Ensure to bring cash with you--it is a farm afterall! First 20 kids get feed for the animals and additional feed you can get for $2. We fed some goats and sheep, and some some cute little chicklets. They have a cuddling hour with chicklets at 11 however we have lunch and nap conflicts with that . After we went into the beautiful sunflower maze, walked around, took some wonderful pictures (there are curated spots for pictures), and picked up a few sunflowers! My toddler left quite pleased with themselves. Overall a wonderful experience with a wonderful family. Lots to do and great atmosphere. It takes about 2 hours to explore the grounds starting with the entrance from the Region of Waterloo Museum which is connected to the Doon Heritage Village on Huron Road. Staff are wonderful at answering questions and showing how the old tools and equipment were used back then. Some of the old tools are just rock solid and will last forever. Wood was the primary construction materials used for building. This explains why fire insurance was a fast growing business. Insurance companies in the Region thrived and made the economy grow in that sector for years to come. The Martin House is beautifully decorated inside and out. The family was of Old Order Mennonite religion. There were very conservative colour schemes used, and no mirrors were allowed in the home! The Old Post Office is connected to a custom tailor service in the same building. Our hostess explained how the one man operation (tailor and postmaster) was in charge of both businesses. Suits were made to order and were outfitted with ties and cuff links. It was a profitable venture until the Eaton's catalogue business became more popular. The Dry Goods Grocery Store is "stocked" with canned goods and non-perishables such as soap and laundry detergent. Brand names included McCormicks and Heinz. Homes were equipped with a cast iron stove that kept the premises warmer in the winter months. Check out the feet of the stoves which were designed like ones you would find on vintage pianos. Very enjoyable afternoon spent and we learned a lot about early life and hard work of the German community and how it all started in Kitchener (then known as Berlin).

Costume interpreters greet visitors in the historic buildings. Special events and activities throughout the village's May 1 to December 23 season. Doon Heritage Village is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 1 to Labour Day. Hours vary from Labour Day to Dec. 23 - check the museum's website for public hours in the fall. The village is closed from December 24 to April 30.

Crooked Creek's milk is hormone/steroid-free and the cows are fed vegetarian feed with non-GMO corn and hay. Crooked Creek is a must-visit on any farm tour of northern Macomb County. Calves welcome you in their pens as you enter the farm. Besides being able to feed the cows and goats, the store offers delicious ice cream, Crooked Creek milk, fudge, chocolate bars, and other locally made foodstuffs.

Therefore 1st Add to assist other Yelpers or Shoppers! What a pleasant experience chatting with the staff and walking around the plentiful areas of fruits and vegetables and other items they sell locally. I had a great visit on Tuesday the 29th of July to shop for Corn and Pickling Cukes to make Garlic & Dill Pickles. I talked to Cheryl and Tonya working throughout the market inside the barn area with produce such as fruits and vegetables that have been harvested in June and July and will continue till ?? based on selling. I Look forward to shopping here in the Fall months for pumpkins and much more to buy and eat plus items to decorate My Home In Macomb. They have giant bouncing areas/pillows, a small animal farm for kids to enjoy (emus, goats, pigs, rabbits, birds) along with tons of little rides that kids can enjoy. A couple of really enjoyable slides for the kids and a go kart (pedal bikes really) track. The bathrooms are super clean and way beyond what I expected - automatic sinks, no touch entry and saw that staff was cleaning them regularly. Moreover, staff was on top of cleaning all the rides every few minutes! This was fantastic to see and reassuring. There's a nice little market/giftshop where you can buy fresh pies, jams, etc. Pizza and other basic food also available for the kids if you want to grab a quick lunch for the little ones. All in all, a fantastic activity for the kid and highly recommend it!
