The teachers and staff are so great with our kids, and it's evident that they truly care about them and have built real connections with them. And I love the fact that Creme encourages the entire staff to get to know each child at the center (not just the ones in the classrooms where they work most often). It makes the kids feel very comfortable at the school since they know everyone there, and it seems to make transitions from room to room easier as they get older. Something else I have noticed in comparison with other childcare centers we have attended is that the staff is very proactive about communicating with parents. I feel like they really try to engage with your family beyond just a hello at drop off and pick up. This has made a big difference to me personally. They are around my children for 8 hours out of the day several days a week, and I really appreciate feeling like I know what has happened while I'm away. When my youngest was an infant, it was really helpful for me to compare notes with the teachers on feedings, sleep habits, etc., to be sure that we were on the same page. I've never felt that they were too busy to discuss things with me at the beginning or end of the day. I have also been so impressed with how much our children learn at Creme. My 4-year old came home the other day very excited to tell me all about how gravity works, and he sings songs in Spanish on a regular basis. Our one year old is learning very good table manners and sign language. Also, the facility itself is very impressive. They have an on-site water park the kids get to use during the summer that our kids absolutely love. They also have a big gym to use when the weather is not good for playing outside. They even have a little koi pond with fish in it, and our youngest loves to say "Hi" to the fish on her way to her classroom. Finally, I feel confident in our children's safety at Creme. The school has a fingerprint system for entry, and an on-site resource officer at the end of the day. This is long-winded, but I really can't say enough good things about Creme. We love it there!

We have had wonderfully caring teachers over the years, and the director Ms. Diane does a wonderful job organizing fun activities for the students as well as keeping parents informed with newsletters.

It's been four years and time for an update. I'm so happy to share that my opinion of Parkwood has…read moreonly grown since I wrote that first review in 2022. We had a rocky start with our oldest daughter as being born during covid made for a harder transition to daycare. That being said, Parkwood worked with her and by the time she was into their preschool program she was thriving and had a strong community of kids and teachers at her disposal. By the time she "graduated" from pre-k last year we had met most of the staff and were really thrilled with everything about our experience from the extremely low turnover of staff, to the approachability of the program director, to the dedication of the founder who is still very much involved. Our daughter left Parkwood being able to write her name, read a few words, and even knowing some spanish and yoga. Nowadays, our 14 month old goes here and at this point it very much feels like we are part of a bigger community as we know many of the other families that also send their kids here, and we know the staff really well. Parkwood is now located in Overland Park at Indian Heights United Methodist Church and while it's been a while waiting on the new addition - they are working on a standalone building that will serve as their primary care center here, which I think will be wonderful once it's completed. I won't sugarcoat the price as it isn't cheap to send kids here, but it isn't the MOST expensive in town either. I find that Parkwood Day School does a good job of keeping costs as low as they can while also maintaining a safe, clean, and educational environment for all the kids that attend. All this to say, I feel really lucky to have found this school and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a good daycare/preschool to send their little ones to.

They support researched-based developmental learning for children 6 weeks to 6 years old and also have therapists (PT, OT, and speech) on site to conduct regular screenings to determine if your child needs additional developmental support/IEP. As a speech therapist myself, I was pleased to see therapy services are offered because they were not at several other places we toured. They just recently started using an app that logs your child's nap times, feeding times/amount, and potty. The thing my husband and I love is they upload pictures throughout the day and describe what activity your child is working on and what developmental skill it targets (fine motor, gross motor, eye-hand coordination, sitting core strength, language, etc). The staff is friendly, quick to respond, and our daughter is always happy upon drop-off and pick-up. Highly recommend Parkwood.

The best hidden gem in Early Childhood Education-- this is the only preschool I know of in this…read morearea that offers half day (4 hours) classes for 2 year olds , 2 days a week and that is NON-daycare based. The teacher and children ratio-- is unbeatable-- I think it's 2 teachers for 11 kids (or 12?) -- for 2 yo/3 yo!!! The teachers are so good and experienced (hardly any turnover) that having 2 of them in a classroom is a luxury for our children. Another phenomenon is that other teachers in the building know your child's name and so does the Director as well. If the teachers are the pulse of the school, then The Director is the heart. Director Shaw makes this school as child-centric as possible--they don't expect the young 2s to be potty trained. The wonderful thing is that when your child is in a class with other children who are already potty trained-- it really facilitates the child to go diaper free!! (Diaper-free 2 year old is a huge money saver!! ) They offer Gymboree in their curriculum. Another item of significance is that if it's inclement weather (ex.winters) there is huge spacious gymnasium for the children to play versus at other preschools the children stay cooped up in their classroom during recess. One hesitation I have for writing this review is wanting to keep this gem of a school hidden so there won't be a waiting list. But now my child will be in her last year this next school season, I am ready to share this gift of early childhood education with you. Your welcome.
