unedible the crust was so thick that there was no meet left just crust when we told the waiter he went into the kitchen when he came back he told us that he will not charge for the side dish we got For desert we took the chocolate lava cake All I have to say is that I don't think it was to fresh I was very disappointed cause when we ate at they're Queens location it was absolutely fantastic and we went there cause of friend referral and we left hungry read more

This kosher steakhouse behind Mendy's deli on 34th tries hard, but is not on par with other top tier NY steakhouses (kosher or non-kosher). Especially so give the outrageous prices. The best appetizers our group had was the maple lamb "bacon" and the brisket egg roll. The charcuterie board was very mediocre. Our group shared the bone-in rib eye steak and the BBQ beef rib. The rib eye was cooked perfectly (medium rare), but lacked the flavor you would expect from $58 cut of meat. The BBQ beef rib was smokey, fatty and delicious jurrasic sized rib. The service was friendly and professional. The restaurant is a bit on the small size, dark and the tables pretty close together. This is as good as it gets in kosher Manhattan. Nice place. Totally appropriate to take colleagues. And fun because the specials change and there is a nice range of dishes available. We shared small plates. The bangers and mash (an upscale riff with a marvelous duck sausage served with a "mash" of celeriac was wonderful. A duck rilette was perfect. And the coup of the day , a white bean with duck sausage was great. The coconut-based creme brulee was perfect, the chef must have waved his blow torch over it to caramelize the crust as the waitress was actually walking towards our table - the temperatures and flavor were that perfect. That said, I gave 5 stars in that category. There is no kosher restaurant in Manhattan at present that Michelin would rate. They did miss on some dishes, this is not on a level with the top kosher places in Jerusalem Paris or Lyon. But it is very good, and you don't have to put up with the sttitude you get form the staff at Mike's. read more

Bedford on park is a fabulous addition to Manhattan kosher dining. I went with a party of five, and we were seated quickly and served in a very timely fashion. The lamb bacon was absolutely out of this world, and the steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. There are so many great dishes on the menu, that I am sure to go back to try them all. My only complaint was that the entrance of the restaurant is a bit hard to find - it is the second door on the right from the corner of 34th and Park. Fans of the original Bedford restaurant in Queens will surely enjoy themselves, and people who have yet to make trip out needn't fret. Bedford on Park is Phenomenal. A GREAT NYC RESTAURANT that is also GLATT KOSHER .The Dinning room and space is intimate and family friendly.Service was awesome with an abundance of smiling faces. Our waiter was informative and super attentive. The menu is incredibly crafted with variations that transform your appetite . Lamb Bacon , Quail Eggs etc . The fresh catch fish was served whole. Striped Bass was cooked to perfection. I have been privileged to dine here twice and attended a private party once. Returned to Bedford on Park to celebrate a friend's birthday. Hector greeted us warmly. He made a very luscious chocolate cocktail. For appetizers we had pea soup, beet & tomato salad & crusted tuna slices. All delicious. For the mains, my husband had brisket sliders, our friend had a 7oz steak I had the 10oz top round. The steaks were perfectly cooked, however the top round was not as good as it was the first time I had it. We had truffle fries as a side, delicious. We also shared the maple glazed lamb bacon. Awesome! So good we ordered another to go home. My friend & I both had Dalton Red for wine. There is an extensive wine list and an interesting cocktail menu. We were served an apple tart with ice cream, to celebrate the birthday. Dessert was delicious. The only minor criticism is that in the past we didn't have to ask for bread to the table & the bread was served with olive oil. This time we had to ask for both. The food is delicious. Hidden in plain sight. The food is high quality. Their Caesar Salad with kale was quite good, with a nice crunch and surprising flavor. A small menu but it pleases. Pretty disappointed in the meal I just had here. It seems like some reviews explained similar instances should have looked at Yelp before coming. Food is decent for a kosher restaurant however the service is not up to par. Our waiter seemed distracted and screwed up our order leaving us flustered on top of that he didn't seem to care when we expressed our disappointment. (Forgot to bring out an entree) Caution tip will be included without any warning on the menu or by the waiter. This place has so much potential if they just focused on better service. read more
