I admit a Bias here so I rated myself a Fair A-OK. I'll let the Listeners tell the rest of the story.

JoeTeehan's local show in the afternoon, as well as all the other places Joe turns up are a bright light in the station's broadcasting. I'm sure he has some loyal staff members that deserve recognition as well, together, they give voice to local opinion, events, activities, do a pretty good job of it. Bravo!

It's either the way she sees it or it doesn't matter Scattered is an understatement! She certainly is not a representative that KGMI can be proud of . I have often wondered about the judgment of the management of KGMI & wondered are they really listening to this woman! A change would be good. Thank you to the previous reviewer who has the courage to comment on this. A change on this morning show would be great & welcomed by many I believe.

You know it's between 12:30pm and 1:45pm if they play Strangle Hold by Nugent.... I have to listen to it at work, as it's the local station so someone has a radio on. 5 days a week for 13 years and I swear they just recorded 1 day worth of programming, and then cut in local news and weather reports to make it sound like a new day. It's really monotonous.

However, this review is to rave about their tremendous outreach in the community. Dave and Mandy are everywhere and pop up in the most unlikely of places to promote various businesses and charity events and fundraisers. Royal Family Kids Camp, appreciation events for various businesses. Mandy's to-do list- is a wealth of info for local happenings and many free events listed. I have submitted several events to their community calendar, and they have been accepted. Dave and Mandy are so fun, and again, they are about community, community, community!

"The Sports Leader"? I hear far too many announcing errors to even pay much attention to KPUG. In…read morethe fall of 2014, I was listening to a scoreboard show, and the KPUG staff announcer gave a score, saying the Chicago Bulls had beaten the Pittsburgh Pirates. Since it was an NFL game, he'd screwed up on not one, but THREE leagues. In January of 2015, I turned on KPUG to listen to the Husky Coaches Show. It took about 2 seconds to realize "The Sports Leader" was playing a program from another season, since they gave scores from a road trip to the Bay Area, where the Dawgs haven't played yet this season. I called, & the "producer" said "CRAP!! I'm playing a show from last year!!" I also take issue to Mariners, Huskies, and Seahawks programming being shifted to on of the sister stations, but stuff happens- at least they're on the air. Small town radio can be great. Small time makes me go "Uff da!!". KNBR should stop these people from using the phrase they appropriated. Whenever possible, for sports where I have a choice, I listen to KBRC out of Mt Vernon, which has a stronger signal where I live.

It's a fine, compact newspaper full of local news, both big stories and small, with a focus on the latest from San Juan Island, Friday Harbor, Eastsound, Orcas Island, and occasionally something about Lopez Island and Shaw. Of course I like it best for its news articles, but I also read the letters to the editor as well as the ads and the classified section. The paper helps with the transition from the rush of the mainland to life on island time. There's not much better to find a window seat on the ferry, sit back, and read and support a decent local newspaper.

I was fortunate enough to attend the launch party for this new publication earlier this summer, and frankly, was doubtful it would survive through the end of the year. However, the second issue (August/September 2009) is attractive, well-designed and appears to be well written. Bellingham Alive! will definitely find an audience in this picturesque, well educated small city. Featuring stories about Skagit's tidal flats, Lynden's dairy farms, Whatcom's scenic parks, and Fairhaven's legendary local bookstore, Village Books the current issue also provides an informative guide to the area's boutique wineries. Also worth noting is Kera Wanielista's story about Western Washington University, rising tuition and the budget woes faced by Bruce Shepherd during his first year as President of the 116 year old institution. This magazine should be on every Puget Sound coffee table. Only $3.99 at your local newsstand, Bellingham Alive! is a steal at the introductory subscription rate of $11 per year or $20 for two years.

They publish an annual Best of the NW edition where locals vote on their favorite businesses. This fun and festive tradition culminates in October with a swanky party to celebrate the winners.
