I am a student in Tübingen and I made an Internet contract with Unitymedia. Below is my story…read more First of all, when I signed up for their services, there was an offer - if you are under 25 and you are a new customer, you get 2 x 50 euro shopping vouchers (that could be spend on Amazon and several other platforms). The vouchers never arrived, even though I made a couple of trips to the Unitimedia shop to remind them. Second, at some point the Internet was really bad or even non-existent in the evenings. I went to the shop to tell them that I have problems with the Internet and they told me that they are just a shop and the quality of the Internet is not their issue. I was given a business card with the customer service's email. I sent an email reporting the issue and I got a phone call after two weeks - I was told to restart the router (who would have thought!). I told them I tried it and it didn't work and their response was to contact them again! What does that even mean!? Their customer services in both the shop and the company were just inadequate. Third (and this is still ongoing), Unitymedia offers only lifelong contracts. I know it says on the contract that it can be cancelled if they are notified 3 months in advance, but in reality the contract cannot be cancelled ever! I wanted to cancel my contract because I got a student accommodation and I was moving out of the old place to a new place which had Internet. I went to the shop and notified them 3 months in advance and they told me that to cancel the contract I needed a document (proof of address) - this document can be obtained from the municipality but only after moving to the new place. This document says what my current address is. At that point I realised that the 3 month notice is a lie - in the best scenario one stops paying 3 months after they moved to the new place (even 4 because it takes them around 3 weeks to respond to an email). It does not end here! Three weeks after providing the document, I received an email that unfortunately they cannot cancel my contract because I haven't provided an evidence that I have Internet and telephone at the new place. I could have been told that I needed such document. Either their company just does not function properly and their staff did not know I needed such document (and that's why they did not tell me) or they were making this on the spot and trying to steal as much money as they could. I went through the hassle again and brought the document to the shop hoping this mockery will finally end - they not only steal your money but also steal your time! Of course, almost a month later I got an email with my bill and no email confirming that the contract was cancelled - I went to the shop again and it turned out the staff did not send the last document (proof of Internet). At that point I want to say that the staff changed several times, I am not angry with the guy for his mistake because I understand that this company is as much dysfunctional for its customers as for its staff. I won't be surprised if the company does something backstage of which the staff is not aware, then the customers are pretty angry shouting at the staff and then the staff just quits. The guy sent the document almost three weeks ago and guess what - today I received an email with another the bill and no sign of contract cancellation confirmation! In addition to these three points, there were other small things like - the router arrived almost a month after the contract started (of course it took me another trip to the shop). My name was spelled wrong on the contract, they corrected it by misspelling it in another place (two different workers both copying it from my ID card). My advice - don't even consider using Unitymedia's services!
