All I can say is that this jetty is long, really, really, really long. I suspect that there is a pretty good reason for that, and that it takes quite a long time for the water to actually get deep enough for a decent sized ship to anchor, and considering Beachport used to be a whaling port, that is sort of to be expected. Anyway, I suspect that these days the only thing that this jetty is used for is for fishing, and for people to walk from one end to the other, and back again, just to see how long it actually is.
