Our Taxi Driver, Cristian Ranieri drives primarily in Bari Italy and vicinity.
We decided late in the morning that we wanted to see the tiny conical, beehive-shaped huts called Trulli in Alberobello. He picked us up at our cruise ship terminal and drove some 65km to see them. He waited ninety minutes for us and then drove us back to Bari.
With the help of our Viking representative, we negotiated a €140 fare and gave him a €30 Tip at the end of our journey.
The Trulli huts at Alberobello's are considered the most extensive and best preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site (see photos). You will be amazed to see how the locals have converted these spaces into cafés, shops and stylish homes. Ohhh, and into tourist shops, too. LOL
So how good was Cristian? At one point it started raining and I gave our one umbrella to my wife and companion. He then came back and found me with a huge golf umbrella, to walk me back to his VW Atlas cab. Nice!
