Scrambled egg with American cheese and bacon on a biscuit.

Super casual diner. Very reasonably priced. Large servings. Not fancy at all, amazing biscuits. Had breakfast here and everything was really good. Well made. Don't expect to comehere and get a capuchino. You can get plain old drip. I'd definitely come back here.

OMG!! Who knew that this diner would serve some of the best griddle cakes I've ever had. They were buttery, fluffy, and had crisp edges. The bacon was served perfectly, lightly crispy, but not hard. The orange juice tasted fresh squeezed and was delicious. The service was great. Our waiter made sure to check on us periodically and ensured we were having a good experience. I can't wait to go back to try the oatmeal.

This is my third time here, whenever I'm in town. A great breakfast and awesome service!

Every time I come to this spot it's like coming home! The waiters are so kind and make you feel at home. Even the food tastes like grandma's cooking. I had the griddle cake with scrambled eggs and sausage and all I can say is my lord. The food had me slapping my knee it tasted so good. If you are ever in the area check this place out you will not be disappointed. This landmark just doesn't disappoint, they hit the mark every time.

I was so excited to arrive back in Memphis to find Barksdale's back open. The nostalgic ambiance was kept as they recovered from the fire. The interior has been updated but it still so warm and inviting. The restaurant was bustling and breakfast did not disappoint. The coffee cups stayed full with piping hot delicious coffee. Omelets and French Toast was so yummy. The stay was friendly.

The Grand Slam was outstanding. I asked for the Memphis hot chicken to be half their full heat. They brought the sauce on the side and made my eggs scrambled with cheese as requested. The service was impeccable, quick, accurate, and friendly. We loved seeing the Penny Hardaway and Elvis memorabilia on the walls. The coffee was great as well and they were quick to offer refills. 10/10 experience. Thank you Barksdale's, y'all started our Saturday off right!

Great food served with Southern Hospitality. Had the Denver Omelet, Grits, a Biscuit, with an unsweetened iced tea. The Grits here are different than what I've had recently in Louisiana. Both versions are great, but the Grits here at Barksdale's were not heavy on the butter, and very easy to eat. Be sure to order biscuits - plural - because you're going to want two of them. They're served with honey butter and a jam, both are a nice touch! The place is clean. Parking is easy. What more do you need in a diner? Stop by ASAP if you're in the area.

Visited this place on the first week of opening. (I did not know that at my time of visit) We were hoping for breakfast when we arrived at 11am. We had to help collect the dishes and wipe down our table prior to seating. No big deal. I'm sure they were short staff. Now, they advertised as an all day breakfast place.Unfortunately, once the waiter brought the menus he informed us that they had ran out of breakfast items. All of it!! So, we were told only lunch menu available. At this point I'm hungry and just want to eat. My guest ordered a patty melt (decent enough to eat) and I the country fried chicken steak. My food was disgustingly bland, smothered on a peppery gravy. The mash potatoes were water down. No flavor at all!! I took 3 bites and could not eat anymore!! I'll never come back! But, the pricing was decent. But still won't visit again. First impression matters to me.

Our first trip back since they reopened with new owners. The food was great the service was friendly and the place looked and felt the same as before. I got the country ham plate came with a big ol' piece of ham 2 eggs and hash browns and a large biscuit that was nice and buttery. It still has that diner feel . Don't hesitate to give them a try.

Let me start by saying this: I truly enjoy this restaurant. The atmosphere is unique, the concept is fun, and historically the food and service have been reliable. That's exactly why this experience stood out so much. For a party of our size, we would have preferred seating toward the back of the restaurant where it was noticeably warmer and more comfortable. Instead, we were seated in an area that felt a bit chilly, which set the tone for the evening. The bigger issue, however, was with the food and service execution. Four dishes out of our party of twelve were essentially untouched. Two scallop entrées and the Steak Frites were overcooked, tough, and unfortunately inedible. The special ribeye of the night--the most expensive entrée--was also not finished. What concerned me most was that no one from the service team paused to read the table or ask why multiple plates remained full. Only one dish was removed, and there was no follow-up conversation about the others. We spent over $800 that evening, including drinks, appetizers, sides, and desserts, so expectations for attentiveness and quality were understandably higher. When a table leaves several entrées uneaten, that's usually a signal worth acknowledging. After the visit, on January 9, 2025, I took the time to provide feedback privately through OpenTable in the hope that management would review it and respond. Unfortunately, I never received any acknowledgment. Even a brief reply would have gone a long way. Silence, in this case, was disappointing and felt like a missed opportunity to demonstrate care and accountability. I'm sharing this feedback because I believe in the restaurant and want to see it succeed. I work in a customer-facing industry myself, and I know firsthand how small service touches--checking in, asking questions, and following up--can make the difference between a good experience and one that keeps guests coming back. I genuinely hope this was just an off night. I would still consider returning, but I do hope the level of attentiveness and follow-through improves.

Michelin-Quality Food in the Most Unexpected Setting…read more **Rating: ** Bryant's Breakfast is a study in contrasts, and that's exactly what makes it extraordinary. Walk through the door and you'll find yourself in what can only be described as a high school cafeteria aesthetic--fluorescent lighting, simple tables, no-frills decor. But order your food, and you'll quickly realize you've stumbled onto something truly special. ## The Food: Breakfast Perfection The biscuits alone are worth the visit. These aren't your average biscuits--they're fluffy, buttery masterpieces that practically melt in your mouth. Each one arrives at your table with layers that pull apart perfectly, golden-brown on top, impossibly tender inside. The thick-cut bacon strikes that elusive balance between crispy and meaty, with just the right amount of char on the edges. The sausage is clearly made with care, well-seasoned and flavorful without being greasy. And the eggs? Cooked exactly as you order them, every single time. Whether you want them over-easy with that perfect runny yolk or scrambled to creamy perfection, they deliver. ## The Secret Sauce: Obsessive Consistency!! Here's what sets Bryant's apart from every other breakfast spot in town: their almost obsessive commitment to consistency. Visit on a Wed at 7 AM or a Saturday at 1PM, and you'll get the exact same quality. The bacon is always thick-cut to the same specification. The biscuits are always equally fluffy. The eggs are always cooked with the same precision. This isn't luck--this is a team that has perfected their craft and refuses to let standards slip. ## Service That Rivals Fine Dining Despite the cafeteria setting, the service operates at a level you'd expect from a five-star Michelin restaurant. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely seems to care about your experience. Orders arrive promptly. Coffee cups are refilled before you realize they're empty. Special requests are handled with grace and efficiency. ## The No-Friction Experience Everything about Bryants is designed to be effortless. Ordering is straightforward. Seating is quick. The menu is clear and well-organized. Payment is smooth. There are no unnecessary complications, no pretentious service rituals, no waiting around wondering if your server forgot about you. You walk in, you order phenomenal food, you eat, and you leave satisfied. Simple. ## Exceptional Value!!

I feel like this place embodies the essence of my inner peace somehow. It was born as a overflow bar for Iris from the lore I hear. To me, as I see it, this place became Chef Kelly's escape to reality as far as food, atmosphere, and service are concerned. I think this place presents his personality in his relaxed more chill version. If you have ever been to Iris, specifically, when it was next door, you would understand what I mean. When it was the tiny place it had some kind of pretentiousness to it that just turned me off. I only ate there once. It would take weeks to get a reservation before he moved it and the constant limelight had to be a lot of pressure. This place though.... I could come here three times a week no issue. In fact, I actually wish that I could eat here three days a week. Second Line is moving soon. They are going back to being next door to Iris in the newer Laurelwood location. In some ways I wonder if Chef needs that jovial comfort of a place next to Iris to keep him grounded. I do hope the charm of this is somehow transferred, but looking out the windows into Cooper the last time I was here Dec '25, just will not be a possibility in that shopping center it's headed to. That will be lost. He's a great guy! Hell of a Chef! World class employer! Tremendous philanthropist! A leader in the City of Memphis! Please go support him in the new location. Now.... All that BS and I ain't said shit about the food and why I like this place so much. If you scroll through my photos you will see almost every dish that has ever been on the menu here.
