This is a good family day out there is a small cafe in jarrow hall which is next to bedes world which does nice little meals. Around the back is the herb garden with herbs that they would have had at that time.
Bedes world is not expensive it has a little waterwork when you first go in - you pay at the shop desk which is full of good souveniers and does nice st justin pewter jewellery. You can also buy food there for the farm, There is a small room which normally has on an art exhibitions and they quite often do activities for children in there.
The main musuem is the history of bede which clothes for the kids to dress up in and lots of interaction for them.
There are also lots of finds from st pauls monastry which is next door
The best thing is recordings there is a circle with several alcoves and you sit inside one and get different parts of beded life explained to you
Outside is the farm, there are goats and sheep, oxen and pigs they try and get the older breeds as it is an anglo saxon farm. You can adopt an animal for £12.50 which gets you a little pack about the animal and if you get it by standing order you get a free entry ticket
They have also recreated several timber buildings to have a look round with objects of life at that time inside
If you walk up to the cross that is on the top of the little hill you get a lovely view of the surronding area
After you have been go into the runied monastry and pop inside the church the chancel is from the 7th century
