We were welcomed to our outside table by Ivan--un grande! He is super nice and insightful with suggestions. He answered all of our questions in Italian and in English! The food: AMAZING! We started with a couple Jameson on the rocks (generous pour) and the calamari fritti as an appetizer. Buonissima! Lightly fried served with lemon wedges over un insalata valeriana--ottimo! After we ordered the spaghetti alla vongole veraci (fresh--not frozen) and the pappardelle con gamberetti e pesto dì pistacchio--wow! Totally different and wonderful! Food My cousin and I hared a Sicilian Cassata, good portion and great taste, although we felt it was a little too sweet. We ordered caffee freddo, basically is soft iced coffee. I was surprised when they gave us the coffee, it was the same taste and texture like my mom used to make, hence the 5 star. Everywhere else either don't have it or it's coffee with ice cubes in it, sad or some creamy coffee that was so sweet that could have been thrown across the room because they were disgusting Service Some were friendly and serving with a smile, but some your typical Sicilian with a serious face. I am not sure of the exact name of it, but there was a piece of salami with melted mozzarella on top of a brioche bun. Inside, there was also salami and mozzarella with a little tomato sauce. It was very good. There was plenty of salami and mozzarella, but the tomato sauce lacked. The bread was also very fluffy. I also tried a local favorite, a cassatelle. It was basically a fried turnover with a filling of ricotta cheese and chocolate. It was outstanding. I think what made it great was the cassatelle being served warm and how perfect it was cooked. Will I go back? Easily.

The place looks pretty lame and probably wouldn't be the kind of bar you'd go into. But it's real vintage, and the guy who runs it, Pino, is going to be so happy you came in. He says that article has brought him a ton of business. For the granita, you've got to ask for it - it's not displayed, but kept in a freezer near the door. Pino makes just a few seasonal flavours as well as classics each day, using only natural ingredients. A good sized granita costs less than 3€.
