Barrack's Street park is a green space located between Trafford and Hulme and in the centre of a large number of council estates.
The vast majority of the park is a full size football pitch, used by a local mens team but usually available to play on. This pitch is well kept and not overused, which is very unusual for a council football pitch.
Apart from this there are a few nice trees and some surprisingly colorful little groups of flowers along a nice path. These will distract you as you pass through the park. There's definitely no reason to specifically visit this park unless its for the football. But its also a nice place to walk through if you're in the area anyway.
Interestingly, the site has its name because it once contained barracks that were home to a battalion of the 15th King's Hussars, a unit that gained fame for its rolein the Peterloo massacre of 1819. read more
