Is is possible to give a minus 1. I am an Aortic Dissection survivor & presented at the ED with chest pain & similar symptoms to my original dissection. I was probed by the ED doctor as to why I didn't go to my GP. The GP would have sent me to the ED anyway because a contrast CT scan is one of the only way to rule our in RHC diagnose an Aortic Dissection. I was shocked when I was handed a form to bring for a CT contrast scan & told walk down to the radiology department without any staff to aid or assist. Dreadful, telling a patient who may be experiencing an AD to walk unaided down two floors. Anything could have happened to me & without medical supervision. Aortic Dissection is so often misdiagnosed can lead to a fatality. I am currently sitting here Waiting to be called for my scan in pain and worried incase I am dissecting again. :( read more

I attempted to sort the error made by reception radiology which did overcharge for my scan. There are already 5 months since the scan. I wish to advise that one lady Holly did engage in a very condescending manner and not willing at all to help sorting the matter. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. With this attitude"I know it all" I do not think she is suitable to deal with people that engage with this department in Beacon hospital, Dublin. read more

I was referred to the Beacon Radiology Department for an MRI. The service was excellent in every respect. All the staff were kind and supportive. I was seriously impressed at how they all responded to the needs of patients and their families. read more

Arrived an hour before check in. 2 hours later and still waiting for a bed. Front office staff weren't even concerned my wife was having issues with her back due to the long wait. They were more concerned about giggling and joking in the back-office. Literally everyone who arrived after us went in before us. Ludicrous service read more

Before you read this please note I have a high-level health insurance plan and full cover from my healthcare policy so I personally am not out of pocket. In all honesty there is a concerning pattern in this hospital. Dealing with crohns disease for 22 years has me quite familiar with A and E hospitals. I attended a and e with abdominal pain, I have been in agony for months and not eaten food for 3 days when attending. After being to a vhi swiftcare clinic I was instructed to attend here and advised I should be medicated with morphine as any kind of brofen/nsaids exacerbate my health conditions. I was quickly seen to and put into a bed, a false sense of safety. Following a doctor assessing my stomach rather intensely the pain increased 10 fold. I was then removed from the bed and sat on a chair something that should not be happening. I was left sitting on a chair for 4 hours before the ct scan was done all the while in agony and being treated with paracetamol and busocpan. Two smarties that provide no pain relief. I have Stage 4 endometriosis and crohns disease, I duly informed the doctors of my surgery where my appendix was removed yet they were looking for appendicitis?! Due to having to mention these conditions nothing else was being accessed, an issue I face regularly, doctors stop investigating and conclude that it is a condition I have rather then investigating further. I noticed during the 6 hours in a private a and e that cost my insurance company €695 that every person who comes through the door is given a ct scan €450, 70% put on fluids IV unless as some people did protest that they didn't need this as they were eating and drinking, paracetamol IV and anyone complaining of a soar stomach on nexium IV and a painkiller that when I asked about turned out to be of the brufen family. It was like a converyor belt, I sat beside a man who had been for an ecg and had his heart pounding and was told OK ill tell the doctor. To then be discharged. I too was discharged with a large bill. Told that they didn't know what caused the problems, the ct recommended further testing but they were happy to let me go home and they would arrange an outpatient appointment. I won't be recommending this place and I will be raising a complaint. CT scans and fluid is given to everyone in the same way a chipper throws in a few extra chips in a bag. Despite the illusion of care from a medical perspective it's a hoax. I attended a private a and e, expecting to be, as reassured by my private healthcare that I would be looked after. I expected to be put into a bed and given treatment to ease my pain, where I could lay comfortably while multiple tests would be arranged. I expected to be admitted if they could not easily identify my complaint and further tests be carried out, this is why I went to a private A and E and not the usual public A and E I've attended for 22 years. I expected so much more from the Beacon Private Hospital, much to my disappointment I listened to many people being discharged complain of similar, that they were directed here and now being told something else. I attended at 11.29 on the 24th April 2024, they open at 10 am. During my triage the conversation was interrupted to advise that they are at bed capacity for the day. There is something functionally wrong with the procedures and processes in this hospital and I am disappointed and disgusted quite frankly that I have been sent home with no outcome. I will be sure to notify my healthcare provider of the same. read more

This is Luxury, pure splendor when you consider this is a hospital. if i ever ever get sick this is where i want to go! Its like a hotel really, as Joshua said its a private hospital and while you pay for other private hospitals this hospital has set the mark for how all the other hospitals should be. There are no smelly disinfectant corridors or horrible rooms with crap beds and only a picture of holy mary on the wall to stare at. being in a hotel, sorry i mean hospital room in here is not a bad experience at all.the rooms are nicely decorated and the bathrooms do not look as industrial as other hospitals at. Like other private hospitals you dont just get served up whatever is going in the kitchen for dinner you actually get a nice printed menu to choose from, yes other places do this too but the food just seems nicer in here. luckily i wasnt staying here myself (at the end oftheday it is a hospital!)i was only visiting but it is very comforting to know that the patients in there are having the best time possible considering their circumstances. read more

Staff were lovely and professional, but the waiting room is just a corridor and it was freezing, the air con was far too low and we all got colds. Also, I went there to be out quicker coz it's private, but it was about 4 hours between checking in and a doctor seeing me. Could've gone public for free and similar wait time. read more

Dropped a friend off to 'Emergency' at 2.30 pm with possible cracked rib, eventually got a call to collect him at 7.30,and no X Ray done either..., and there was still a line of people waiting...!! As regards vehicular access to drop off, the public entrance is right on a very congested corner so that is impossible, and if you drive into the car park area there is a limited unsigned drop off point there,but they really want you to pay just to drop off. Every other hospital in Dublin has a well marked drop off area ! Just by chance I used the public toilet near Reception, brown/black interior with 'subdued' lighting meaning anything could have been there but nobody would be able to see it without an LED torch !! I always judge restaurants by the toilets, and hospitals too !! read more

Oh My Oh My. After struggling to find a doctor/medical services available during the Holiday insanity, it was a blessed relief to get to the Beacon Hospital emergency room and find a wonderful staff, fantastic facilities, and a high grade of professionalism at Beacon. It's easy to get to even on the Luas (I don't drive in Ireland). Doctors, Med Techs, Nurses, Admin staff, everybody was warm, helpful and competent. If I could, I'd give 'em SIX Stars. One thing to be aware of-Beacon is a Private Hospital and doesn't accept public ambulance service. And it may be a little pricey for those without insurance. Bottom Line: If it fits your budget, and you need full service medical services, this is THE place in Dublin to go. read more

Visited an ill friend at the Beacon and was dreading heading to the hospital. But, pleasantly surprised to find a lovely space with lots of light streaming through the windows. Whatever money was spent in getting this hospital to look so 'fancy' and modern was worth it. Both patients and visitors would appreciate the surroundings. There's even an inviting cafe and a gorgeous mezzanine that connects the two wings. If I could change one thing it would be the big black leather (?) chairs that caught my eye upon entering the facility. They seem out of place, bulky and downright unattractive. But, I don't plan to spend my time in a hospital 'lounge' very often; so, it's really not a big deal. There's also room service! Okay, that's a silly hospital joke... ;) Hopefully, readers of this review will not have to hang out at any hospital for very long! But, if you do, this medical facility will make your visit or stay much more comfortable. To your health! read more

Here for a knee arthroscopy, I arrived at 06:15 and I was leaving just before midday. The staff at every stage were excellent: admissions, the day unit ward, pre-op, theater, post-op and back to the day unit ward for physio and discharge. I was kept in the loop the whole way through and everyone was very nice. And the knee? So far so good. It is hard work, but I can tell the operation achieved what it was set out to do. From admission to discharge, the experience here at the Beacon Hospital Day Unit was a good one. read more

Shocked beyond belief.............. Went today with chest pain. Was asked to sign a consent form. Now it was explained the consultation fee was 150 euros. Nothing was mentioned about tests and what the cost would be. Waited 2 hours to be seen which was quite good. Was given bloods,EKG AND AN XRAY. ALL OF WHICH I HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD IN LOUGHLINSTOWN HOSPITAL AND WAS NEVER CHARGED EXTRA FOR. WAS TOLD AT THE END IT WOULD BE 458 EUROS. Bloody extortion. I dont feel like I was informed well enough i went in with my chest in bits never ever been so blindsided in my life. My chest hurts more now after that shock. My husband became ill - eventually he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. We went here on a saturday afternoon as it was close and he was in a lot of pain. Found the staff quite unfriendly and the doctor rather abrupt. Wrote a few prescriptions - ran a lot of expensive tests but discharged us with no real information. My husband found the public hospital - Vincents much friendlier and caring. For weeks afterwards the hospital kept calling him asking him to come back for more (expensive) tests. We advised our GP who told us to steer clear as they have a lot of exepensive machinery they want to use and as far as he could see the tests they were recomending were variations of ones they had already repeated. My husband later had a bad reaction to painkillers so I drove him to the Beacon. They were closing and didn't really know what to do so called an ambulance from Vincent's who came and got us and took us there. Would never use again if we dont have to. read more

Went for surgery with dr Fitzgerald who I can't fault. She was blunt and straight to the point which is what I want with doctors. The nurses are absolutely amazing at the beacon, I was in over night and from the get go the nurses where brilliant and thoughtful. The only thing that I thought was a bit ugh bout my experience was the nurse at check out. She spent more time asking everyone what they got done and where they where from and who they knew from that area to let anyone know what they where waiting for. I was first in that morning to be discharged followed by 3 other patients so not busy by any means, it took her nearly an hour to come back over to me to take the drain out of my arm. When she was doing that I asked how much longer wait til I can go. Apparently I was free to go when ever she just forgot to take the thing out of my arm!!! As I was getting up to leave another nurse entered the room and at the top of her voice she again let everyone know how many bandages I was given by the dr to bring home. I felt as if I was after robbing them by her tone of voice and declaration of it. After a lovely experience from everyone else I felt she dropped the tone with her nosiness and treatment of people. read more

Waited 7 hours in total in a&e,found the staff over worked and stressed.spent must of the day on a chair,not a pleasant experience with back ache.At 7.30 had enough of the drug cocktails and due to having a chronic illness ,decide to go home.the doctor was not a pretty man when I told him, Iwas not able health wise to stay any longer. By far the best Hospital available to medical insurance holders in Dublin, I have been there several times and it is excellent with superb staff and up to the minute technology. One small caveat would be slightly antiquated broadband, but its only a small thing in light of the marvelous work they do. Their A&E is also super efficient, with calm and expert staff able to deal with any emergency, although as already noted they don't deal with public ambulances. read more

warning - be careful if you have to have surgery there! i was due to have a major operation which took a lot of pre planning as there is a long recovery period. booked time off work etc. op cancelled at last minuet as nobody had taken note of the medication i was on despite having 2 or 3 expensive consultations with my surgeon there. was then told by a nurse (not doctor )to stop taking the meds for the next few weeks. the pre-op checklist was done by phone the day before yet there seem to be a few medications that you have to be off a while before they can operate safely on you. crazy, careless management! read more

My girlfriend experienced some truly appalling health care in the beacon hospital today. She was told to go to a&e after her gp said she had a severe urinary tract infection. After eventually being admitted she was treated like an inconvenience by the staff who really had no interest in her at all. Eventually she was given a pain killer and a cannula was put in for the drip her GP told her she would need. Blood was taken and no drop was given. Barely able to stand she was then kicked out of her bed and told to sit down in the hallway until the consultant was ready to see her. Eventually he saw her and told her that she had a urinary tract infection (which she knew) and that she would need antibiotics, which she could have gotten off her gp if that's all that was needed. She was then discharged and told to go home but not before paying the hefty bill of €450. Heath insurance or not that's a big hit to the wallet. All and all I have to say that the level of service and care provided by the beacon is truly horrendous and I strongly urge people who have an issue to go to any other hospital other than the beacon. Not to mention we were there for 6 hours. read more
