Technician exchanges the radiator. Not this time, Cottman performs a coolant pressure test, finds no leaks, and presumes radiator is fine because it's not leaking. Sees condenser pulled off to the side and charges to reinstall it(138$ ish total - 2 screws.) Charging to do something that's not going to fix the client original concern. When in all reality a technician has already diagnosed the radiator to be clogged yet doesn't have time to replace it for said client. Could've been a easy couple hundred for a shop, and a couple hours for their hardworking techs but the host didn't stay in the phone long enough for the client to explain properly.

Most in the community only know them by reputation for transmission work. However, many may not realize the shop does almost everything. When my son's used car began having transmission issues a Checkerd Flag Toyota recommendation was to have Price's take a look. I did so and scheduled with front desk staff Amanda who was fantastic. The older model Honda was diagnosed quickly with needing a transmission rebuild. I also asked for an estimate on brakes, rotors and calipers and a few smaller items. A detailed written estimate accompanied and it was not cheap. But I had already done my homework and knew it was more reasonable than the dealer and another local shop. They also provide military discounts which is a rarity in this field. Ultimately after less than a week of thinking about what to do the manager Les called me. I decided to move forward and scheduled the work. Les provided a ride home and also picked me up when repairs completed. The car was delivered as promised after four days. There was a lot to do and I felt very comfortable with the skilled technicians that have worked at Price's for years. They also back up all transmission work with a 3/36k warranty. Other shops do not offer that extensive of a warranty. Also their warranty is good coast to coast as they have agreements with shops across the country. The only caveat is the car must be returned for inspection and sign off on warranty around 10 days after initial work complete. Checkout with Amanda was smooth and the price was to the penny as promised. But wait! Amanda informs me that she took it upon herself to have the car receive a Virginia state inspection that was due in days. That is one of few services Price's does not offer. It passed and they provided it as a thank you for my business. WOW!, what other shop would do this...few in my opinion. Follow up with shop to sign off on the warranty was completed in less than two weeks. I informed them the car operated like it was new. The shifting was now smooth, braking perfect and no more wobbly wheel. Other items also fixed such as a leaky overhead gasket. The inspection took around 15 minutes and I enjoyed a cup of coffee. Price's remains a family owned local shop. They have fleet contracts with City of VB, Chesapeake among others for a reason. They are trusted, get the job done right and are affordable. I cannot stress the fact it's their integrity that I appreciated the most. They wanted my business enough to follow up which I liked and the price never increased when it could have with a few small items added. 100% RECOMMEND! Closed half day Friday and weekends.

Ac compressor failing…read more With that information, I called Christian brothers automotive, requested a temporary ac recharge and said I do not want a compressor replacement, the desk representative asked me to come in, said he could get the recharge done and additionally give me a quote for my own knowledge since it's been 4 years. I get there, price is still $1400 for a compressor, $2500 for complete replacement as expected. I decline the work and ask to continue with the recharge, he then tells me No, and the reasoning behind is it falls under a OSHA violation. You need to tell me this information before I waste time coming to your shop hoping I'll purchase a $1500-2500 repair instead of wasting my time. I understand business but that is wrong.

Monday 11/25 I had my car towed to American Transmission Center (ATC) at 5844 VA Beach Blvd to…read morereplace a pair of braided cooler lines from my transmission to my radiator in which I provided brand new flare lines for. I was quoted days prior to arrival by Rick and inform my vehicle would be worked on between jobs and done by end of day Monday or early Tuesday morning. My job requires travel so I wanted to be around to avoid any storage fees. I stopped by shortly after to clear up some confusion about the job. Wendell mentioned dropping the transmission to install the lines that's going to cost more which I know in a million years for a gbody 2004r transmission you do not have to drop anything but them lines. Felt uneasy about Wendell info so I called back few hours late to emphasize to only work with the cooler lines, definitely not to drop my transmission, and anything else call first for my permission. Next day I called 7:30a to see if they started on my gbody and I was told they haven't but will soon. I called again 11:30p to check the status of my car and to inform them I won't be back in VA until late after hours. However, I didn't get to there because Wendell extremely rude self yelled at me stating verbatim that, " I'm a pain in his ass calling every hour on the hour and to not call again! He'll be done when he's done", and hung up on my face. I was an Aviation mechanic in the USN, completed multiple mechanical work on diesel trucks and rebuild 75% of my gbody with my bare hands! Without a lift I couldn't do the lines myself. I called back to speak to Wendell manager or a corporate number and he yelled, threw a tantrum, and argued so I hung up and called other ATCs. After speaking with other owners, I learned ATC is privately owned by different people and Rick & Wendell owns the military hwy spot. Wendell has a REPUTATION of being disrespectful, rude, nasty, angry, and very unprofessional. Rick is the reasonable and respectful business man who's going to lose his business with working alongside a scumbag like Wendell. I sent my military brother to ATC, Rick informed him that Wendell has been looking for fittings to my radiator for 4 hours. If he would've said that, I would've asked how much for a new radiator because I had problems finding the fittings myself. Again, I mentioned these things. I told Rick seize the job and I'll pay for what's been done and fix the rest. Rick said he'll call me back soon. Three hours go by and I called where Rick said they find the fittings and job completed. To conclude, the job was trash!! I wished Wendell energy would've match his quality of work because now my car has a whining noise when on, I found a loose fuel line to my carb, my carb is getting too much fuel, and it chokes out!! I HIGHLY recommend anyone NOT TO TAKE their car to ATC on VA Beach Blvd and most of the bad reviews at the other locations were meant for this location, people did not specify locations. Here's the kicker guys, I had my sylenoid replaced TWO TIMES. Get my car back for the 3RD GODDAMN TIME after being told it's GOOD TO GO, It's LEAKIN FUCKIN OIL! They neglected to put a crush washer on my oil pan. No problem, I go buy it and Aj and my father go to put it on, MY FUCKIN OIL PAN IS STRIPPED! Tow my car BACK to AAMCO, and they verify that it is indeed the pan and that I have to pay for it because ITS IN THEIR NOTES (but no one verbally tells me or my father SHIT) Go to fight it and Manager David said he WILL NOT pay for MY OIL PAN on his dime and they he will sympathize with me and work with me. Or put an oversize washer on my pan that will hold me over til my next oil change! But if I contact the higher ups, he WILL NOT WORK WITH ME (ALL SAID ON A RECORDED LINE,among other things). Call the headquarters, they only say 'it's in the notes' over and over and then proceeded to tell me all my engine work warranties are VPIDED because we TAMPERED WITH THEIR WORK when we removed the bolt! And stated 'well you may NOT want to keep using our services, but you should have just taken it back to us' They are crooks, they will milk you, money gouge you, and break your car to njckle and dime you. Heaven forbid your family goes there, they will call your family members to help u pay for your shit or go to them and BYPASS YOU Completely!!! Dont be scammed. Honestly, the homeless man on the corner prolly would have been a better mechanic then these people.
