This is my favorite market for best quality organic (eco) products ranging from grocery to…read moredrugstore to bakery items (equivalent of Whole Foods in the States) Location is great because it's close to main train station, tram stops, and water tower. There are plenty of bicycle parking places nearby as well. Selection of fruits and vegetables is decent, but it can be slim pickings on Saturday. There are various freshly baked breads available in bakery section: they will argue with you if the bread is warm and you want it sliced. The refrigerator section contains good variety of vegan products: plant based milk, yogurt, tofu, plant based spreads, and "meats". Great selection of whole grains: oats, couscous, bulgar wheat, barley, etc. Drugstore products have selection of paraben free shampoos, conditioner, body washes, deodorant, creams, etc... Basically, their grocery store is more expensive, but quality of food is superb. They take all major credit cards and seem to be open daily (Saturday for sure) until 20:00.

Small but high-quality selection of organic foods! Pricier than Rewe or Aldi, of course, but…read moresometimes you can find things here you can't find anywhere else in the city. I only docked two stars for my experience while checking out here. Staff can come across as a bit snooty, and when I was last there, I was rushing to bag my own groceries, and a glass bottle of apple cider vinegar slipped out of my bag and crashed on the floor while I had my back turned. The cashier, who was clearly ending her shift right after she tended to me, simply handed me a bunch of paper towels and a broom with a dust pan, and then let her replacement continue checking people out. I know there's a joke about the difference between customer service in Germany vs. the US, but this seemed a little absurd. I'm a grown woman and can certainly clean up after myself, but this was shattered GLASS and a liquid that was going everywhere. What if I had cut myself? What if another customer had slipped? These would be liability issues in the US--no store would ever expect the customer to clean up something like this, and in the end I felt compelled to point out to the next cashier some places where I simply couldn't clean the floor adequately enough, because I was concerned for other customers with the glass and liquid. It also wasn't explained to me whether or not I could replace the bottle or not, so I left having paid for (and cleaned up) a bottle of pricy ACV I never got to use. So, good selection, and I'll continue to go from time to time, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
