I knew I should've checked the yelp reviews. The worst burger I've had in a long time. We ordered five different burgers including chicken sandwiches and even the chicken was super dry. The breading was slightly burnt and way over cooked. The burgers were worse. Even the brioche buns were dry and tasted like week old bread falling apart. Zero seasoning on the burgers and couldn't even taste the cheese. I love Bareburger because even as a vegetarian, there are a ton of options, whether I'm looking for something healthy or a little greasy. I especially love the build-your-own burger options, and I recently tried the Impossible Burger which may be my new go-to. I don't think I've ever tried a burger, salad, or side I haven't liked, and the food is always fresh and well made. This particular location is on the smaller side and gets pretty crowded, but if there's a wait, they'll take your number and text you when your table is ready. read more

I order delivery here all the time. Tonight, there was a mix up with the delivery and I received the wrong order. Totally understandable as they were similar orders to people with the same name! I got a refund from Uber Eats and decided to order again because it was little late and I didn't want to have to figure out something else when I already had bareburger on my mind. The manager (I can't remember his name but he was working the night of 3/23) called me and was so nice about it and offered me some add-ons to my order and assured me they would get me the right order this time. Terrible service punctuated my experience here recently. Service was slow, my server was inattentive, did not bring me anything I asked for,I had to ask another server for help. My server got my order wrong, and didn't bring me sauce that they charged me for. I had a burger that was not well seasoned, neither were the wings, but the French fries were good. I've been a Bareburger fan for a while, and it's been fun watching them expand and continue experimenting with awesome burgers. This time around, I got their Fire Quacker, and it was awesome! I've never had such a juicy duck burger or sandwich. The chipotle mayo, red onions, spinach and japalenos on top were great flavor compliments. I was very pleased! I always forget, but unfortunately, I find their sweet potato fries a little soggy. You can skip those. Delivery was pretty quick. read more

Tl;dr: vegetarians rejoice! A delicious burger place!! Get the rings and sweet fries and shakes! Avoid the kale wrap. I like the fact that you can substitute any patty for the pre-made burgers. Yes there is a make your own burger option but there are times I don't want to think about the flavor profile I want to eat and just take one they made. Being a vegetarian this sometimes is not possible because many other places do not allow substitutions. I have gotten 3 burgers from this place now and they have all been very tasty and not greasy! I highly recommend the side of onion rings and sweet potato fries!! Plus the shakes and the coffee are so good here! A major downside was the Kale wrap was very chewy and hard to eat. But there is a sprout bun available that I believe is gluten free which is the much better option. This place is friendly to all sorts of dietary restrictions and conscientious of the environment unlike Shake shack. Each time, I was kinda like - eh, it's okay. Like it's a place I WANT to like. Because I do love burgers. I just feel like it's too much of a good thing. Not sure the hype. And a place that doesn't have fries come with their burgers is a bit suspect to me. The burgers have to be TOP SHELF if they don't come with fries (Five Napkin comes to mind). I had just adopted a kitten (shoutout to Anjellicle!) and was on my way back from the adoption seminar, when my stomach growled. What do I smell? I can make out the faintest smell of grilling meat. What do I see? Lo and behold, it's a Bareburger! I had heard about this chain from various people, but I had no actually eaten here, so today was the day to do it. Great! It was a little past lunchtime, so seats were quickly found, and we were situated within moments. It was a late lunch, so we decided to split sliders instead of getting a full burger (maybe this is where we messed up...), after all, what's better than a burger? Three (smaller) burgers! So we ordered the Mammer Jammer Sliders ($13.85), strawberry lemonade, and fries, as any burger-loving man is want to do. We didn't just get any fries; we had to get the Macho fries ($11.95) because with a name like that, these fries were promising fatty food satisfaction. Food (2.5/5) Strawberry Lemonade (2/5): The strawberry lemonade might need be renamed "lemon juice and ice." To me, strawberry lemonade promises sweet strawberry flavor accentuated by tart lemon notes. Unfortunately, this drink tasted nothing of strawberry, and the lemonade itself wasn't particularly sweet. To make matters worse, with so much ice, the already weak strawberry lemonade only got more diluted over time. Mammer Jammer Sliders (2/5): The menu describes these burgers as having brisket, pepper jack, pickled jalapenos, and paprika mayo. The slider did not live up to the promise of a succulent and spicy sandwich. The brisket itself was way too tough and smoky. When it's sliced as thin as it was, the resultant meat becomes more like beef jerky than the juicy barbecue brisket one might expect. Second, the jalapenos, while pretty standard, were overpowering. Simply speaking, the jalapenos were cut thicker than the brisket, which meant that it dominated the slider in both texture and flavor. Lastly, there wasn't enough paprika mayo for it to shine through. Translation: the slider was way too dry between the beef brisket "jerky" and the lack of mayo. Macho Fries (4/5): If I die young, it'll be because of fries. If there's anything I want to eat when I'm drunk, it's nachos. Now combine the two and you have Macho fries. With a generous serving of guacamole, salsa, and ranch, these fries could easily be anyone's guilty pleasure. The fries were cut thicker, which I typically like. However, I found that with so many wet toppings, e.g. the salsa, ranch, and guac, the fries that touched any of the toppings were quite soggy. I don't know if business will ever read comments like this one, but hopefully someday they'll either 1) triple fry the fries, or 2) cut them thinner. Either way, if I come back to Bareburger, it'll be for the Macho fries. Maybe I'll make a full meal out of them...shhh, don't tell my mom... Service (4/5) The staff was incredibly friendly and good about water service. Food came out pretty quickly, too, which is always a plus. The one downside would be that it took them a while to bring out the check after we requested it. Not a big deal, all things considered! I think Bareburger, despite its prices, is a decent place to grab some food. It's pretty standard fare with a menu that holds so much potential to be delicious but fails to live up to its own hype. If you want to have a consistently satisfying dining experience, this is the place for you. If you want to eat good food, I'm sure there are innumerable better burger joints elsewhere. read more

I'm totally partial to Shake Shack, however I decided to give BareBurger a shot. I had seen them popping up everywhere and a friend of mine suggested I try it. Honestly, I'm a tad creeped out reading things like "elk" and "bison" on the menu, but I decided to give it a chance. I ordered the Buckaroo which is a burger topped with brisket, aged cheddar and mushrooms. Amazing! My friend ordered the hot honey chicken, which was good as well, and we shared the fries/onion ring basket. All of it was delicious. It's a bit pricey for a burger joint, but considering I'm used to Shake Shack's prices, it wasn't a big deal. It was $36 for our meal (and we only had water). Also the fact that they pride themselves on being totally organic, grass fed, etc. kinda cushions the price. All in all, I enjoyed. It won't replace Shake Shack, but I'll definitely be returning. read more

Everything at this restaurant is organic! That's what they strive for. If you expect some typical burger, this is not your place. They have different types of meat for their burgers (not just the typical beef), so it's definitely unique. Their burgers are so delicious. You can either make your own burger or you can order a custom one that they compiled. I can not stress how delicious their burgers were. Prices are a tad steep, but you do pay for what you get- fresh ingredients and a delicious meal! If you're a burger person, definitely give it a try! read more

Bareburger is always a good time. My go-to burger is the So Cal, which feels a little healthier with its turkey and guac. I also get the Impossible Burger when I want to eat a burger but don't necessarily want to feel like I just ate a burger. The fried chicken sandwiches are better than expected too. Throw in an order of Rings & Fries for the table and you've got a hit. I've been to a lot of locations, but this Upper West Side location particularly gets a lot of love for being so family friendly. There are plenty of high chairs and they give crayon sets upon request. Expect tons of families if you're coming in on for a weekend lunch. Soooo I had the blue elk burger which had an elk patty, Amish blue cheese, stout onions, bacon, and tomato fig jam on sprout bun (basically whole wheat bun). OMFG. The best burger I've had in awhile. I was hesitant about having elk meat, but to be honest, tastes better than cow. Everything about this burger was perfect. Well, almost everything... I wish the bacon were crispier so it would be easier to bite into - instead it was almost like chewy Canadian bacon. I still tore that thang up. Chicken delivered 10 minutes after dressing. I had the quinoa patty burger which was decent. Except for the brioche roll, and I love a brioche roll. But this was flat and boring (with seeds!). Came here for the first time last week. I was with my girlfriend; we have about a year eating healthy, so as a " cheat day " we decided to go burger and fries but the HEALTHY way... This branch of Bareburger is very awesome. I had only visited the one in the FiDi and this UWS location is far better. First of all, the dining area is better. This place is a sit-down restaurant with a hostess station and servers who come to your table or booth, like at most restaurants. The decor is really cool, with animal heads and paintings (photos) of stuff like goats wearing dresses. Second of all, and most important, the food is better here. They have a delicious quinoa patty. Tried this Bareburger for the first time yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and the service, as well as the non-GMO, gluten-free, organic, vegetarian options. As I don't eat red meat, I usually avoid burger joints; but here, my friend was able to get a grass-fed beef burger on a gluten-free bun, while I had a yam/rice/kale "burger" wrapped in steamed collard greens; the addition of tomato, dill pickle and house ketchup gave it a burger-y flavor profile, while according to the menu, the whole wrap (tasty, very filling!) was only 211 calories. Sold! That said, helicopter parents of the UWS, I wouldn't recommend the collard wrap for your 6-year-old. It's dark green and chewy. But they'll scarf down the sweet potato fries, which are addictive! 'Nough said. Loved our cool lunchtime waiter, who handled the entire place with ease. Will return for that same combo. Since a piece of grilled chicken on a gluten-free bun at Shake Shack costs the same $9+ as my organic wrap here, the prices are fairly comparable. read more

Second time, I built a burger but wrapped in the collard greens wrap. The collard greens could use some more blanching so it's not so tough, but I've blanched greens before and there's only so much you can do. It was decent for being a "healthier" burger.
