Gołdap is still not a popular tourist destination, despite being the only formally designated…read morehealth resort in the Mazury region. So there is no food scene, no hipster gastropubs and no tourist traps as well. Not that many restaurants at all... but from the few, Matrioszka stands out. The menu reflects the regional cuisine - it's part Polish, part Lithuanian and part Russian. And the food is really good - try the cold soup (chłodnik) served with potatoes on the side or one of the other dishes made from potatoes. You won't be disappointed. Watch out, the portions are really huge! And the prices are still quite low.
