I have been wanting to stop by here for some time now. Donuts are my absolute favorite! It's only about 20 mins from Hammonasset beach so I grabbed a half dozen before heading to the beach for the day. They had a wide variety even for being later in the morning. Lemon, strawberry frosted with sprinkles, and chocolate glazed were a few I chose. They also had giant apple fritters and cinnamon buns! I got the apple fritter and it was delicious! The pieces of apple were my favorite part. The inside is old school with tables and chairs for seating.

Probably the best glazed donuts in a LONG time!! They were super soft and comfy! The glaze wasn't overly sweet, and it had the right amount. The flavor and texture of their glazed donuts reminds me of a mom & pop bakery back home in Hawaii, that I grew up with. We will most definitely be back! Pairs well with a nice espresso for dunking!

I try to visit a CT donut shop if serious CT donut fans or experts rate it highly. Although it's 45 minutes from home, Beach Donuts has been on my radar as such a place. It has an old school vibe. Nothing wrong with the looks, but atmosphere and branding are not selling points. It doesn't have to be in a beach area. People will flock to spots with good food. I ordered a half dozen donuts. Service was fine, but not something that stood out. I had to ask the person helping me not to put another donut against the chocolate icing of a Boston Cream. Never met a Boston Cream fan who likes smudged icing. LOL I tried two donuts. Beach makes my favorite donut that my favorite donut shop makes -- the long glazed cruller. It was very good. Good crisp outer texture. Fresh inner texture. The glaze adhered to the donut well. The color was darker than I'm used to for a non-chocolate cruller. I'm not sure what causes the different color, but the taste was right on. I also tried a Crumb Donut, which is somewhat similar to a Buttercrunch that some places serve. It was fresh and tasty. A well executed donut. For what it's worth, I asked my 11 year old how he liked his Boston Cream and he said it was about average. My wife thought her glazed cruller was "almost" as good as her favorite place. Beach Donut is a very good donut shop. I get why people rate it so highly. Especially if you have fond memories from visiting during area beach trips. I've come to believe that it's hard to be completely objective about scoring certain well loved kinds of businesses such as donut shops, because you have a strong sense of loyalty to your favorite donut shop. I'll give it my best shot though. Beach Donut is much better than a national franchise type place, but it's a half step off my favorite CT donut shop and other donut shops I put in the top tier. One of the most important parts of a donut shop visit, is the sense of shock and awe you experience at first seeing the number of donuts, different types of donuts and the aesthetics of the donuts in the case. I didn't feel that sense of shock and awe when I saw Beach's donut case. They had fewer donut types than my favorite place. The donuts I saw looked fairly standard in terms of type and most of them didn't pop visually. It seems like Beach executes the donuts they make at a fairly high level, but for me, Beach doesn't quite rise to the level of my favorite CT donut shops. 4.25 Stars

Super cute local shop where all the donuts are made with love. They have coffee, donut, and breakfast options. All their donuts are fantastic and there are so many different flavors. The apple fritter was unreal and the size of my head. The fruity pebbles was melt in your mouth and the cereal on top gave it an excellent crunch that was awesome. Very reasonably priced as well.

On my way to the Clinton Outlets, I stopped by the Beach Donut Shop, for a little sweet fix. While I'm typically not into donuts, I'll occasionally try one from an independent maker. This donut shop isn't particularly flashy, and the space could use a bit of renovational work. As I approached the front counter to place my order, there was a plethora of donuts right on the counter. The lady working here, told me what each of the flavors was. These are substantial donuts, bigger than the average. I went with double chocolate. I also got a hot coffee. These two things cost me $4.00 together, what a bargain! I sat down and enjoyed this delightful rich chocolate goodness. It wasn't overly sweet or crumbly. It was pretty perfect. The coffee was also solid. It was dark roast, hot and delicious! It's a good thing this place is an hour away, I would probably be going here too often. If you are in the area, or are passing by I encourage you to try these delicious donuts, they are divine!

I ordered a little piggy croissant and it was so good. I like the options on the type of bread to use. I took a dozen donuts to work. And every one thought they were so delicious. It can be pricey, but they are so good. I went right when they opened for breakfast so I got quick service and they gave me the fresher donuts. It's definitely a good little spot that feels like a small cafe.

I couldn't speak more highly of a donut shop. Beach Donuts is fricken AMAZING! They have both cake and yeast donuts and so many different kinds it's hard to choose just 12! (Which is why I usually end up walking out with 1 1/2 dozen haha) Unlike most homemade donuts shops in the area, they keep making donuts much later, my 4 year old and I just went at 11:30 on a Tuesday and they still had every single kind we wanted...and then some! Red velvet was a nice surprise. They maple bacon and maple frosted are to die for, and the sour cream, muuuah so so SO so good. I like the originals and all the funky ones too, my son's favorite is the fruity pebbles, not going to lie, I love it too! He asked for Donuts on his birthday and was SO excited to go to his favorite donut shop. The owner and the staff are SO friendly, I just love them. They are always so sweet to my son and hand him an extra donut or rainbow bagel or juice box, we have been Beach fans for as long as I can remember and this is our (ALWAYS) go to for donuts, I won't waste calories on anything other than Beach. I really just can't say enough about the staff, I'm not sure of the man's name who almost always takes care of us when we are there (I'm not sure how I haven't gotten his name yet!) He is so sweet and so kind, we need more people like him in this world, The owner is funny and loud and tells me how much he appreciates our business. In a time when small businesses are closing, I am so grateful for businesses and staff like them, and am so happy that they made it through the pandemic and still flourish, and surely always will. My family has a family business we have had since 1978 and we love and appreciate all our loyal customers, old and new. Thank you to everyone who is part of beach donuts, we love you all and are so grateful to have such an amazing place with amazing people AND to-die-for donuts just 15 minutes away! Remember to toss them a $5 (or more) in the tip jar, with small businesses, the tips are greatly appreciated and here they are ESPECIALLY deserved. Thank you again Beach, you have been a tradition for me and my son for 4 years since he was born, and myself for several decades. We love you and will forever be your loyal fans!

By far not the fanciest or flashiest donut shop I've ever been to, but by far are some of the best donuts in the area! Beach donut has a great selection of donuts, sandwiches, and coffees/beverages. We got a chocolate donut and a vanilla glazed with sprinkles! Iced coffee was strong and delicious. Overall a solid place that hits the spot.

Love the cinnamon crullers. Wish they could make the same crullers only dipped with powder sugar. That would be a home run

The dough from the cream filled tasted very great, like it absorbed too much fryer oil. Yet it was also dry. The flavor of the cream was not the best either. The frosting on the maple bacon had a good flavor but again, the donut dough just wasn't as fluffy or fresh tasting as I'd have preferred. The staff were very friendly and there are lots of options. We stopped in on a Saturday morning and got some bagels as well as a pistachio muffin. The donuts looked really good but I had a hankering for a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel and the one I had was delicious. The bagel wasn't as big as I'm used to in NYC but that was great because it was easy to eat and not overly doughy. The real star was the pistachio muffin. That was hands down the best muffin I've ever had. The inside was crowded with a group of older gentlemen holding court but we were able to get a table on the sidewalk to eat and watch the world go by. The ladies behind the counter couldn't have been friendlier. Just super service. It was really nice. Prices were reasonable as well. If you're in Norwich, you should definitely put this on your list.

There was a bunch to choose from, so I am sure some remain constant. Three donuts were tried and my thoughts on each are below. Orange Creamsicle - This was brioche filled with orange cream mousse topped with orange glaze, whipped cream, and an orange slice. This tasted exactly like what one would expect. The icing was pleasant, while the whipped cream was very light and airy. Bananas Fosters - This was a banana glazed brioche topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and a banana chip. Again, this tasted like what one expects when ordering this type. This was very solid. There was a nice balance of flavors and extremely large too. Bismark - This was filled with raspberry jam and topped with whipped cream, raspberries, and powdered sugar. Again, I could not believe how light the whipped cream was. The raspberries were a nice touch on top and filling, very tasty. Will I go back? Yes, I would.

The cookie is soft with chocolate bits, under it is more chocolate goodness with the brownie layer! Yum! I sat in my car and enjoyed each bite! I decided to get a 12 count mini donut with cinnamon sugar, Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, and cinnamon roll drizzle and it was phenomenal! The spot itself is super cute inside and it's located in a mini plaza with a couple other things around. They have an entire wall dedicated to a chalk board that you are free to write on. As well as a plastic axe throwing board that you can entertain your self with while they prepare your donuts. You'd better study the menu in advance, because there are over 20 choices including Dulce De Leche, Pistachio, and Maple Syrup. #3 - How about a sprinkle of toppings over your iced drizzle? How about choosing among 15 possibles, including Biscoff Cookie crumbles, Chips Ahoy crumbs, and Fruity Pebbles? The base price for donuts without a drizzle or a topping is $4.75 for a half dozen. You can go up to a 40-count bucket for $20. Charges are extra for the drizzles and toppings. We picked up a box of six mini donuts with various drizzles -no toppings - and were charged around $11. And honestly, that seems high because a six-piece sampler with drizzle and topping included was listed on the menu at $7. So, something weird happened at the register and we missed it. The service was great under the circumstances, because there was just one person working there and she was dealing with our order and two prior orders simultaneously. We saw her making shakes and making donuts for the other two parties between the time we ordered and the time she started making our order. From the time we walked in, to the time we walked out, it was a 30-minute experience. Accordingly, I did see some improvement opportunities for increased staffing and clearer pricing. The donuts were great -super cute and delicious. The store is cute too, with plenty of color and graphics. The donuts are made to order, so be sure you get close to the left side of the counter and see your donut dough dropped into the hot oil, float downstream, get flipped over, then dropped onto a cooling tray.
