He is known as the father of Black history. The park is a triangular micro park that features a bronze sculpture of Dr. Woodson seated on a circular stone memorial. The front of the sculpture reads "Carter G. Woodson" and "Father of Black History". The back of the sculpture has the inscription "Truth comes to us from the past, then like, the like gold washed down from the mountains". The sculpture is the work of Ray Kaskey. The park has a few benches and is somewhat landscaped. Because the park is off a very busy road, it is not peaceful and has many distractions. The sculpture and park itself have seen better days and could use a little TLC. The sculpture could use a power wash, and the park could use a cleanup and grass reseeding.

It's a very good tribute to him. The bridge is in very good condition after the years. Bridges are often pretty boring. It's the views that make them interesting. This bridge itself looks nice. It's not looking all rusted like many others because it's been kept up by the city. The bridge is also popular for the good views, too. It's located on Calvert Street, which connects Adams Morgan and Woodley Park, two eccentric neighborhoods. The bridge is also located above Rock Creek Park. It has such a great view of the creek. There's also a trail that runs along the creek filled with bicyclists and runners. Even though it's only a bridge, it's still fun to walk across. It's the best way to get between Adams Morgan and Woodley Park. There's a Capital Bikeshare on the east side.

It's not the one close to the Martin Luther King Memorial at the Tidal Basin. This is much more simplistic. If you've been to the new memorial, you'll be shocked at the difference. It should only take you about a minute to see everything here. The memorial is literally a marble slab. It may or may not be surrounded by flowers. The memorial looks a lot like a tombstone. It looks too obscure to honor such a great president. Many people thought so, leading to the new one with all the quotes and statues. It can be found outside of the National Archives.
