Bar do Antonio ticks all the right boxes for me:
- Ice cold beer, estupidamente gelada? Check
- Delicious hearty yummie food? Check
- Sidewalk seating? Check
- Popular with locals? Check
We recently visited with some people from out of town (Canada) and a couple of Brazilians and enjoyed the place a lot. The food is really fantastic. Several won prizes at the annual Comida di Buteco festival. Highlights for us were the "costelinha embriagada" (beef ribs) and the moela (chicken gizzard). The torresmo was also outstanding; a little glass of Seleta (a well-known chachaça) made it even better.
A couple of years back, this boteco was featured in a New York Times article ("36 Hours in Belo Horizonte, Brazil" by Seth Kugel, April 25, 2014). If you're in Belo and interested to explore the boteco culture, Bar do Antonio is a good place to put on your list. read more
