As I walked to my car, my mouth became parched so I walked in and saw a great number of refrigerator cases. After you pass the cashier area, you'll see a substantial freezer unit with a variety of ice cream bars and pints. It took me a while before I settled on this (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=rQkPgEC4bCSYltVjXUj_og). In heading out, I noticed the substantial chips and snack bags (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=w8lpu14g1uB6YAIG4eSncg) on my way out and grabbed a small bag for later. Besides what I mentioned, I noticed that there was a variety of tobacco products behind the counter. The store is sandwiched between a breakfast place and a corner bar so their variety of products make sense. There are a number of businesses across the street (framing and furniture, I believe) as well as restaurants scattered around the area. Normally, this store type would rate a four for me but I was happily surprised with my interaction with the cashier who was very laid back and cordial. After wishing him a nice weekend, he surprisingly replied with enthusiasm, "You too!". When I'm able to leave a business with a smile and a warm heart, the fifth star is earned in my book.

When…read moreI lived nearby, my apartment was more or less equidistant between this place and Mike's Liquors & Groceries on Mission Street, and although Mike's was a way bigger scene and generally rowdier, I much preferred it over Ed & Danny's, because this place sucks. THE GOOD It's clean. Remarkably clean for what it is, where it is, and how large it is. I believe this space used to be the building's garage, so it extends way way back from the front entrance, which could be an issue in the case of a robbery. THE BAD Where to start? They have the weirdest sizes of sodas. Almost no diet anything, or if they have it, it's tiny. I came in here at least twelve times. I don't think they ever once had a two-liter Diet Pepsi. Everything is pretty expensive. Yes, it's a corner store, so things are going to be more expensive, but when you combine high prices with poor selection and horrible customer service, what's the point? As I said, I came in here at least twelve times, probably more. I came mostly when I first moved to the Mission in the middle of 2023, but I also came sporadically after that, mainly when I was walking back from parking my car east of South Van Ness. I came mostly in the afternoon, but I was here at night on a few occasions as well. Every single time I came here, the cashier was on his Bluetooth earpiece talking to someone on the phone from the moment I walked into the store to when I was paying and as I was leaving. That is, he never once said a word to me or even acknowledged me by nodding or smiling or making any kind of hand gestures. Nope, he just grabbed my stuff and rang it up as he continued his mostly angry (?) conversations with whomever for literally every second of time I spent in this place over two years. This was also the site of a robbery in which someone either drove their car through the security gate or tried to rip the security gate off by attaching it to their car. And that same night, someone was murdered a block away. At the time, police believed the corner-store robbery and murder a block away were related. I only came in here a couple of times after that, and when I was way in back, I always thought about whether I should try to run out or hide in the back in case of a robbery. So yeah, it's a totally shady place. And the dude is rude. Who talks on the phone that long? Who would want to talk to this guy?

Wait, but it's not cold....do they have cold ones?! yes, just for you! Hmmm...feel like drinking Ciroc? Well, guess what this dude and the rest of his family will give it to ya 2 for $40. HAHA, will always pull a deal on ya. But if you think about it and you're a frequent drinker or love to party like myself (especially since it's summer time) mind as well pop 2 bottles! If you don't want the deal on the Ciroc, I'm sure they will give you great deals and service just as they had done with me. =) Great people that work here, I just HATE the pervs (as in probably some already dunzo people) that are in on the weekend nights.

But I easily drove to it on the way out, kind of an odd location by the highway, but reverse from the exit. I walked in and there were some neighborhood friends talking to the owners of the place in some language I couldn't quite make out. I immediately just asked about the drink and one of the guys knew it right away. I bought two 4-packs, and I believe they had one more that night but didn't want anymore at that time. I believe it was like $8 per 4-pack. I'm glad I was able to get it not too far off from where I was from, hehe. The guys running this place are good people, I wonder what country they are from...!
