Service was amazing. Food was nothing special, but not bad. Drinks heavily watered down. Menu said they charged gratuity for 6 adults or more. Went with my husband and 4 kids (ages 12 and below) and was charged gratuity and a random "service charge" on top of that. Way to overpriced for any family trying to eat there. Today was my last time visiting this place. Apart from a nice view of the ocean they don't have anything to offer. And today the last straw was when we had to literally flag down our server after 20 minutes of waiting, oh please, serve us! She just mumbled "well, what would you like"...And they tried to upcharge us on the check compared to the prices on the menu. When the question arose the waitress played dump and said "oh that's the price with the sales tax". Really?? The manager came and says "that's because you pay with a credit card". Not really. There is a line at the bottom of the check that states what you pay with cash and what you pay with credit card. My friend was paying with cash and has the same prices on her check. Any time I see mediocre reviews and not a lot of pictures I figure it's because people don't know how to order. I pride myself on being a professional orderer. And once again I proved myself right again. We came on Sunday for a quick drink and appetizer before we head out to dinner since we are staying in the RV Resort on site. We ordered their signature drinks, a dozen raw oysters and ceviche. Everything was top notch. The prices are a tad steep but all is expected in a shore town during spring break. Expensive food and slow service. My boyfriend's drink took 45 minutes to come out and my $17 salad wasn't good. I got up and got my own silverware once I was tired of staring at my food without being able to eat it. We placed our drink orders and our meal orders at the same time. But literally three out of the seven of us even ended up getting our water. Our bill was $75 for a burger and fries and a chicken salad with two alcohol drinks. That's insane. If they are going to charge those prices they need to do better. Avoid this place and go to the Seahorse place up the coast. read more

We wanted some seafood so we chose to go to the Beachfront Deck to eat. We were disappointed to see only shrimp and catfish on the menu. Our family chose shrimp tacos and grilled catfish. We had calamari for an appetizer and it was very basic, not seasoned like we are accustomed to. Plus they served it only with marinara, we prefer a creamy dip. The grilled shrimp tacos were very good, as well as the grilled catfish. The big turnoff was that when we asked for water (to go along with our mixed drinks), we were brought bottled water and charged $2 a bottle. I really wanted to love this place. I've been coming to Surfside Beach multiple times a year since I was born. Our go to places have been here since the 80s so I'm always excited to try a new place that pops up on the island. First off on positives... this place has a great beach vibe being right on the water, bar was cool and employees were friendly. Downstairs area was neat with the fire pit, games, etc. The restaurant area is a little too open as everyone's hair was blowing like crazy and everyone was trying to crowd around the few tables behind the glass (I'm sure they will install more of these glass windows to help with this). Great views though throughout the whole place. Was fun watching the pelicans fly over and the waves rolling in. Unfortunately, for me the dinner was not a good value. $9 for an order of queso that was enough for not even 20 chips. Literally tasted like melted velveeta. They did bring us more when we complained about the amount we received, but let us know this isn't the norm. $11 for chicken finger basket and $13 for a 5 shrimp basket. A can of Dos Equis was $6 (maybe that's normal?) and $2 for a bottle of water when a case of the same sells for $5. No free refills on iced tea as you get that in a bottle too. I understand the water issue here on the island but both Red Snapper Inn and Kitty's have a system for this. Onto the menu, I don't understand why a place on the Gulf of Mexico only offers catfish? There are tons of other fish they could offer (snapper, redfish and flounder to name a few). The worst part was we ordered together and they forgot my shrimp basket so my boyfriend was done with his chicken strip meal before my shrimp came out. We were very understanding due to how new this place is. We saw multiple tables never get bussed even as customers sat there waiting for over 15-20 minutes. When they asked 2 different servers to bus it both said sorry that's not my table. In my opinion, that's a bad customer service attitude. Either bus it yourself or find someone else to do it. Maybe they were understaffed, not sure. The owner did visit each table which was great and he welcomed our constructive criticism. Based on my first experience here, if this place wasn't new I would have given it 2 stars, I am giving one more since there is potential here!!! The worst customer service i've ever received, that we eventually had to walk out. My boyfriend and I waited ten minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink since they saw that we haven't had a server yet, and we told them the alcoholic beverages we wanted. fifteen minutes later we were finally introduced to a rude server who just came up and asked "what do you want?" no introduction or niceness. we still hadn't received our drinks and waited patiently to see if it was going to get any better. five minutes later we get dry oysters with no sauces or crackers. we still have no sight of our drinks yet, and asked our server; she had an attitude saying it was all the bartenders fault. we then walked out, we weren't going to have that bad of service while there were only about five customers and tons of servers. work on y'all's customer service, PLEASE!!! read more

My mom and I were down the week of June 20th. We eat clean so going out is hardly ever an option especially when we are out of town and don't know much about the local restaurants. We were tired of cooking on our vacation so we decided to venture out to Beachfront after looking at the menu and reading reviews. Some reviewers complained about water (it was bottled) being a dollar but I was thankful they weren't serving tap water. We were so happy with our dinner we went back the next evening. Our first time in this area and was not sure where we wanted to eat. Great choice! Plenty of space we were not seated close to other tables which I love due to CoVID and outside seating was full (Saturday night around 8). The food was amazing. We Oyster Rockefeller and Boudin Balls as an appetizer and Shrimp Dinner and Chicken fried steak. Everything was seasoned and delicious! Our waiter was Tristian and she was amazing and personable. Me and some buddies did a funday Sunday motor cycle ride to this spot that was really on a Saturday. And I have to say it was a cool place to hang out, big bar area and a large dining room for plenty of guess and lots of tv's to watch games or jeopardy what ever you fancy. This place also has outdoor seating that you can look right out at the beach and ocean front pretty romantic if you into that stuff or a drunken outdoor swim suit party if you into that stuff. I'll take the romance I'm married and will go blind looking at half naked women ask my wife and the eye poke I got at the last one. Now to the food I had a philly chess steak it was damn good, one buddy had a club sandwich I don't know why club sandwiches come in multiple pieces but I'm glad it does because I ate one and it was damn good too. Matter fact none of those hungry biker dudes I was with complained about the food or the cold beer we had. Try this place if you in the area I did and you know I will tell you no lie. This was an interesting place. Our server was very sweet but our kids food came out as we finished our meals. The kids meal came with a weird side that kind of looked like gravy? But thicker gravy? After about 10 minutes I looked around and realized there were 30 people on the deck and there was one server taking an order for a large party. This place really disappointed me. We came to the beach excited to get crawfish here. We sat down and ordered 3 pounds of crawfish. After about 10 minutes, the waitress comes to our table and says they are now out of crawfish (which I understand happens sometimes at busy restaurants). The problem was- the table behind us ordered 3 pounds of crawfish AFTER we ordered ours and they received their crawfish about 2 minutes before we were told they were out. Horrible customer service when a table who came after we ordered receives their crawfish and we don't. The manager knew we were upset about the situation and he did not want to confront us. Poor service and management. Will not be returning- very disappointing. Update: we just received our meals after deciding to order something different. Mashed potatoes are hard as a rock. The staff walks around and vapes whenever. When I saw what the female servers wore, I wondered if they had a strip club attached. Absolutely terrible service from management! We came here on 4/17/22. At first the service seemed slow, but it was through no fault of our server. She seemed like she was doing her best and was super sweet. We ordered 4 orders of oysters Rockefeller first. 2 orders came out about 15 minutes later. It took another 20 minutes for the 3rd to come out (and was cold) and then the 4th order didn't come out until we were leaving. We ordered a salad with fried chicken on it, but was brought out with grilled shrimp. The real issue was that we ordered 5 pounds of crawfish and when they came out, it didn't look at all close to 5 pounds. (We boil crawfish ourselves all the time and know what 5 pounds looks like). We asked our waitress about it and she said she would check to see if the kitchen mixed ours up with a smaller order. The MANAGER then comes out and says that he weighed and plated the crawfish himself and was POSITIVE it was 5.12 pounds. We assured him it was not 5 pounds so he went and got a scale. When he brought this scale out he said WORD FOR WORD "what am I gonna get when this reads over 5 pounds?" So he weighs them and it reads 3 POUNDS! We were getting charged for 5 pounds but only getting 3. And then when he realized he was wrong, there was no apology. He simply said he was going to go fire his cook that minute...even though he literally told us before he weighed it that HE was the one who weighed and plated it...He took the plate and offered us 25% off, but we were done with this place. We said we would pay for the food on the table and nothing else and we were leaving. (We had ordered another 5 pounds of crawfish originally that hadn't even come out yet, but we told them to go ahead and cancel that.) By the time we were leaving, there was at least one other table complaining about being short on crawfish and another table complaining about burnt terrible tasting food. I will say that the food we actually got did taste good, but this manager completely ruined this experience for us. He was rude and arrogant. read more

I found that I enjoyed this establishment more than expected. We visited twice and both times the service and smiles were consistent. I ordered the snow crab, it was super salty and spicy. Food was brought out at different times, so I completely finished my food and my family still had not gotten their food an hour later. They were out of many of the food items. When my family's food was brought out it was cold, and missing items that we ordered. Menu is not the same menu that there is pictures of on yelp. My family and I decided to check this place out for a late lunch. Our waitress was awesome and she did a great job. The food was acceptable. I got the fried catfish and it was a giant fillet. Well cooked and very tasty. My wife ordered the fried shrimp and said they were cooked to her liking. My 4 year old ordered the kids spaghetti and while she was pleased I wasn't. It looked like whoever cooked it had forgot to drain the noodles. It was very runny. I attempted to order a beer and my first 3 choices were out. Annoying, but it was a Monday so could have been a very busy weekend. We ordered a water for my daughter and we're told we had to pay for it (weird but not the end of the world). The thing that really got me to drop this a star is this restaurant is in my opinion already over priced but on top of that they charge a fee if you don't pay with cash. Told I couldn't go in to the restaurant because I had a bikini top. Posted nowhere at all about this rule so it was really embarrassing to have a bartender call me out the second I walked through the door. This is an OCEAN FRONT bar. I just came from the BEACH. They did however, not obey the other rules posted. Their owner/manager was out on the porch smoking a cigarette right next to the no smoking signs. We have been here three times and I wanted to make sure I gave them a fair review. All three times I have gotten the fish tacos. They were okay. My daughter got the hamburger and she said it was pretty good too. I bet Thursday through Saturday the place would be awesome for some drinks. The service was so so.
