This is a "must do" if you are in town on a Thursday evening. We planned our afternoon so we could…read morehit this on our way back to our room. As soon as I walked in, I found fresh figs! Everything looked amazing. Lots of fresh, local produce. Several local purveyors were present, too, such as Texas Olive Ranch and CKC Farms Goat Cheese. Everyone was happy to speak with you about their goods. There was even brick oven pizza made on the spot. We ordered a peach, yes, peach and goat cheese pizza along with a margarita pizza to accompany our fresh figs, blackberries, bread, peach & chipotle goat cheese and aged balsamic vinegar...all from the farmers' market. I could easily have added more, but we won't have room to transport it all home when we leave town. They have live music, too, which was very pleasant. Smiles abounded everywhere and you couldn't find a stranger.

Apparently, this farmers market meets on Thursdays and not just the weekend. Because of the rain it…read morewas held under a large pavilion, and maybe that's the reason it was held on a Thursday. On our visit there was a beer vendor, wine tasting along with a traveling pizza oven making pizzas. This is not a big farmers market and there were just over a dozen vendors. Four of them were cooking up food. Plenty of picnic tables to sit at in the same park that hosts the annual October fest. They even had a folk singing duo which added to the ambience.

I am completely in love with this farmer's market. It's at the end of the road on dirt, so it has…read moremuch more of a local feel than the city's farmers markets. It's got lots of picnic tables for sitting and eating. There is a perfect balance of produce, ready made food, and handmade items. Notable Vendors: -The Thai Street Food stall is amazing. -There is a lady that comes and brings her adorable knitted stuffed animals! -A vendor selling dumplings we definitely want to try next time! -A stand making fresh lemonade that my BF said was the best lemonade he has ever had. My haul included: -Handmade fruit and nut Bars (Oovey's) -Homemade Greek Dips (Hummus, Tzatziki, Babaganoush) -Pad Thai and Thai Beef from the Thai Street food Vendor All the vendors are so friendly and wonderful and you can tell they are so passionate about the items they make :) On Sundays from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Every time we head up to the lake house in LBJ we make a point to come here on Sunday. We load a cooler to take back home with us! Our main stops are: 1. Capital City Ceviche - they make Hawaiian poke just like back home in Hawaii. Since moving to Texas, that was something we haven't been able to find that is good. But here.....OMG the best! 2. JW Seafood - specifically when in season, the fresh oysters are amazing! 3. Prairie's Prairies- they have quality French pastries and baked goods. We love their scones, croissants, and their puffs....oh yum! 4. Goodie Dumplings- They make them fresh on site or have frozen to take home. They have everything from veggie, chicken, beef, pork, and seafood! This are so good. It is usually a snack while we walk around and then we take some to go to add to our ramen at home. They add a lot of vendors throughout the year which is fun! They have craft items as well which we have even bought a few items from those booths as well. Next time you're in Spicewood on a Sunday, be sure to stop in! :)

Some of the best peaches I've had in a long time! Wish we lived closer to visit more oftenread more

There are many options when it comes to fruit and vegetable stands in Fredericksburg and they also…read morehave a farmers market every Thursday afternoon. We stopped at Studebakers's Farm Stand for a couple reasons. First it wasn't a large brick and mortar and second the focus was peaches ! It is a medium size building-a barn type structure with multiple wooden fruit stands inside. The peaches are beautifully displayed in baskets of varying sizes, the size determines the price. The young lady who assisted me was very nice and helpful too! (Despite the fact that it was 103' outside-the structure provided shade but it was still quite hot!-my temperament changes a bit when I have to be out in that oppressive heat!) Before I go on-imagine how a perfectly shaped peach, at the height of ripeness smells....that heavenly pure peach smell was so intoxicating and it was the first thing I noticed upon entering the fruit stand!! Believe me, I had to practice severe restraint not to get several bushels because I could easily imagine making Peach Pie, Peach Cobbler and Peach Jam....maybe even Peach Ice Cream ....I regress! I advised I was looking for a peach that's best eaten from the hand...(they are a very low calorie option) and I asked if she could make a recommendation. She said they offered six varieties and she recommended two that were touted for their sweetness. I chose a beautiful basket of a golden peach variety-sadly I forgot to photograph them in the basket as I was one of only two customers so she was able to quickly but carefully place them in a brown paper bag and complete our transaction. I'm adding a photo of them on my drying rack-we had already eaten three prior to snapping the pic. I can't even remember the last time I tasted such an incredibly delicious peach. Bite after bite-the perfect taste of ripeness as if I had plucked it directly from the tree, just firm enough so I was able to eat it easily while avoiding making a sticky mess, yet so juicy bite after bite. Honestly I was truly amazed at the flavor. If you are near Fredericksburg, I would highly recommend you stop. They have peaches pretty much thru September. You'll need to be on the lookout. It sits back just a bit from Highway 290-as you come in from Austin it will be on your left about 7 miles before you reach downtown Fredericksburg. Enjoy !
