We could see kids having fun in the beer garden play area, great to see. I would recommend The Star Inn to anyone looking for a relaxed environment at a pub. Excellent service, I shall visit again.

I was told a lot of good things about this restaurant, I went there with my family and my first…read morethought of the restaurant was not good, the menu looked more like a flyer and not professional at all, after ordering our drinks the waitress said she will be back with our drinks and to take order for the food, after a few minutes she returned to take the food order but with no drinks, we did our order and still had to wait a few more minutes for our drinks, our starters did arrive fairly early and that was the only highlight of the restaurant, after finishing the starter we had to wait over half an hour for our main course, I had ordered a bacon and cheese burger served with chips and salad, the burger was too over cooked and was not enjoyable, after the main corse we ordered dessert and again had a long wait for our desert, I had a chocolate fudge cake what was their special desert for the evening, the cake was served with ice cream and was very dry I had to borrow some cream from someone else's desert to be able to eat it, I was not happy with my visit to the star inn and probably would not chose to return.

Very good traditional pub next to Pevensey Castle, all in all the best pub in "town". A fair share…read moreof regional cask ales on offer, with a pleasant interior, and an elaborate, picturesque beer garden on the side. Nice staff, too. Perfect place to drop by after a visit to the castle, it opens at noon. Higher standard food than usual, too. It's right next to the castle, can't miss it. If you have a few hours to kill in Pevensey Bay (the castle and pub are a 10 minute walk from the station), especially if you arrive by train and can't leave until the middle of the afternoon (there are only four trains in either direction between Hastings and Brighton a day, two in the morning, two in the afternoon). What better excuse to kill a few pints?

The pub is large with a nice bar at the entrance that was well attended by the locals the night we were there. There is a large dining area further in, which also looked to be very popular. The pub food we enjoyed with our drinks was excellent. The staff were very nice and eager to be sure we had all we wanted. The bar, at least, is very dog friendly. At least 3 locals brought theirs in with them. The staff knew 2 of them by name. They also have a very nice looking "beer garden" in the side yard. On a warm, sunny day it would be perfect for enjoying a pint of one of their beer on tap!

Being the bank Holiday weekend, most decent establishments should be busy regardless. For those who don't know the venue, it's not the biggest pub but you get 30 people in there or so it would seem full. More or less every table had people on it, bar maybe 1 or 2. Those that were there when we loaded in all stayed, we have definitely played to less people in the 6 years nearly that we've been going. The 'man' in question is the landlady's husband and had been drinking all night, he stopped us playing in the middle of our second set, which to start off with is just plain rude anyway but then the following ensues. We happened to be filming the gig and it luckily picked all this up. We want to let musicians and gig goers alike know how both the landlady and her 'delightful and well mannered' husband treat musicians and bands who take the time do them a service. The last couple of years have been hard enough for musicians and shit like this does not help. We've never witnessed this before in the decade that the musicians individually have been gigging on the circuit. It's also worth mentioning despite having in writing that they would pay us a certain amount they underpaid us and are completely in breach of contract. We want to thank the customers that took the time to come see us outside and thank us for what we did and that were also in total disbelief at what had happened.
