I had a room in the part of the hospital that is being upgraded. It didn't even have a chair and I finally had to ask my doctor to get one in because of my back hurting so bad from laying down since I have hardware in it. What got to me was how uncaring some of the staff were, especially the night nurses. One even yelled at me and my roommate. I didn't even get a menu until the 2nd day when the really kind and professional nurse was on duty. I was told they didn't have heated blankets but he got me 2. I had to call multiple times just for a glass of ice until that day nurse. While they have a good selection of choices on the menu, when I was so nauseous, I had a hard time finding anything. I even had a gew meals ordered for me by the staff who didn't give me a menu. I excepted better.

Now I'm stressed and depressed from not only continuing my pregnancy but also not able to ever have children again. Have yet to receive proper care treatment plan from this experience. Future jobs are not honoring my diagnosis as a disability. Although I am a healthcare professional and a former employee. Now the doctors are saying I can't work in my profession and i believe I am being retaliated against. This was the best experience I ever had at a hospital; phsyc. And then later referred to Royal oak. And now my family is under attack.

Jessica the ED nurse was very helpful, compassionate and listened to my concerns about my elderly mother who has a serious heart disease and is at end of life. The cardiologists Dr.Peterson and Dr. Al-Suranian were excellent and empathetic. One RN in the ED named AJ was nasty, rude and showed no empathy. He took his time about getting an MD to address my concerns. When I was frustrated and upset about my Mothers' suffering, he became belligerent and called security. My family member was immediately seen and the diagnostic process was quickly started. The hospital my family member was at couldn't support the needs of my family so they were transferred. Mostly everyone I interacted with was empathic and really wanted to help. I have been at larger institutions like UCLA that wants to give you in and out as quickly as possible. The staff did a great job on involving experts to help identify the root cause.

That was not acceptable. I called MIND and got an appointment ASAP. I saw the incredible Dr. Fellows and his resident. The time and care they took to gather my information surprised me. Then they discussed my case, came up with a plan, returned, and spent more quality time explaining the plan to help me. Part of the plan was carried out by Dori, who expertly arranged to get my MRI on the same day if I was willing to wait a bit. I did. The team was fantastic. My whole experience has given me a sense of relief knowing that a group of people is willing to take the time to find ways to bring relief, so I can begin functioning and enjoying my life once again. The bathroom on the first floor was atrocious and the property manager should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. The walkways were barely cleaned or salted. I am completely appalled by the incompetence of whoever is the manager of this medical facility. He or she should be fired immediately.
