Bar One is a fantastic little restaurant and bar in Milford. I've gotten here a few times on the way back from hiking in the Monadnock region. I love their salads, flatbreads and sandwiches. Ok, basically their entire menu is delicious and made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. On top of all that, they have an amazing cocktail list and lots of delicious draft beers. The service always seems friendly, although has been a tad bit slow on occasion. Nothing bad enough to deduct any stars from because everything else has been fantastic. This is a great bar, but not a great restaurant. On the plus side... there is a great vibe (it's noisy!) and the homemade chips are amazing. The food is fresh and the presentation is very nice. The beer choices were great and the service was very good. We got a booth on a busy Fri night much faster than expected. The Magic Mushroom flat bread was a good app to share with crunchy crust and great flavor. On the neg side... all of our meals were too sugary. I had the Black Burger and the candied bacon killed it. The burger was juicy and the the bun was delish, so once I removed the bacon it was good. The poppy slaw was fresh, but too sweet for my taste. My son had the Cubano sandwich and the honey sauce made the whole sandwich taste like sweet BBQ sauce. Didn't taste like a Cubano at all. My hubby ordered the Fried Chicken and guess what? The batter on the chicken was sweet. Not a little, but a lot. His brussels sprouts were very good, and the mashed sweet potatoes were really good as well. The slice of corn bread was more like a slice of cake though. We left thinking we would come back for a beer, but not dinner next time. The chef seems to have a sweet tooth and while a hint of sweet is fine, when it is in every bite of almost every item it's just too much. read more

I don't give anyone 5 stars but Bar One is a gem in the town of Milford. Really creative food at amazing prices. Friendly staff and a cute atmosphere. It is within walking distance of the Milford Oval. They give you their homemade potato chips to snack on to start. Good draft beer selection. Beer prices normal-high but great food that changes seasonally. I had the "Green Queen" which was fried green tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, ripe red tomato slices (the real deal, not pale!) drizzled with balsamic glaze and crumbled with bacon. I had Fried Catfish on the side, delicious! My husband had the Shrimp and Grits which included Pork Belly slices. Nice smoky flavor to the grits, we shared! My favorite spot in the area! read more

Been here several times, the food is always great. It has a cool vibe and the bartenders make excellent drinks. Try the poutine or any of the other specialty items. The portions are generous and prices reasonable. Go early as it's hard to get a seat and there's often a line out the door. The cook also worked at Clarks and the menu has a similar feel. Small kitchen so be prepared to wait for your meals if it's busy - easy to pass the time people watching or sipping some of their unique cocktails. read more

Very nice menu, average craft beer selection. Servers were nice but there was a wait and really no place to sit for it. We hung out in the alley next door to the place. Common for Milford but it's still a drag. Food was awesome, had nachos, hush puppies and mac-n-cheese flatbread. All good above average tapas. It's pretty loud although it was Saturday night. Still, it's loud and you can barely hear the music playing. Not sure why the played any really. We will be back, will try during the week. read more

Without a doubt this is the finest little bar in the northeast. Food is fantastic very fairly priced and reasonable portions. Drinks speak for themselves. Perfect Moscow Mule and a delicious dessert Expresso Martini. That takes care of food and drink a perfect 10 on both. Now comes the atmosphere. People gather here to chat and make new friends. I went to the pop up brunch. There was a big line at 9:50 outside in the rain but we weren't let in till 10. I just got a regular coffee and my parents got drinks. My mom and her friend waited 20 minutes for a mimosa. When we got our food, everyone who had ordered something with eggs got cold eggs. I couldn't even eat mine. I'm hesitant to post a sub-five star review since this is my first Yelp review. I submit this in hopes that that it will help the bar owners improve what is already a promising effort. On a busy Friday evening, found parking directly across the street and was seated immediately with a party of four. I ordered one of the specialty cocktails that came in a martini glass. The glass was only three quarters full - easy for the waiter to carry, but not what I was expecting. Ordered the poutine because I visit Montreal frequently and love the stuff. But this was WAY too salty as were the cajun rubbed wings that my wife ordered. Then we ordered the charcuterie and were disappointed again. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the fare I'm used to at the restaurants in Portland, ME, but this offering really needed a roasted garlic centerpiece and cheese that didn't seem like it came from Market Basket. The staff was very friendly but distracted (they doubled up our drink order). I think the Bar One management is young and that they will learn and improve. I hope this review helps. read more

Awesome food. Almost a southern feel with the general good natured atmosphere. Took a sec to get through the rounds but only because they seem to actually be friends with the patrons, so everyone is greeted warmly and given due time. This was our first time here and will definitely be back. There is a great selection of draft beers as well as original cocktails. We tried two of the specialty burgers and they both came out excellent. The staff was very friendly and we were promptly seated and had our orders taken. We LOVED everything. We tried several small plates and a few drinks and everything was AMAZING. This place is doing everything right. I loved the bacon and the sweet potato fries specifically. I hope they add more full sized entrees to their menu in the future since mostly they have sandwiches and flatbreads right now in addition to their small plates. This place certainly blows away Pig Tale which is the closest comparable restaurant. We will definitely be back and are so excited such an amazing restaurant so close to our house. read more

Food was really good! We ordered the duck confit poutine, fish and chips and gnocchi. Overall very solid!! Some of the gnocchi were over cooked and slightly gummy but not too bad. Cocktails and beer list were also really strong. Bar tender seemed really nice! Atmosphere is nice, cozy spot. The service started off really well and then we sat with a dessert menu for over 10 minutes... good news dessert was amazing!!! Worth the wait. Fantastic food and great service! We had the charcuterie and it was perfect. Beautiful meats, cheeses, and pickled veggies. It was huge so we ended up taking some home. This place is the best thing to happen to Milford, NH in a while. The food is amazing, the staff is always friendly no matter how busy they are (this place is so good that they're usually hopping) and the beer and drink selection is great. My wife and I frequent Bar One often, as it's only a few minute walk for us, but we recommend making the drive if you don't live close because you will not be disappointed. Bar One also treats it's employees with kindness and respect, which for anyone who has ever worked in the food service industry can be difficult to find. We came to Bar One on a Saturday night without a reservation. We were seated in about 10 minutes despite how busy it was which was nice. The atmosphere is very nice (loud as well) and has a great bar scene. We ordered right away and were served in about 10 minutes. We ordered the duck confit poutine and magic mushroom flatbread. Both were delicious! Great amount of truffle on the flatbread and the fries were hot and crispy. Two reasons for the 4/5 stars however. The first being we weren't given plates or silverware when we got our meals, and had to ask for them. The second being we weren't checked in on at all during our meal to see if we needed anything or were enjoying our time. We had to ask for the bill in the end even after being there for more than an hour on a busy night. We were joking that we probably could have left and no one would have noticed. I was really disappointed by this as I had heard great things about the restaurant and our meal was fantastic. Better service and it would have been an easy 5 stars. I will definitely be back as the food was delicious and hope the service will be better and the first time was just a fluke! Looking forward to trying the truffle fries and Mac and cheese next time as their menu is fun and diverse. read more
