Unfortunately there's not an option for negative ratings. My dog jumped out of the truck and broke his leg. Called for an emergency appointment. Lady was rude, put me on hold and returned said the doctor didn't want to see my dog. Never call again. I've never seen this vet before. We just moved into the area. What kind of compassion is that. I'm grateful for your hateful attitude towards a suffering animal. I'd hate to think about the cruelty of your service. read more

There is currently a nationwide Canine Influenza vaccine shortage. I needed to get the vaccine to board my dog in Charlotte. The boarding facility requested a letter signed by a vet at this hospital that the vaccine was backordered. When I called today to get this letter, I was told the owner and the office manager would not provide me this letter. This place is horrible. Don't go here. I brought my 4.5 mos. puppy here for a bowel obstruction surgery. The surgery was successful, however he ended up dying because of a secondary dog mersa bacterial infection he got from their facility during the operation. The callous complacency presented by the doctor, in the tragedy of having to euthanize my dog yesterday, was INSULT ADDRD TO INJURY. This man attends the same church that I do, but we had never met before. What a disgraceful representation of God's love and compassion. I will not mention the name of this man, but I do hope that someday this review will resonate in his SOUL. NOW, I must pray that God help me forgive him. Please check your bill after going here. Don't show them your weaknesses either towards your pet. They will 100% feed on that and over charge. I cried on the phone to them and they started naming off things they "need" to do. They took advantage of me and argued with me. I ended up having to pay so much money for a non existent condition. I disputed with the bank and they told the bank I was wrong. They're super shady. All of that being said, there is at least one vet there that I know is a good person because I've seen it. She went above and beyond for a cat I knew but I'm not sure if she works there anymore. read more

Hateful staff, crooked financial operations, and predatory diagnosis requiring expensive uneeded lab test. After 3 visits I never met a vet, just nameless techs who don't speak or introduce themselves. Drive 20 minutes down the road to any other vet office if you love your animals. TRIGGER WARNING My 11 year olds beloved cat had to be put down today. Instead of Dr. Ward using any bit of common sense with a child present who wanted to say goodbye to his best friend, he told my son they would have to cut his head off and have it tested. My husband and the vet staff tried to act like he meant take an X-ray and this JERK doubled down and said no, the body will be cremated the head will not and then told my husband he has to take ownership of the awful things the vet said. I've been going to Beckley Vet Hospital for over 30 years. The doctors are very knowledgeable, patient and great with my Great Danes. The staff is very friendly and work well with my dogs. They all really like working with animal, you can tell. My dogs love them and going there, and they do judge people. I highly recommend this office. read more

They have been great with all my animals . When my dane died of bloat they stayed and waited on us even though they knew she had passed on the trip to the vet. They were so nice to us and kept her at the facility until they came to cremate her remains. They did not charge us for after hours to be in the office. My only complaint is that your animal might be there all day for a simple procedure. read more

I also wish I could give a -X. My poodle would get excited and cough like she was choking then she'd cough like a hacking sound and she'd be OK. It got more frequent so I took her to this hospital and after the Dr. did a checkup they gave her a shot and sent me home with her. Although she was 13 yrs. old she'd never had a seizure. Before my friend could get her to the car she was having a seizure. I know there's nothing to do but calm them down but they didn't show any emotion. They took her back and checked her again and gave me medicine for her to take if she had another seizure. Then sent us on our way. Two days later on Christmas Eve morning my poodle died. read more

Took our cat to their facility for a look at his coughing problem. They kept him overnight. I called next day and was told he died but they were able to bring him back. Doctor stated they would continue with tests and X-rays. They called back a few hours later and said Toby had died and were unsuccessful bringing him back. Toby was only 2 years old. read more

You register your arrival then return to your vehicle and wait for them to come to get you or call you on your phone. This also avoids noisy waiting rooms or pet animosity. There is plenty of parking. Their end-of-life care for your pet is unparalleled. They have sympathy and caring in an emotionally charged time for the owners. read more

I've been going to this vet office for many years. My boxer twins, have been there since I got them at 8 weeks. All shots, spay/ neuter etc. has been done here and they are now age 5. They both had some growths that Dr. Walker suggested removal since they are prone to cancer. I took them in today as scheduled. The lady out front says spay and neuter, I correct her and she asked where were the growths. I gave her a paper where I had written them down for each. I asked for pain meds for both. 1 hour later I am called and asked about spaying Ava who is on the table but they weren't sure because they saw a scar. DUH open her chart, it was done here. Dr. Walker calls an hour later about sending them off for biopsy. I come and pick them up, only 1 has pain meds and my boy has a 6 inch cut on his neck for a growth the size of a dime. The other areas of removal on both are an inch or less. The bill is outrageous! I will be going to Fayetteville from now on. read more

Usually, it's only the bad experiences that write reviews. I couldn't believe that the Beckley Vet Hospital had such a low rating. I have 3 Bernese Mountain dogs, a Corgi and as of now a stray Hound Dog that is squatting at my house. All of them have been to the Beckley Vet for regular checks, and emergency situations, and I can honestly say that they are one of the best animal hospitals I have been to. The Doctors I have dealt with are compassionate and professional, and I trust what they tell me when it comes to my dogs. They are always busy but do their best to see your animals as soon as possible and take great care of them while they are there. I would recommend the Beckley Veterinary Hospital to anyone that is needing care for their pet. read more

I have been a pet owner since 1990. This is by far the worst vet hospital I have ever tried to deal with. They have zero customer service and less than zero compassion for you or your animals. I would rather drive 30 minutes to the next county then to ever let them treat my animal again. read more

If I could give them less than a one star review I would. Our beloved family dog was hit by a car in a freak accident. When I got the emergency vet in the phone she informed me first and foremost that the visit would require a minimum of $300-400 deposit. I told her I didn't care how much we had to pay. We got there and she had the most cold disposition a doctor - even a vet - could have. She took her time doing everything. The outward physical injury was a broken leg, but he had two collapsed lungs and was bleeding into them. She called in a vet tech while my husband and I gave him oxygen. She was prepping to get a tube and attempted but was never successful. Our dog went in to cardiac arrest and died. My husband asked if we could come back tomorrow and pick him up to bury him. The vet tech was gracious and offered her condolences. Dr. Walker informed us when we came back they'd have the bill ready for us. Mind you, we've used this vet for years and have never left the office with a balance. When we arrived the next morning to bring him home - and, of course, pay the bill - they brought him out to us in a black garbage bag tied up with duct tape. This was a beloved member of our family. read more

I don't know the names of the wonderful lady Vet, or her assistant......but I know they were crying with me. Thank you so much for making this difficult decision easier. Dealing with a dog with a Lymphoma and they knew more than what the average Vet does about this and treated him properly locally and worked with me with a hectic schedule while I had to take him out of state for his chemo because only a very few places will administer the type he needed. read more

Dr. Peery saved our dog's life! He saw her on an emergency basis as we were traveling through West Virginia. He immediately got her on IV antibiotics and fluids through the rest of the day and night. The next day, he came in on his day off to check on her and get her ready to travel so that we could get her home. The kindness and compassion demonstrated by Dr. Peery and his staff was remarkable and greatly appreciated! Shadow ultimately lost her leg but without the quick intervention of Dr. Peery, she would have lost her life! We are so grateful! read more

I will give them one star they will gladly see your animal and treat them for the most expensive price than everyone , outdated office and no seating in the rooms , no goody bags or pamphlet information for new kittens or puppies , they will not help with the local animal rescues 1 day a month with any spay or neutering programs for our community. I've had 2 serious animal emergencies and both times my dogs were referred to Dr Perry. I can't say enough good about this Veterinary Hospital. One of my babies survived being hit by a car and is able to walk after extensive surgery and my second baby is recovering from a TTA performed by Dr Perry. Anytime I need anything all I have to call. When a vet will take time out of his very busy schedule mid day and talk to you when you call you know they truly care and are concerned. Would not hesitate to take any of my animals here.
