Had great service. My husband was also under RDE and trusted them and said he was impressed. He was waiting for a angiogram. But It turned out he needed a quadruple bypass and soon. They kept writing to us and asking us shall we take you off the list it's only for a stent at the worst and it's not really necessary. Luckily we stuck it out and said no we want the angiogram and stent if needed as my mother in law died of heart problems. After RDE realising it was much more serious after doing the angiogram, they referred us to Plymouth and who were amazing and said my husbands treatment was not acceptable, he could have died while waiting and was waiting 102 weeks for an angiogram Plymouth had him in within three weeks and at the stage of his bypass they were still waiting for paperwork and health history from RDE so we told them everything they needed to know and they had no idea my mother in law had died from heart problems and heart problems are in the family. The RDE hadn't told them. This is totally unacceptable, they are playing with peoples lives. Even after complaining we haven't heard anything from them whatsoever.

Car parks bit pricey, need to take plenty of change with you if you want to park on site. Operates a park and ride service (current cost about £1) with buses running every 12 minutes or so from a secure car park, from 7am to about 9.45pm Monday - Friday. Covers all medical areas (except for Psychological) Very good website with information on all wards. Gives information for patients going into the Hospital. Gives recruitment information including listing all available vacancies. Gives information on contact details. Smoke free site - no smoking permitted anywhere including the car park and grounds.

The staff can vary alot, I have been on wards that were great and wards where the care was a bit lacking. The outpatient clinics are generally well run. Parking can be a nightmare and take plenty of change because it is pay and display.

He held my xrays the wrong way and filled a bottom molar clumsily that I had no issues with and sent me off with a bulky filling that fused my 2 teeth together. Many dentists have described it as heavy handed dentistry and tried half unsuccessfully to separate it since. The pressure pain I suffered on this tooth recently has made me finally give in and beg to have it pulled. After my 2nd visit to this cowboy, I was left a nervous wreck and the next dentist said that the bruising to my face was excessive and not what he would expect. My Mother also had issues and had to contest the bill that they tried to pursue even though she had to spend more money getting her teeth corrected after his work. I went to this pompous man because an ex friend of mine was his dental nurse at the time. He was all charm and false niceness until things went wrong and then, I couldn't have been treated more rudely. I have been left.with fear of all dentists since setting foot in his surgery.

Also up-to-date with the latest techniques and aware of the importance of the health of the whole mouth rather than just the teeth. I've been a patient of Mr Whately's for about 30 years and although I have seen other dentists now and then (when living outside the area) I have never been happy with anyone else. No NHS patients and the fees are reasonably expensive but well worth it (in my opinion). He is the only dentist in the practise so the waiting room is always quiet (you rarely meet another patient) and calm and the reception staff are happy to mind the children during routine appointments. Limited street parking. Car parks nearby.
