The worst. No communication. Healthcare providers will not respond to calls or portal. Medication refills? Oh no, that does not happen. They are rude, on the phones. They really do not care if you are feeling unwell, they gave protocol. Apparently that is to leave patients hanging, not provide support or care. Don't go to this practice if you would like to be considered a part of your own healthcare team. Just don't go. There is a 72 hour protocol for prescription refills..... however! That is from when the provider received the request, not when it was sent. So it may be weeks before it's done,if then. With no communication, so you won't know if it actually gets done. read more

Baystate Wing Hospital, 40 Wright Street, Palmer, Massachusetts, PRIMARY CARE, the WORST I have ever experienced in more than 60 years of having medical care which up until now I've had very little to nothing to complain about. Requests for referrals to a specialist of my choice, COMPLETELY IGNORED. First time in my life this has happened to me. Being treated like a THIRD CLASS CITIZEN is disgusting to say the least. The quality of medical care has greatly declined and continues to sink lower as time goes on. It's all about the money and to hell with the patient. Apparently, nothing improves with time. There is another review on Yelp that I wrote a couple of years ago regarding PRIMARY CARE Dept. and nurse practitioner at Baystate Wing, Palmer, MA and my requests for referrals going unanswered. How these people can live with themselves is beyond me. This Hospital should be closed immediately and permanently. My elderly mother was admitted there for possible sepsis, lost her IV access and she has just been laying there, having seizures, writhing in pain, and unable to get her IV abx for the infection, I will be making a call to the MA Division of Healthcare Quality first thing Monday morning. I just felt compelled to warn folks, this is like care that you would expect in a third world country - shameful, concerning and extremely sad. read more

I'm a patient of Connie Leung NP. whenever you call there it takes 2 or more days if someone gets back to you, but my last visit I was unable to stand, would have a wave of extreme exhaustion & weakness mostly my legs. I had just received a shot in back for my back injury a week prior. The only thing done for me that day was give me a prescription for diabetics. supposedly I have fibromyalgia & that supposedly helps, but no I was sick on it. i even told them when the exhaustion feeling happens my hearts beats hard & fast & I am out of breath, just by standing. No test were run. yeah, let's just say it's fibromyalgia, even though nothing has even been tested for to be ruled out. i personally feel the care there is awful & they love to hand out meds rather than find the cause. so here I am suffering in pain, suffering mentally because I have no quality of life nor do I find relief from the pain. in search for new Primary Care. read more

the Palmer wing is an awful place to bring anyone! 2 different experiences. 1- I was having a DKA. I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours. I was v and passing out and i sat in the waiting area for 3 hours. my husband and my father called an ambulance and told the front desk that I was going to a diff hospital. all of a sudden they had a bed open. they had me going to the bathroom by myself and I was not sturdy. I could go on about it but I won't it was a very bad experience 2- my father has a kidney stone. to large to pass and he needs surgery. they told him this wed night. by Friday night he was still in the hallway bed with nothing. they never even offered him a blanket or gave him any update on what's going on. all they did was pump him with morphine. it made him sick and they never gave him anything for the nausea. multiple nurses were very rude. They have NO empathy. allso baystate has charged my ins for things I never got done. I work with ins and I bought it. i called them out on it and I was reimbursed. It's difficult, to recall everyone's name, simply because there are SO MANY excellent people working at Wing! From the moment I walked into the ER for a recent visit, until my second floor discharge, I could not have received better care. Just to name a few:. Betsy and Erin in the ER; Erika (simply, THE VERY BEST...) and so very many more, on the second floor; all of the lab, radiology and dietary folks, along with the nurse's aides...are EXCELLENCE, personified! Bay State is fortunate ( and, so are WE) to have good people like these and the top brass could do A LOT better, at recognizing that fact! Thank you - ALL - for being the best! read more

I was there with my mom who has Alzheimer's in ER was there for several hours the nurses were very nice but as I sitting there waiting for ambulance to get my mom to bring her to her memory care the nurse mentioned they arrived but didn't come in yet so after I witnessed several people coming in and out of emergency doorway and there are no signs I figured it was ok to go out and check ...this women comes after me and asked me what I was doing in snarky manner I explained and in a awful tone she's like u cant b here like I was a child u gonna have to walk around the building and reenter (my punishment) I explained that my mom with Alzheimer's was 10 Feet away and I was not walking around building. she was an ass and said walk around then I called her an asshole because she was she could of respectfully said walk back in with me just cant use this door ok np no she was confrontational...then I couldn't help telling her she was an asshole(not normally my behavior at all)and she threatened me with security.then everyone was telling me to calm down sit down who has the right to tell me to sit!...im explaining in a swearing meltdown now and security guard says no swearing in emergency room couldn't help by saying yeah right!...im sorry but that was so wrong on many levels i lost my shit but that woman again was an confrontaional asshole with no compassion!!! there was no need for her over the top attitude read more

I had a ruptured ovarian cyst two weeks ago and I was in the worst pain I've ever experienced. I checked in at the front desk sobbing, and they immediately got me into triage. I found the triage process was quick, and within ten minutes of my arrival, I had blood drawn and was provided with IV fluids and morphine. Dr. Sill listened to my concerns, was respectful, and had an excellent bedside manner. The nurses were attentive and checked on me frequently. I was getting an ultrasound within 30 minutes of my arrival and had a conclusive diagnosis within one hour. Hopefully, I won't need to go back in the future! However, if an emergency occurs in the future, I will definitely head to Baystate Wing. read more

I am ashamed and embarrassed to have gone to this ER. Very quick and efficient about getting your billing information. Very reluctant to provide a level of care that is compassionate. On 03/23/2023 I had waited for 5 hours due to chest pain, pain down my right arm, tingling in that arm and in both of my feet, along with shortness of breath. They did tests, though I am not in the medical field, so I did not understand anything I was told in regards to the medical language being used. Eventually, while having a panic attack, curled up in the fetal position, and in a lot of pain... a nurse came to me and literally said "Hey! You! I heard you're having panic attack. Well, you're not having a heart attack, and we're busy, that's why you have to wait." Really. This was a Nurse. So I just walked out, because obviously... Palmer Wing simply does not care. I was merely a burden, and all they cared about being able to bill my insurance. I feel guilty just for having taken up their time. read more

today on March 19 my daughter and I went to the ER never been so disappointed with the staff. As we were awaiting to go in a nurse came from another floor and continue to bring in a family member in front of all of us for them to be seen when they were last in the er . Was told that I couldn't go in with my daughter, and that somebody would come out. Waited over 3 1/2 hours without being called when I asked what was going on with my daughter they told me she would be out soon. 45 minutes later my daughter came out very upset with no answers. We proceeded to leave when we had to turn around halfway home, because we received no doctors note as we were told she would have one. read more

Horrible took my son there and they gave him a new last name so he was diagnosed with an ear infection, but we weren't able to get his medication from CVS pharmacy because they put the wrong last name for my child so then I had to still take him to the pediatrician went there today because since Friday my ear drum feels like it's about to burst and the PA stated I was fine because there was no fever but yet in crazy amounts of pain in my ear !!!!! Told me it's pressure but from what !!! Sometimes some people do not get high rate fever !!! SMH hands down horrible hospital and there staff are rude !! read more

Horrible HORRIBLE care. Went to the ED because my daughter couldn't stop vomiting. It's not about urgency there. They splinted fingers and took in people who were well enough to be on their cell phones and simply told us to "wait our turn". Then as she was violently vomiting into a trash can and falling to the floor, they called security like we were intentionally making a scene. The lab tech then tried to manhandle her up into a chair while she was vomiting all while reprimanding her for being on the floor. My daughter was begging for help and for something to stop the vomiting and we were surrounded by security while I said we would just go to another ED if they couldn't help. They didn't want to help until it was "her turn" but they also didn't want us to leave. We went there thinking it would be better and faster care being a small town ED. Wrong choice. Next time we will make the drive to UMass Worcester where they actually triage and treat according to severity. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! Do not go here. DO NOT GO HERE. DO. NOT. GO. HERE!!!!! We have been waiting over 7 hours for a COVID test.. a nose swab. Had to retake our vitals twice, although we were just sitting in our car waiting for a call, after we had checked in at 7:30pm. Finally got the TEST call. Now have been waiting in the room for over an hour. I pulled a whole shift. It's past 4am. Also the front desk lady was terribly rude. It's a city area, plenty of other hospitals, do not waste your time. Seeing the staff pace around and talk nonsense, laughing and discussing other patients is just as frustrating as well. They do not feel welcoming in the slightest. Take my advice. DO NOT GO HERE. ALSO WAS TOLD IT WAS RAPID TESTING, now have to wait 24 hours to a week. They ARE TRASH!!! LIVID!! I'm really pleased with the hospital on how they treated my mom my mom been here for several times all the nurses and Doctors are awesome always treats their patients good some of nurses need to smile more but they're doing Great They need to be more educated on Dealing with Deaf patients by Getting a ASL interpreter more often and not being very awkward about communicating with Deaf patients Otherwise I give this Hospital A plus The foods are okay needs improvement The cafeteria has limited menus definitely needs big changes. I am so fed up with Baystate. Ever since they took over Wing I have had 4 Primary Dr's. one of them left as soon as Baystate took over, one was new to the area and was thrilled to be living in Western Ma. but left after about a year, one left to start his own practice, and the latest is retiring. My surgeon informed me that if my breast cancer came back that he wouldn't be allowed to operate, that I would have to go to Springfield where I don't know anyone. They have few choices for Primary care and most are NP's or PA's. I was recently informed that they don't have an ENT doctor at Wing or Springfield! I blame Baystate for most of this and have to wonder what the Heck is going on. I have no problem with the doctors or the nurses but I am planning on finding care somewhere else. I want a doctor that will be around long enough to build a rapport with before they are driven out. Get it together Baystate! read more

Had an appointment at 1:00 pm. After 1:50 I asked for an ETA. They never bothered to tell the tech I was even there. So, I spent almost an hour sitting in a hard chair with a broken hip. The workers could see me and kept bringing in patients that had arrived after me. I had to get up with a walker and go to the window to get them to do their job. Thanks alot Karen ( her real name). I tested positive for Covid and went to the er. within a half hour I was admitted I had to spend the nite in the er but I was placed in a private room. the staff was very professional and caring. the next day I was moved upstairs to a private room. the nursing staff was very good and gave me five star treatment. they would check in with me a couple times an hour to see if I needed anything the doctors were excellent too they took the time to explain everything they were doing in detail. I have to say that their professional attitude compassion and empathy helped me to recover very quickly. I would recommend this hospital read more

As a healthcare professional I would NEVER recommend anyone to go to Baystate ER. My 9 year old daughter was seen 9/16 in the ER with a radius fracture. I was told it would be a long wait, and to take a seat. While my daughter is screaming in pain I go over to ask if I can speak to a nurse about getting pain meds, and how long it would be until we're seen. As I know they all can hear her screaming. I than was told with an attitude that just like everyone else I would need to wait my turn. I'm not saying to disregard everyone else, but when she was seen in X-ray I was told wow they need to bring her back ASAP, and when you hear a child in the much pain, or see her arm than I think you would assist in anyway. But no I was told I would need to wait, while I myself gave my child pain meds because I was ignored. Being an hour away from home, and waiting nearly an hour and 45mins I had it at this point. Hearing the rude comments from the employees, and the lack of care I felt as tho we were receiving I told them I would be transferring her closer to home, because it was a complete joke. I than was told oh wait we have a room ready. While other kind patients in the ER with their sick loved ones tried to speak up and say hey she can take my place, or how long do we think she's in pain. Again the staff were rude even stating we don't need your help we know sit down. While we got in the back the Nurses, and MD we're good up until I was able to see her X-rays Monday morning. Now I'm no MD but the way they went about realigning her arm, only made things 10x worse. We were than sent home in a splint, and ace wrap and was told to follow up with Ortho. I would NEVER recommend anyone to come here, I'm ashamed to be apart of healthcare if this is what you call quality care or any type of care. I know being in the field is hard, but it does not cost a dime to be kind, and if you can't show compassion than sorry this is not the field for you. Went in for surgery June 2018 and received EXCELLENT care. My first time at Wing and I found ample parking, although there was a lot of construction still going on for the ED expansion. I found the Surgery entrance with ease and the check-in process quick. The entire surgical team was professional and compassionate. My nurses were awesome. If I ever need to go back for surgery, I would not hesitate to return to Wing. I've never had an emergency so I cannot comment on the ED. read more

Baystate Wing Hospital: When your insurance provider tells us that we need to bill it correctly in order to get it paid, we'll just bill it to YOU instead! Horrible experience - my insurance provider has told them numerous times how to bill for services correctly so that they will be paid for, but instead, Baystate Wing billing prefers to bill me and just hope that I'll pay. I WAS receiving physical therapy here for migraines, however, when the billing department started causing me more migraines than physical therapy was relieving, I stopped using their services. My advice: Find a small place that takes your insurance and will bill correctly instead of a giant place that doesn't give a shit. read more

AWFUL experience with the emergency department. My 20 month old needed stitches and we had to wait over 4 hours to be seen. Could have been referred to Baystate Children's Hospital upon arrival (where we ended up anyway, but after an almost 12 hour delay) where we would have been seen much quicker. Wing should be ashamed. Absolutely a crap show. Brought my wife there after she tested positive for Covid and started having trouble breathing, congestion, heavy feeling in chest. Nurses took her in for triage and told us to wait in our car and they would call us when a room became available. Two hours later and two phone calls to them and a visit to receptionist and we got " they know your here, we're busy tonight sorry" That's how they treat a Covid patient. Horrible horrible. The worst Er I have EVER BEEN TO! I've had food stuck in my throat since Friday it is now Tuesday and still nothing can't swallow food liquids or even my own saliva. Went there Saturday got dicked around for 8 hours just for them to tell me I needed to be transferred.to Baystate.. Didn't have a ride home from Springfield so I went home.. Suffered until Monday morning CALLED WING TO MAKE SURE THEY HAD A GI DOCTOR THERE TO DO THE procedure bc it's hard to find a ride home from Springfield.. Say there for another 6 hours to be told that there were no gi doctors available again read more

So I went to the wing E.R a few nights ago because of unusual pains in my head, I always try to refrain from going to the hospital because I absolutely hate it but decided I should go just to be safe. When I arrived there was no one in the waiting room(now I know why). The nurse that called me in looked like she couldn't give a shit less about anything. So I tried talking to her and she was very snobby, rolled her eyes when I told her what had happened. She had asked me if I had head pain at the moment and I said NO. My blood pressure was extremely high also, anyways so I got put into a room... Btw there was hardly anyone in the other rooms so I was thinking this will be quick. I put a gown on and a while later she put and iv in after sticking me a few times, took some blood and left the room. When the doctor came in he seemed really nice, asked questions about my head pain. Same thing I told the nurse I DO NOT have head pain right now..I was just there to check everything out(asked for a CT scan). Before he left he said he had some medicine that would help the pain because I told him ibuprofen was giving me stomach pains so I stopped taking it. So here I am thinking he's going to prescribe some pain med for my head, next thing I know the snotty nurse walks in with a bag, hooks it to my iv without saying a word and I'm freaking the hell out!! I said "what is that"?? "What are you doing"??!! She told me what it was and walked away. Didn't bother to explain what it was for, nothing at all. So I'm beyond pissed at the point, I start feeling this shit seeping into my veins and feel higher then a kite. The worst feeling I have ever felt,i was completely terrified! It made me feel really drowsy but at the same time I couldn't sit still. I kept sitting down and standing up and everything was spinning. When the doctor came in I asked him why the hell he gave me this shit? He told me for my head....did I not tell you and the nurse I WAS NOT having pains, I didn't want/need meds.....you didn't even ask me if I wanted them and you didn't ask me any medical history or current health problems I had to see how I might react to the medicine! It was just unreal. So then he said to me and I can't believe this, " it must have been a mis-communication"...WHAT! You can't go around drugging people up and then be like oops! So I told him to take the iv out because I was out of there, he became very rude at this point and told me I must stay and that he could give me benadryl to level out the other med. I told him no way. There was no way I was about to fall asleep there! Plus I had to drive myself home. So he told me to relax for a little while. Well I couldn't relax I was pacing back and forth for a while and a lady came to get me for the CT scan, finally! Got that done and after that started to feel a tiny bit less drugged, waited for the results the doctor said everything looked normal (but who even knows if he is qualified to figure that out). Got the iv taken out, thank God because my whole left side was going numb, signed some papers and went home!!! Got some much needed rest but when I woke up I had felt the same way that I did at the hospital. So now I'm getting worried. I went and Google d the med to see what it was. As far as I could see it wasn't used mainly for what he gave it to me for. The things that it said DO NOT take if you are blah blah blah, yea I had at least 3 of those, one being high blood pressure. It also has long term effects which I'm hoping I don't have. It's been a few days now and I feel alot better but not quite back to normal. I've been having panic attacks when I try to go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning. I haven't had a panic attack in years before this. Needless to say, please do not go to wing, at least not to the E.R, there are better hospitals around the area. read more

This is the worse emergency room ever. I had blood coming from my ear and it took 2 and 1/2 hours too be seen. No more are the days with the cute little girl commercial saying you will save time going here. You won't. I grew up in this town since when is a security guard needed. It is a joke. Worst. Experience. Ever. There was one male nurse that was wonderful and kind and caring. Other than him, everyone else was rude, uncompassionate, even snarky! There were 8 people in the waiting room when we got there. (We were at Baystate before that and left after 2 hours given there were no less than 60 people waiting) It took 5 1/2 hours to be seen, 25 minutes to get a blanket, and her vitals were only ever taken in Triage! I said "Are you kidding me?!?" to the desk girl when told after 5 hours there was still 1 person ahead of her and security came stumbling over to make sure I didn't need to be escorted out! Then they confronted my daughter in the parking lot trying to get a little air and told her she needed to go back inside! It's now 9 hours since we've been here....at least they finally gave her fluids and meds to stop the nausea and meds for the pain. They did do bloodwork as well 15 minutes ago. We will see how it turns out but so far, I'll NEVER come back! read more
