We arrived as soon as they opened, the girls behind the counter were very sweet and informative. They were very matter of fact type of energy so it might rub some people the wrong way. Reasonably priced. I wouldn't suggest that anyone under 12 try the upstairs portion. They do have a mirror maze though for all ages. They will ask you to wear plastic gloves though. I would say it could take between 30 minutes to an hour depending on how many people are there or how long you stay in one area. There is a photo op room first; they say it's two but really one large area where a worker (our girl was funny as heck) will help you take photos and offer suggestions. There are a few other rooms with different aspects that are super cool or interactive. I'd share exactly but wouldn't want to ruin the surprise. They also do a "scavenger hunt where you take a photo of the item and at the end get a surprise. It's just a small kids trinket (like a squishy). They could use some updates and fresh paint. Biggest suggestion is having a broom for the confetti. Picking them up with your hand was gross. It's definitely a one type thing but still fun. Overall enjoyed our experience.

We did have a 30 minute wait to do the Funhouse so we decided to do the maze first. The maze wasn't very long, honestly probably five minutes or less to go through it, so we basically went back and forth through the maze numerous times to pass the time. I would give the maze a 6/10; it was decently fun, but would've been better if there was just more to it and it was longer. *they take and hold purses/bags with them behind the counter while you're in the maze; you get your purse back before you go upstairs though* As for the Selfie/Funhouse, I definitely loved the concepts/themes in the different rooms and the trippy aspects in each room. I recall there were only 4 rooms and a few decorated/themed walk through halls. I would give it an 8/10; I thought it was pretty cool. Definitely felt like it could've used a few more rooms/interactive areas. For what they provided though, I would say it was a pretty decent experience. You definitely go through the entire thing in about 15-20 minutes, so just like the maze, not very long; really just in and out. After doing it once, I don't see myself going back again unless they were to add some new aspects to the place. My overall rate of experience : 7/10

Even outside, there is a lot to look at! The house has been amazingly preserved and restored. On Fridays you can stop by for a tour inside. The host was very informative and had lots of great knowledge about the house. She answered everyone's questions to the best of her abilities. The owners have done a miraculous service to the island by bringing this piece of history to life!

Made a quick stop to the quiet city of Onancock while in Chincoteague on vacation. We happened to…read morearrive when free tours were being given (Thurs-Sat 11am-3pm I think). The woman giving tours was finishing up with another group when we arrived and when they finished up she promptly started with my group. I cannot stress how cool the tour was. The woman who gave the tour was incredibly knowledgeable of the Ker family as well as other prominent eastern coast families. We loved that we could actually go in the rooms and touch and see parts of the house that, in other historic places, would be roped off. Not everything in the house was original, but they did a good job of placing furniture that would have been in the house in the appropriate rooms. If you opt out of the tour or can't get it, make sure to check out the mastodon tooth and vertebrae found on the grounds. They seem out of place amongst the 19th century relics, but man were they cool. Also make sure to check out the beautiful gardens to the back and side of the house. Overall a great experience if you love historic houses and if you find yourself in the area!

It really has the potential to fill a few days and we need to come back for one of their events. Once you find which building is the main entry (it's well marked) the docents take exceptional care of you. The visitors set up the video for us and some other visitors and I highly recommend taking the time to watch it to understand the menhaden industry and why the museum is here. Then we spent a LOT of time looking at the exhibits in the main building. Everything you could want to know about the local area and its fishing & maritime history. Lots of artifacts, models, dioramas, visual aides, etc. Afterwards we went outside and visited the ships that they have for their hands on education. I really want to come back and sail on the skipjack. Finally we ended at the train museum. That thing is spectacularly impressive. No idea why it is related to the mission of the museum but it definitely fills the "unique & interesting" bucket. Sadly it is only running when the right volunteers are around so hopefully it matches your exhibit. Someone(s) have spent a LOT of time & money on that & it is novel to take in.

What a real treat for the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown to host an exhibit on Outlander…read morecostumes. The exhibit mostly included costumes from Seasons 1-4, with a piece to from 5 and 6. Wow! The museum did a wonderful job presenting the exhibit--costumes, video clips from the showing the costumes being worn -- and lots of background information about how the designed planned and prepared them. This is a must-see exhibit for both Outlander fans and those who appreciate period clothing. The exhibit also includes a few pieces of clothing that are crested on sight for use by the living history interpreters at Yorktown.
