Every time I called or reached out for updates or context, I was reassured. They delivered on what they promised: respecting my budget, getting everything I needed taken care of, and making sure I was updated throughout the whole process. Needless to say, the service has been awesome. This shop's a diamond in the rough and I'll be recommending them to friends and family in the area. Good teams are difficult to find.

2/2 (This is Part 2 of a two-part review. Part 1 is directly below)…read more So I decide to go back to the mechanic on New Utrecht that I was previously using. Three weeks earlier I had a new alternator put in and a few months prior to that I had a new muffler installed. So my car was on the lift, they saw this issue, they had to know, and the question is - why was I not informed of this? What they told me quite simply was 'Bobby, you said you don't use the car much (which I don't) and that you were thinking of getting rid of it soon, which I was, though nothing was definite. Plus, the car was very dangerous to drive. How they did not think to let me know that this was something I should know and be aware of, is truly unbelievable. As a matter of fact, one other mechanic that I had visited after speaking with Tim told me that he would not drive the car under any circumstances as well. Tim saved me from something that could have been quite devastating and I am very thankful to him for that. I have since recommended several friends and family members to TK and all have had nothing but nice things to say and were all very satisfied, pleased and thanked me. This is a one hundred percent honest review. Interpret it as you will. I just find it very hard to believe some of the negative reviews here. Are some legit, a few, perhaps. But some of the other reviews, I just don't believe them, not for one minute. When I purchase something on Amazon, if there are 100 reviews, with 90 positive (5 Star) reviews and 10 negative, I'm going with the 90, for many reasons. Unfortunately, you can't please everyone. And something else that I noticed, Tim takes the time to reply to all reviews, both good and bad. This is something that not only a good business(man) would do, but it's something that someone 'who cares', does. I haven't come across many auto body shops that do reply to reviews, most don't. And many other companies don't take the time to respond as well, and they should. For the folks who are still reading and were able to power through this two-part review, I would like to take a moment and mention the following that most folks are aware of, though some unfortunately are not. You simply can't call up an auto mechanic and request an estimate or expect a detailed, exact answer to a question over the phone. At least 90% of the time, you can't. It's not like you're calling a salon to schedule a haircut, or requesting a price to get your nails done. It's not like calling a restaurant to place an order. It's not like calling a store to ask if they have something in stock. You need to bring your car there. They need to see it. It may need to be there one or two days, many places are busy, perhaps there are others before you or they may need to order a part. To those that are not aware of this, this is basic common sense. In closing, all I can say for myself and for others that I know who have visited TK, is that they are exceptional. They are Honest. Trustworthy. Professional. Caring and Kind. Visit TK, meet and speak with Tim. If possible ask for a quote, though many times that's not possible right then and there, without them having to look at the car, take it for a test drive or put it on the lift. Once you do have a quote or estimate, go somewhere else, get a second opinion, then you decide where and what feels right, best for you and your car. As for me, I'm good, very good with Tim and TK Auto Repair!

The horn on my car stopped working the other day, so I brought it here based off the good reviews…read moreon Yelp, and I'm glad that I did. Within a couple of minutes, the horn was working, but they explained to me that a new one was still needed as there was an internal problem with the component and so, although it was currently working, it would most likely stop working again soon. They made some phone calls to see if they could get the part, but they couldn't. They advised me to get the part from Ford and bring it to them so they could instal it. Best of all, they didn't charge me anything for getting it to work. I know that's a small thing because, realistically, they really didn't do much, but it's that kind of honesty and integrity that I appreciate. For that reason I'll definitely be coming back in the future.

The main reason they earned their 5 star review? They turn down work. Other places could easily lie…read moreand find work that needs to be done. Ex: Go in for an oil change and you'll need a new timing belt or a different fluid change. Here, they only do what you ask for. They will turn down work if they don't think it's necessary. I went in for an oil change and my dealer told me that my brakes are due for a change. Went to Nick's and asked for the oil change and new brakes. The mechanic (I believe it's Ming) told me that they still had another half year to a year left on them considering that this is my daily driver. He told me just check it again next time I'm in for an oil change. Most recently, I went in for an oil change and had him check my brake fluid because it was within the timeframe of replacement. Ming turned down the work again because the brake fluid was still clean. If you know what you need, this is exactly the place to go for honest work.
