I've trusted Barnes Crossing Kia for years, and at this point, I honestly regret it. Their service department has put me in unsafe situations more than once, and this experience was the final straw. Years ago, when my car was under warranty, they "fixed" it and told me everything was fine. I didn't even make it 7 miles before my car completely shut down in front of Applebee's, on one of the busiest, most dangerous roads in Tupelo. Someone had to come in a personal vehicle just to drag my car back. And even THEN, I locked horns with the service manager because of the same dismissive, blame-shifting behavior. That should've been my sign to leave, but I kept giving them chances because I purchased my car from Kia and wanted to trust their service team. Fast forward to this week: I paid almost $800 for an oil pan reseal and oil filter housing gasket replacement. Less than 24 hours after THEY put the splash shield back on, it fell off. In six years of owning my car, this has NEVER happened until they touched it. Instead of accountability, I was met with disrespect and gaslighting. The service manager immediately tried to blame me and said: "It might've fallen off because you drove the car." Then she interrogated me about where and how far I drove, as if normal driving makes parts fall off. She repeatedly said: "I'm not dealing with your attitude." Not once did she acknowledge the obvious, that the part was NOT reinstalled correctly. When I asked for the general manager, he initially acted like he intended to fix the issue -- but that lasted maybe 30 seconds. Once the service manager started twisting the story, he joined right in. He raised his voice, threw his hand up toward me, and told me directly: "I don't have to do this, especially on a car with over 100,000 miles." Let me say this plainly: That comment should NEVER have come out of a manager's mouth. Dealerships gladly buy cars with 100,000 miles, clean them, and resell them for profit. But suddenly my mileage is the excuse to talk down to me? Make it make sense. The service manager then looked me dead in the face and said: "Oh, you think you're so smart, don't you?" I asked the general manager four separate times to make her stop insulting me. He never did. He never, not once, looked at his employee and said, "Stop. This is our customer." And magically, the tone changed the SECOND they realized I had recordings, the Saturday phone call AND the entire in-person interaction. Suddenly the truth was no longer "unclear." Then today, after emails were sent and I'm sure internal notifications were received, I get a call saying my part has "magically appeared." Interesting, because yesterday I was told it would take two days. The timing speaks for itself. Worst of all, I drove three full days without that splash shield. That part is on the car for a REASON, it protects the engine, wiring, and undercarriage. I pay a monthly note for a whole car, not one missing parts because of sloppy work. The ONLY person who acted professionally was the Saturday representative who immediately admitted her mistake and offered a genuine, heartfelt apology. Everyone else doubled down on disrespect until they realized everything was recorded. After dealing with this twice, YEARS apart, I've completely lost trust in this service department. Customers deserve honesty, safety, and respect. I received none of that here. Most of the 5 star ratings come from the employees. The service manager is even on here. This review isn't meant to cause harm. It's meant to tell the truth, protect future customers, and hold a service department accountable for repeated unsafe and unprofessional behavior. read more

Barnes Crossing Kia was selected for insurance-related repair because they could get the vehicle in immediately. If it sounds too good to be true... Every day for over a week I have been told it would be ready the next day (including a day the two "master" mechanics weren't even working because they were taking a class. I sat on hold 21 minutes before someone picked up and hung up the phone. They've had the part in for over a full week now and FINALLY "had to take apart the whole front-end to get to the harness" today. Seems like that could've been done the week before the part arrived since it would "go right in as soon as the part delivered". Needless to say, repeat business from me they will not receive and I hope my review helps someone else avoid this frustration. Kudos to "Madeline" who answered my callback after my 21 minute wait and hang up. She didn't make excuses, made an effort to get me an update and returned to the phone afterwards. read more

Service department is extremely poorly operated. Don't bother making an appointment because it will not be honored. I showed up on a Saturday after receiving three texts from the dealership to confirm I was coming, only to arrive 15 minutes early for my scheduled time and told that they actually dont do appointments on Saturdays. I had said okay that is fine, I will make an appointment for later in the week and was told that my wait time would likely be the same as it is now, just first come first serve. Why bother with appointments? What does the customer gain here? I left a message contacting the dealership through their website asking for the manager, nobody followed up. Was looking for routine maintenance and to purchase parts from the shop for installation. I had business to give, but will gladly go to a less conveniently located shop as me and my time is not appreciated. read more

Absolutely the most incompetent service department I have ever encountered. The do NOT take appointments. The service advisors are not knowledgeable and technicians can't diagnose problems. I used google to fix the issue that they couldn't figure out how to fix. They are crooks. After my fourth service and the second time in a row I was told I needed an alignment, I overheard the service advisor tell two other customers their vehicles also needed alignments. They said someone should be contacting me to schedule an appointment. A month later, nothing. My KIA is less than 3 years old with 13k miles on it. I'm a single woman with a meager job. My car I bought from them was messing up. They did a diagnostic. I paid 58 for it bc I refused service bc I had to have my car to go home that night. I brought it back the next day. They wanted to change the spark plugs and had to order parts. Oil valves. I left my car overnight so they could get to it. They never called me. Forgot my appointment and no part. I had no ride so they did get me a rental car. I came back and got my car after they had it. It wasn't fixed. Spent 559.00 for nothing. Told those were the obvious things needed to fix. I needed another diagnostics ... I was in traffic stalling on the phone with the service manager. She tells me my cars high miles and parts are just worn. My point : it's a Kia dealer they are suppose to know about their cars. It's a rip off. I missed a work related trip and had to bug my coworkers for rides bc of their incompetence. 559 dollars for basically,sorry about your luck. I won't ever deal or buy another Kia. This is a review based on the experience I had today at Barnes Crossing Kia. I had an appointment setup to look at very specific items. When I showed up they did not have those items listed, but instead asked me if I wanted an oil change. I have been to a lot of Kia service centers in the US and this is the first time I have been called a liar. The lady at the service center needs to leave the chip at home and be more professional. I understand people have bad days, I have been there, but don't take it out on a paying customer, they pay your paycheck. Today was a complete waste of my time that I will never get back, had to drive 40 minutes to have nothing done. Some recommendations for this particular Kia Dealership: 1. Go to a successful Kia dealership to see how it is done. 2. Every Kia dealership I have been to, which is many throughout the US, the service staff will come to you in the customer waiting area to go over issues or ask additional questions, not call out your name and then act as if you were a nuisance. 3. Stock adequate parts. This has been the 3rd time I have had to pay for a diagnosis for issues, then drive 40 minutes to finally get the work done. I used to work in maintenance and understand not all parts will be stocked, however common items should be stocked. An A/C compressor is pretty common and at least one per make/model could be stocked. I can go to Napa and pretty much guaranteed they will have the A/C compressor I need. 4. Don't have an attitude, be professional and calm, we just want to get our cars fixed and fixed correctly. 5. Have the service staff attend a soft skills training session to understand how to calmly work with the public that utilizes their services. Soft skills training will also help in deescalation and positive outcomes. I witnessed a few weeks ago, a customer getting very irate at the service staff, I didn't then understand why, but do now. I will not get that extreme just take my business elsewhere. 6. The entire service staff needs to have some sort of team building so they work well together, it seems very disjointed which will drive the actual technicians crazy by bombarding them with items they weren't prepared to handle that given day. This can cause unnecessary chaos which will lead to even more stress. 7. Tell the sales folks to stop hovering around the customer waiting area, talking loud, changing the TV channel, turning the volume up really loud so they can see the latest sports outcomes. If they have that much free time, cross train them to help the service folks, they need it. 8. If something isn't done at this particular Kia, it will probably be out of business in a year or less. I used to go to a excellent Kia dealership in South Carolina and even though they had outstanding service and sales departments and were always very busy, they did go out of business. I personally do not want that to happen because there are no other Kia dealerships close. But if I have to drive 1.5 to 2 hours to get excellent service then I will do it. Currently I am hesitant to recommend this business due to the lack of professionalism/soft skills and having to return due to repair not correcting the problem. I hope they get better, would be sad if the only Kia dealership in the area goes out of business. There would be a lot of very unhappy Kia owners who may just decide to trade their cars in for a more common vehicle. read more
