Such diversification truly shows how the company walks the talk on it's commitment to diversity. You don't see as much diversity at the other Swiss banks. - Very good, bright and hardworking CEO Brady Dougan who comes from a very good and modest upbringing. He truly cares about the company, its clients and its people. - Top culture is to be innovative and international. A plus especially when comparing to the other Swiss banks. - They are innovative in their solutions and have a lot of bright people working for them to offer such solutions especially when looking at Investment Banking and premium ultra high net worth wealth management. - They often give employment opportunities to the hardworking bright "underdog" and will help the person to grow. Negatives: - As this is a big firm, there can be people at the lower of the totem pole that does not always fit into the real CS culture. But nothing in life is 100% perfect. - Since it is the 2nd biggest Swiss bank by assets, people always think the other bigger Swiss bank is better and thus CS could face doubts as the less better of the two. Bigger doesn't always mean better. CS did not have to rely on government support and honest tax payer's money thanks to excellent Risk Management and executive board with Brady leading the team.

I have to give this place 3 stars because there are both good and bad points to this bank…read more THE GOOD: Everyone speaks English, I can do my online banking all in English, all my statements come in English. This is precisely why I chose this bank; because I wasn't sure what other options I had as a German-challenged foreigner when I arrived in Switzerland 5 years ago. (Since then, I've found out that PostFinance also offers banking in English, but I think this was a later development.) Also, the facilities are pristine and not too shabby at all. I also like how you can get KeyClub points for using your credit card to redeem for reward purchases and stuff. :) THE BAD: Alas, the stereotypes do run a bit true here... they charge a lot of bank fees, and I have found the service to be a bit snobby. I've made decent money in Switzerland, but since I'm not a millionaire, I guess I might be out of my league here sometimes. Case in point--I tried to come here last year to ask if I could get a mortgage for buying a home in Zürich. (I thought I was going settle down here at the time and wanted to invest in something permanent.) But my client advisor and his trainee kind of laughed at me and said I couldn't afford anything here when they pulled up my bank accounts. And as I was single at the time, they also mentioned that I might meet a guy someday who made more money than me. Perhaps they meant it in a joking way, but I still kind of took offense. :/

Monday March 13 2023: called their hotline (there is no info online how to call any of their…read morebranches directly) to make an appointment to buy gold bars for SFR (cash). Proceeded through the phone menu to the final selection: are you a current customer? ("2" for "no"). Got a live person, told him I would be at the St. Gallen branch 2 days later, Wednesday, around noon, coming from Innsbruck, and made the appointment. Drove by the bank about 11:50, found parking about 10 minutes later (atrocious in that area), walked 5 min back to the bank: 12:05, and closed for lunch until 13:30. No word from the hotline "service" person - who knew I would be there around noon - about the lunch break. Back to the bank at 13:30: NO RECORD OF MY APPOINTMENT! And, even more ridiculous: We can't even help you, because you don't have an account with us. (which the "service" person had to know, since I selected that option in the phone menu). The person at the entrance counter was wonderful (at this point I only have sarcasm left) at displaying his disdain for a 'street urchin' who wasn't a bank customer. His demeanor oozed of 'please just get out'. There was no 'let's see what we can do to point you in a different/better direction', or ANYthing helpful about this person. Called the hotline again (they didn't offer), and: no record of my appointment. Absolutely inconceivable, unacceptable, and worst banking experience ever, in any country.

Opening an account usually takes half an hour and come prepared with: passport, work contract (study confirmation) and residence permit. The bank doesn't allow reviews on its Facebook page, this tells you something about its customer…read morecare. This relates to UBS Platinum cards service. I had a situation where multiple authorizations to debit my card were issued by different vendors (from different countries). This happen whenever you purchase something with a card: an authorization is issued first and it blocks money on your card. The vendor then issues another request to actually withdraw the money (this is when the transaction is booked on your card account). In one case a hotel authorized my card at check-in and later charged me at check-out: the authorization was not cancelled and so as a result a double amount was blocked. Hotel blames it on credit card company, that it takes 2-3 days for banks to process (7-10 days according to UBS platinum card center). In another case the card was authorized during online purchase which failed, so I didn't make the purchase but the money was blocked. Again, the vendor blames it on credit card company. Again the only solution from UBS platinum credit card center is to wait 7-10 days for automatic release. No one wants to investigate the process and unblock the amount earlier, and no one wants to establish who is responsible for this mess. As a result, over 1000 CHF blocked for no good reason, vendors blaming the credit card company and UBS platinum offering to simply wait 7-10 days. I find this level of service unacceptable.
