In town for a wedding and seeing old friends that I hadn't seen in 10 years, I decided to treat…read moremyself to a blow out or as they say here, a "blow wave." I researched salons and while there are no shortage, this one is the best. Buoy recently won 5 out of 10 National salon awards, including best stylist and best salon. I signed up online to make a booking and thought their website was easy to navigate and well thought out. (Turns out, they won an award for that too.) Prices were clearly listed for every service and vary based on the level of experience of the professional carrying out the service. Bev styled my hair for the wedding, trimmed my fringe and did a fantastic job. She came highly recommended and is a consummate professional. Everyone from the receptionist to Bev's assistant was lovely. If you are in windy Wellington and need a blow wave, a hair cut or style, this salon is as good as any salon in Los Angeles or NYC. P.S. I thought my idea to get a blow out might be silly because it is indeed so windy here, but it was a brilliant idea. My hair may have been tossed around during the ceremony but once i did a quick touch up, it all fell back into place perfectly, thanks to a professional blow out.

Was in town for only one day and desperately needed a blow dry. Yelp is not very active in town but…read moreI was still able to find few listings. This place did not have any reviews but I called anyway. A very nice guy answered to all my questions and helped me find my way in. It was a bit hard to find but again I was completely new to town. The place was nicely designed and very clean. My hairdresser was very professional and did great job with my hair. If I had more time I would have tried more services. Not sure if I will ever be in Wellington again, but wanted to leave this review to spread the word around.

Kerri cut my hair and saved it from the massive amount of damage it accrued while at a hot spring earlier in the week. She patiently combed through every one of my countless tangles and gave me an awesome deep conditioning treatment. The hair cut is fantastic as well as an added bonus. She was delightful to chat with as was Daniel who booked the appt for me. Thanks guys!!

Truly excellent massage therapist for when you have tight muscles or needed adjustments…read more I came here after a trip from the US, where I was carrying 50 pound suitcases and lugging my backpack. My lower back and shoulders were in pain. I could not stand straight. Just one trip made a huge difference. Sianna told me that she had been doing therapy for 10 years and her work included rugby players and bronco riders. So, she was able to stretch my muscles and give very deep coverage. Her card also mentions pregnancy, sports, reiki and more. But, I love the feel tisst. Will worth coming here.

Fabulous place! My…read moredaughter and I both went here on Thursday and you pretty much have the place all to yourselves. She had the massage, mini-facial and pedicure Package. I had the Environ Deep Cleansing Facial. After your treatments they offer you tea and can relax in their mini lounge. Both ladies did a superb job and were extremely friendly! Their product line is also quite lovely and you can ask the ladies all of the products that was used in your treatment. We will certainly return! Quick tip: You don't need to tip in NZ but they appreciate it if you do.

Not what I was expecting from the web site. Booked in for a mani pedi. They don't have proper…read morechairs for a pedi. My feet got soaked in a simple stainless steel bowl on a towel on the floor and then I had to put my feet up on the knees of the technician sitting in front of me. That was uncomfortable for me and undoubtably was uncomfortable for the technician. Quite an un-relaxing experience for pedi. The gel nails I had put on haven't lasted well - one partially chipped off a few hours after getting them done and the pedi was mediocre at best for the cost $60 (which didn't included any heel scrubbing or massage). The staff were pleasant but the atmosphere & facilities did not meet up to my expectations from how they advertise themselves as a high end, spa like, top quality establishment. I feel that the salon is quite over priced at $135 for a very basic no frills pedi & gel mani.

The Finishing Touch was recommended by the staff at the Intercontinental, and I couldn't be more grateful. Kathy quickly found a time that I could come back (even though I'm pretty sure it was just past their closing time). It was a wonderful experience. Despite knowing that I would never become a regular (since I live in Florida), she still took her time to give me a perfect Gel French manicure along with a delicious latte. She is extremely knowledgeable about her craft and provided me with some education that I will take home with me. The salon was very clean and I absolutely love, love, love the fact that they do not reuse their nail files. I was handed the file to take home with me after the manicure. If I lived in Wellington, I would never go to another nail salon. Ever. I only wish I could have experienced many of the other services they offer including lash extensions. Thank you Kathy for everything! If we make it back to Wellington, you will be my first stop.
