I have an aversion to having my picture taken, and I usually avoid it at all costs. However, Dr. John Merrill recently performed a complete restoration of my teeth, and I am very proud of the work he did. He is opening a new practice, and I wanted to add a testimonial to his website, together with photos, to show my appreciation. To do this meant that I needed a good commercial photographer who would be willing to lead me through the process, as I clam up in front of cameras and I see myself as the most unphotogenic person in the country. In searching for a photographer, I viewed numerous websites of professional photographers with various types of photographs, paying particular attention to close-up headshots. When I came to Bryan's website, I looked no further. I liked his photos and displays, and I thought they had an artistic flair that seemed to be missing in many of the photos that I had seen elsewhere. I thought that this is the photographer that I needed to get the best from me. When I spoke with Bryan, I knew that I had made the right decision. He was attentive, understanding, and was result-oriented. He even understood my camera phobia and my excessive vanity. He really had to be a psychological counselor throughout the entire process! It was a pleasure to work with Bryan from the first time I first spoke to him until I received my final shots. His home studio is comfortable and inviting, and is beautifully decorated, for which he proudly gives all the credit to his wife. He is obviously a highly intelligent and skilled professional photographer who works with excellent equipment; however, he also has good instincts and good ideas, and he brings artistic vision to his projects. But, in my opinion, what sets Bryan apart from many other photographers is his personality and the way he treats his clients. He spoke to me as if I were a friend, rather than someone that he had just met. He is down to earth and funny, and he immediately put me at ease. He was always making me laugh, and, as a result, I got a lot of photos with great big smiles! I had more good photos from this one shoot than I have ever gotten before. Bryan was the photographer for my parents 60th anniversary party. We did an outside portrait session before the event and candid photos inside during the event. When contacting Bryan, he responded very quickly. My Mom and I met with him to go over the details, see examples, and discuss options. For the outside portraits, my Mom was very concerned that the pictures would be shadowy and wanted to see where they would be taken. Bryan scouted the location and sent us a snapshot. For the outside shoot he brought along lighting for fill and some seating so that the pictures were not just a straight line of people. The portrait shots were wonderful and just what my Mother wanted. In a short period of time we were able to get shots of the large family group, sub-groups of families, and individuals. For the indoors shoot Bryan had suggested that he bring a setup that arriving guests could stand in front for pictures. We decided against this and now my Mom wishes that we had followed his suggestion. The candid shots we got reflect the activity at the party, but looking back on it my Mom has voiced that she really prefers posed shots. We have a variety of shots including posed portraits, guests being greeting, guests talking, and pictures during the toasts. I had some standard corporate head shots done for my LinkedIn and company page this evening by Bryan. Upon arriving, I was greeted at the door and shown to the studio. Bryan was polite and accommodating (asked if I wanted coffee, water, etc). He asked if I had anything in mind as far as background color, poses, etc. I responded no because I had no idea other than that I just wanted a standard headshot. We did a variety of background colors and different lightings, poses, and angles. He definitely knew exactly what he was doing and at the end I narrowed the pictures down to a few and was able to select the ones I wanted. I was done in about 45 minutes and was very pleased with the experience! Bryan made it very painless for me which was great because I find it hard to pose for photos(especially solo) outside of a casual setting. Getting your pictures taken can be awkward and uncomfortable but Bryan made it easy and explained the adjustments we made and why they were made. Finding myself in a position to get a professional headshot done for work, I took to google to find out who was close by. After reading reviews and looking through photos on a couple of websites, I finally decided on Bazemore Studios.
