Petro Canada - Gas pumps and sign

    Petro Canada

I filled my car's gas tank up once while I was in Ottawa. After stuffing myself with grub for lunch…read moreat a nearby restaurant last Friday, I saw this Petro-Canada and stopped by. It had steady business. I had no problem finding a free pump. I tried paying at the pump, but the authorization was declined. I tried it again and it did the same thing. It was odd. The reason why this review gets a high rating is my seeking help from the man at the convenience store attached to this gas station. I couldn't tell if it was an issue with my credit card or the pump. I asked if he could pre-approve an amount for me. We went through the process of approving $70 worth of gas on my credit card. This transaction was also denied. It proved to me that there was something weird happening with my credit card. I thanked him for his efforts troubleshooting with me. I sat in my car and called my credit card company. It is known to do fraud checks. It decided to initiate a check and put a hold on my card when I tried to pay for gas at the pump. I find my credit card company to be odd. I've been in Ottawa for a week and you now flag a gas pre-authorization on it? I got the hold taken off my credit card. I was then able to pay at the pump. I swiped my Petro-Points card to earn points, my 407 ETR card to get a discount for each litre of gas, and them my credit card to pay. It worked at long last. Woo hoo! I successfully filled my gas tank up. I was happy. It was way too much work after lunch, but I'm glad that I was still alert. It's a decent gas station. I'd return here again to fill up my car's gas tank and hope that my credit card is hold-free due to a perhaps random fraud check. (238)

    Circle K - Snacks!

    Circle K

I happened upon this Circle K as it's across the street from Red Swan Pizza. I ordered some pizzas…read moreand the wait was 20 minutes. I remembered that I had some coupons for stuff at Circle K, and who doesn't love snacks, especially discounted or free snacks, am I right?!? Lol. This Circle K is quite sizable. They have a good selection of Frosters (slushies) and Polar Pop (fountain drinks). They even had the new Brisk Blackberry Lemonade flavour, which I got. I'm thinking there's a highschool nearby because lots of highschool kids were coming in and out of the place over the lunch hour on a week day, which is when I was there. Staff were courteous and efficient. This Circle K is attached to an Esso gas station. There's also a Tim Hortons inside, which also offers drive thru.

CHECK YOUR GAS RECIEPTS!!!!! I went here and purchased gas. I was charged premium gas price for…read moreregular gas. I took my receipt into the store and the rude cashier said that's not possible. While pumping it said regular, reciept said premium price. I told him to check his cameras as I drive a tiny hatchback and never in my life have I purchased premium gas. He laughed at me and I left. I came back to speak to the owner/manager he called me a liar and his employee was laughing at me while I was speaking to him. Incredibly rude and very unprofessional. I asked him to ask his employee to stop laughing and he made the comment "what do you want him to do, bow down to you?" I took out my phone to video tape him and the way he was speaking to me. All I wanted was it to be investigated so that others aren't being overcharged. He told me he was going to call the police because I was filming him. Easy way to get a concerned customer to leave. The owner of circle k contacted me and said he would investigate. He never called me back. The Tim Horton employees are so friendly and kind. The customer care in the Circle K and Esso is ridiculous and I would go across the street and purchase your gas at Petro. At least you aren't having money stolen from you and rude men getting a worked up when questioned about it.

The attendant who "served" me gave me nothing but attitude and rudeness from the moment I walked in - he looked visibly annoyed that I was there (interrupting his conversation). After several rude and disinterested interactions I became annoyed and we ended up exchanging words. It was at this time that he accused me of being a racist, declared that he was the owner of the gas station (doubtful, he looked like he was in his late 20's or early 30's) and told me to get out of "his gas station" (still hadn't removed the headphones from his ears). Not sure what it is with the current generation but the idea of customer service seems to be dead. Certainly is at this location. I would suggest paying at the pump or going somewhere else.

He refused to honor the price marked on the shelf and then when I explained to him that, that is bad business and ripping people off he laughed it off. He made me feel as though 30 cents was petty and I was bothering him, when I was calling him out on bad business practices. People usually are rushed when they are grabbing their gas, which makes me wonder how many people have gotten ripped off and how many other products are mislabeled at this location
