This is a relatively new local butcher at the Goldfields Shopping Center. While a previous…read morebutchers was at this shopping center, competition from the nearby IGA has meant they haven't thrived. Shane and his small team have done a great job here by providing good quality meat and products at a reasonable price. They stock Otway free range pork which is great tasting pork as well as preparing a wide range of pre-prepared and marinated meats like chicken and lamb - just stick them in the oven. The spatchcocked and marinated free range chickens are suberb and come in several different flavours. They take 45mins in a 180 oven and are just delicious. Shane also does his own smoking and they have a number of smoked products including their own bacon (which is just a bit sweet for my taste) and kabanas. they also do whole hams at Xmas which are bloody tasty. Shane and crew believe in customer service. Always happy, pleasant, and willing to share a bit of banter, if they don't have anything ready at the front, they are willing to prepare it for you then and there. It's a small point, but personally I would prefer if they provided a bit more information about their meats, where it comes from and what is was fed on. I'd prefer to eat grass-fed meat for taste and health reasons and I'm not always sure or forget to ask. Well done guys, beats shopping for meat at the IGA every time.
