Keep your hats on for this review, my people! Here's the spice of life. We came here for dinner after spending the day on Vashon Island and weren't sure at first if we'd been to this BBQ place before. After parking and thinking back to around Covid, we remembered, yes, we had been here once before, and it was all "to go." So this time, we jumped at the chance to sit, relax, and enjoy. We ordered a pound of beef brisket and two orders of fried okra. The brisket was juicy, tender, and not too spicy. It comes dry with sauce on the side, and there are plenty of delicious sauces for your taste buds to enjoy. After receiving our brisket, my beloved and I wondered where our okra was. Watching everyone come and go, plus pickup orders, we thought it was taking a while because the okra is made fresh to order. Boy, were we wrong. After about 30 to 45 minutes of chatting and trying to figure out if it's made fresh, coated, then fried, or thawed and fried, we decided to ask. Luckily, we did because no one heard our order being called back to the kitchen. That was strange since the kitchen staff member who took our order had gone back to cooking. Maybe he thought it was dropped or the order had been made. No harm, no foul. After several eye-to-eye exchanges with staff and possibly the owner, he asked if we were waiting or needed something. We mentioned the two orders of okra. They apologized for not making the order, refunded us, and still made the okra. But wait, ladies and gentlemen, it gets even better! Not only did we get our okra, but I believe the owner also gave us smoked chicken, more brisket, sausage, beef ribs, and two delicious brownies. I know this is long, but I appreciate you sticking with me until the end. This was the perfect way to end our day! It was significant because it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary and 22 years together. We did not mention this to anyone until after everything had happened. If the owner reads this review, please know how much you blessed us with your transparency and effort to provide the best experience. The gentleman who gifted us the fantastic food and refunded our money for the okra, which he wasn't obligated to do, was incredibly kind and polite about the mistake. We truly appreciate his kindness, and he appreciated our patience and understanding. Overall, even without the extra attention, we will return because the restaurant is clean, the food stays fresh, and the service is excellent. It's incredible how some of the best BBQ is right here in Gig Harbor.

I lived in Texas for 14 years and have been to all the great BBQ spots in Kansas City. Here in Washington we just don't have great BBQ......or so I thought!!! This place does a nice job of making Texas style BBQ! Had the brisket and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Was given a free sample of the smoked pork butt (super tender and great smoke flavor) as well. Ordered a side of beans and they were really good too! Like a lot of Texas places you buy the meats by the pound and they do not offer combo plates. Really wish they did. Would have loved a plate with a couple sides. Good was really good though and I found a spot to scratch the BBQ itch!

I gave BBQ2U another try, and that one visit turned into many more. The meat is solid, though sometimes a little on the mild side, but the BBQ sauce more than makes up for it. It's fantastic--and they even bottle and sell it. Bring back an empty bottle, and you get half off your refill, which is a great deal. The fries are also excellent, always cooked fresh, and the staff here are incredibly friendly and personable. They take the time to chat and even remember you when you come back. I personally always get a brisket sandwich slathered in sauce.

I was pleasantly suprised with the BBQ here! Stumbled upon this place when I was looking for something to eat in the Gig Harbor area. Texas style bbq with a focus on delicious smokey beef with sauce on the side. Went with the 1 lb beef brisket (fatty cuts of course), 1lb pork ribs, beef brisket and brisket chili. Sadly, they forgot to add the two sausages I ordered so I cannot comment on them. Beef brisket was very succulent and delicious. The beef rib is always a favored cut of mine and always get this if available. Enough meat for two people as the rib is enormous. Pork ribs were very tender fall of the bone. Brisket chili was interesting riff that had sweet corn mixed in. BBQ for a bit over $100 it was enough food for about 5 meals so all in all not a bad deal. I hope they remember the sausages next time!

I was craving BBQ, and have been wanting to try BBQ2U for a while. My husband and I stopped in during the week after work looking for a quick bite to eat in the plaza. Not knowing what to expect, surprisingly, there was a solid line to order your food at the counter. There is plenty of seating inside, and they offer to-go and online orders. You wait in line to order, and then also wait at the counter to get your food. There isn't a "take your name" or "call your number" system, but the food is worth the wait. We both ordered brisket sandwich, with chips and a fountain soda. They also have a selection of unique bottled sodas. The sandwich was simple, but still delicious. They have an area with sauces you can choose from, but I wished they were labeled so you know what sauce was what. There's also an area to purchase sauces and rubs to take home, and other merchandise items. It's a cool local spot that filled my BBQ craving. There is a BBQ boat that I want to try next time!

So this is Texas bbq- which should be all about the brisket. And...the brisket was phenomenal! Best I've had outside of Texas. Perfect! The red hot sausage was good- but cooled off to fast. Great flavor though. The ribs were good. My wife love them. I prefer a little more fall off the bone, but no complaints. The pulled pork was not up to my standard. It's OK as I will be ordering brisket only next time. The sides- potato salad and French fries were great. The coleslaw was good - not perfect, but good. The beans had good reviews. The mac and cheese got thumbs down from the family. Overall- really good Texas bbq!

We tried a lot of what they had and everything was pretty amazing. We did the Texas Plate and added a meat. I had the turkey breast and chicken with Mac n cheese and fried okra. Hubby had the brisket and ribs with cole saw and baked beans. My favorite was the sauce, it was AMAZING. My next favorite, to my surprise, was the turkey breast. It was so flavorful and moist. The ribs, brisket, and chicken were excellent too, and even better with a bit of sauce. The sides: real macaroni and cheese, seriously, the real deal! The cole slaw is for the cole slaw purist, the beans were excellent, and the okra was good, but we took it out and it would have been better eaten in. I loved the decor. Not great. Had the family platter with brisket, smoked turkey and pulled pork. None of it was very flavorful. Had to drown it in sauce, which I didn't love. Mac and cheese was cold and mushy. Best BBQ in the Harbor!! We had the three meat tray that came with generous portions. the fast and friendly service made it great. The smoke was just right. The meat was tender and juicy. The bbq sauce runs sweet but the tabasco-Sriracha sauce mixed great to add heat without as much tang. The baked beans run sweet as well, but go to another level when mixed with the bbq and hot sauce. This is by far the best BBQ in the Gig harbor, Tacoma area. From the sausage to the BEEF ribs (beef ribs are hard to find) everything is melt in your mouth delicious. The BBQ Turkey oh my. Atmosphere is great and the employees are nice. This a is a must eat and I hope they stay for good. read more

BBQ is very different for everyone. We prefer the smoked goodness of BBQ2U and adding our own sauce as required. After reading some of the reviews, I will say it can be hit or miss. Sometimes it's perfect, and sometimes it's dry. But overall, we enjoy going there, getting our order to go, and eating on the family meal for days. Let me preface this by saying I am very picky, especially when it comes to meat. I was excited to try this place because of the great reviews and it's close to our house. It wasn't too crowded when we got there, but quickly filled up with a large dinner crowd. There's a "take a menu" sign when you walk in as well as a menu posted at the counter, where you order. There weren't a whole lot of sides to choose from, so I really hoped I would like the meat. The guys at the counter were very friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and portion sizes. My husband ordered the brisket and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich-both were prepared right there in front of us. We also ordered a side of beans and fried okra. Several of the Yelp reviews commented negatively on there being just one flavor of bbq sauce on the table. Let me tell you, you don't need it. The brisket literally fell apart it was so tender and had THE BEST flavor-it was delicious. My pulled pork sandwich was huge and equally delicious. Neither needed anything added to it. I've never had fried okra before, so I have nothing to compare it to. It, too, was super yummy. The beans were mediocre, but everything else was so amazing that it made up for it. Today I made my second attempt to go to Bbq2u because they had sold out and closed for the day by the time I got there on their opening day. Luckily it was worth the effort to go back and try again. I ordered the Texas tray with both pulled pork and brisket and potato salad and beans in the side. Some of the best beans I've ever had and everything else was great. The only 2 things I would change was they didn't have any limes for my Corona and I really would have liked a place to take a nap after eating that much food. read more

BBQ2U will not disappoint! This is one of my new favorites in Gig Harbor. They have done an excellent job and have really put together great flavors. It reminds me a lot of Cooper's in Dallas. The smoked turkey, brisket and spare ribs are fabulous! The large portions are moist and yummy. The relish sides are a plus. The Okra is bland and the beans are too sweet though. We will keep going back because the main meat dishes are spot on and it's a little bit of Texas in the great NW! Our suggestions are: 1). Have a vanilla ice cream available to make root bear floats with the yummy bottles of root beer, 2). hot fresh cornbread, 3). pecan pie 4). hot soft dinner rolls, 5). seasoning - salt, pepper and season salt - in the okra corn meal mixture, 6). Confirm plastic wear inventory for example knives and 7). Ranch style pinto beans. read more

I can't stay away! Lunch today was amazing as usual! The people that work behind the counter are always so joyful and have big smiles on their faces. They also encourage me to sample all different kind of meats which means I end up walking out with way more barbecue than I need! I must say it never goes to waste! It is really nice to have another really good BBQ option in the area. We tried the brisket (the best!), ribs (a little to peppery for our taste), pulled pork, and turkey. Everything was well smoked and we enjoyed it all. The sides were good also. The attitude and service from the staff (owners?) really stood out. They took the time to point out a better way to make our order to maximize the amount of meat we got and even gave us a little more pulled pork when they forgot our ribs. Very friendly and engaging. We ordered the smoked turkey, chicken and pulled pork for our Groom's dinner last week per the quantity recommended on the price sheet. The guys on the phone and at the store were ALWAYS very friendly and helpful. We had the food delivered to our home, and it arrived right on time, which was GREAT because we had 50+ hungry people! The food arrived with huge tubs of BBQ sauce, pickles, onions and peppers...which was such a surprise to us! The food was SUPERB (everyone commented on it)...and, even with the young hungry crowd we had, we still had a lot of leftovers...which we shared =) I HIGHLY recommend BBQ2U for any large gathering. I like the spot, good fried okra! We ordered the Texas tray for $12 - comes with a meat and 2 sides. Chicken was good but definitely needs BBQ sauce since it's on the dry side. Biggest complaint by far - needs a second cashier and food prep person. The line moves slow and I'm glad we got there before the rush. They cut the meat in front of you which isn't necessary and/or if so, needs a second line to keep it moving. Good place to bring kids, but again, they could use more than 2 high chairs. Also, directions/instructions for bussing your own trays, it wasn't clear and we had guests ask us. I'd come here again for the fried okra! read more

The brisket is amazing and the sauce is very good. The pork and chicken were not amazing but still very good. Good amount of meat, but the size of the sides are kind of a joke, especially for coleslaw and potato salad. But I suppose that's what made the price reasonable. read more
