Throughout my dealings with her, I experienced ongoing communication challenges and a lack of clarity regarding important steps and obligations. I often had to follow up multiple times for information I believed should have been provided proactively. These issues caused delays, confusion, and unnecessary hardship in my matter. I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously, nor that the level of attention to detail met the standards expected from a professional in this field. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend her services. i had asssessment yesturday with officer and my file is CV-22-2456 and she lied through her teeth, being a witness with affirming not truth. If she had admit the truth, i can understand the truth, but when you start to lie, i will have to report to law society to investigate your right fit to be a lawyer who can't handle a case correctly, misunderstand a client and over charged. My experience with John Schuman was extremely disappointing. I retained him with the expectation that he would advocate for my case and follow through on key responsibilities. Instead, I felt that very little meaningful work was done for the amount he charged. When it came time for my Solicitors Act assessment, he did not appear as a witness, despite the fact that his actions and billing practices were directly in question. His absence created further difficulty for me in addressing the issues with the accounts he submitted. Throughout my matter, I did not see progress toward trial, and I felt pressured rather than supported. I was shocked when I was told that proceeding to trial could cost as high as $150,000, which made me feel that the fees were escalating without clear justification or a realistic explanation of what work would be done for that amount. Overall, I did not feel that my case was handled with transparency, reasonable billing practices, or genuine care for my situation. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend his services. i had assessment for my bill of cost from him and Devry law and he didnt show up. My case number is CV-22-2456. He does not care for his client but sabatage my case to feed his firm and himself gain financially.

    0/5 STARS - 1 IS ONE TOO MANY!…read more UPDATE: On July 11, I finally received the cheque for the refund from the consultation fee. It turns out the cheque was never mailed out when they said it was issued. The Senior Law Clerk who was dealing with this matter confirmed that she personally put the cheque in the mailbox on July 10. This was supposed to be done during the week before the Canada Day long weekend. So, it took them nearly 2 weeks to send a cheque and if I didn't follow up with them, nothing would have been done. I cannot emphasize enough the level of incompetence I have seen during this arduous process and also lack of accountability. The Senior Law Clerk never apologized or took accountability for the fact that they did nothing about issuing my cheque when they said they were going to. She had the nerve to tell me she personally put it in the mail like that she did something honourable. Thank God I was smart enough to see the red flags and avoid giving this firm the $3,000 retainer. If the law clerks don't respond to your phone calls and emails and don't have the integrity to admit their mistakes, stay away. Do not throw away your money and time with this firm. There are much better law firms out there with sensible teams who provide professional, trustworthy service. --------------- I had a horrible experience with this law firm and I would not recommend it to anyone. Avoid this firm at all costs. You are probably better off representing yourself for your legal matters, if you've exhausted all your options. I reached out to the firm to inquire about a simple legal agreement. I initially felt confident in their services, because I spoke with a wonderful Sales/Intake Coordinator, who was very professional and friendly. I paid $450+ tax for a consultation meeting with a lawyer. This was scheduled as a virtual meeting by the law clerk. On the day of the meeting the law clerk failed to provide the Teams link to connect to the virtual meeting. I called and left a voicemail, and emailed the law clerk telling her that the link was missing. She never responded to acknowledge the error, or take any accountability and apologize. After about 10 minutes past the scheduled meeting time, the lawyer ended up creating the link and we spoke for about 30 minutes. I had to follow up with the law clerk to send me the information that the lawyer mentioned during the meeting and when I asked her about the missing link for the meeting, she tried to deflect and again showed no accountability. Unfortunately, the information provided was not useful and had nothing to do with what I was inquiring about, so it was a waste of time and a waste of money. Also, the firm requested a $3,000 retainer fee. I would never pay that amount of money given the poor service I already experienced. I complained about my experience and asked for part, or all of the consultation fee back. Out of $450, they claimed they could refund me $81.84. I found this to be insulting. If they were smart, they would have refunded me more out of goodwill. That meeting did not justify the amount charged and the unacceptable customer service made it even more asinine. I have found a better law firm that charges half the price for the retainer fee and I'm getting much better service. This law firm lost out on a potential client, because of the mediocre service provided and lack of respect for potential clients. The only saving grace was the Sales/Intake Coordinator, who tried everything in her power to resolve the issue and advocate for me. When she asked about refunding more of the fee they claimed it couldn't be done, because the cheque was already mailed out. So, why couldn't they send another cheque? Why couldn't they cancel the cheque they mailed out? They had many options to rectify this and they chose not to. It's very unfortunate how this turned out.
