After having a beyond disappointing Mother's Day dinner at another restaurant in Capitol Hill where we stayed for a short Seattle trip, we tried this place. It was SO good. I had a really great local IPA draft that was under $5... amazing!!!! We shared the charred broccoli which was incredible, spiced with a Spanish cherry pepper type of ingredient I'd never had but it was delicious omg. We split a prosciutto pie for two and I usually don't finish pizza but I ate the whole thing. The crust was crunchy and the meat was salted perfectly, not overly cheesy or saucy. So good and and great service. Definitely recommend making reservations as we had to sit at the bar on a Monday night which was no problem, but it was fully booked and is a tiny restaurant read more

Looking for something causal to eat before a movie at (close-ish) Central Cinema, we stopped in Bar Cotta. Bar Cotta was crowded, but some seats opened up the a bar. Intimate feel and efficient service. Bypaassing the Salumi (listed on the wall), we opted to spend our carbs on pizza and veggies. The brussel sporouts (with breadcrumbs and salasa verde) and carrots (wioth amond, mint and saba) came out before the pizza. Perfectly flavored in the wood grill and rightly portioned for two of us to share. Only to be toped by the Saliccia pizza with housemade fennel sausage. Having been to Chuck-E-Cheese that morning for a kid's birthday party, I can say that it was only after Bar Cotta that I'd really eaten pizza. read more

Recently went to happy hour with some friends at Bar Cotto for the first time and I have to say I like this place. Even though its on Capitol hill with very little parking Bar Cotto is an nice quaint place with great staff good pizza and decent prices. read more

The Salumi was great, however the pizza wasn't as good as I expected it to be. They seemed like Mioposto knock offs.... Just not as good. We actually ordered take out which is normally what we do at Mioposto but maybe our expectations were just too high. We had the Funghi and Patata. Terrible service !!!!!!I didn't even get to taste the pizza!!! I was given a little card . It simply said the name of the restaurant.. it said come in for a free Margharita Pizza ,the address And website. This was given to me by one of the owners that asked me to come in and try the pizza because I do a little bit of advertising with my job, as the owner NOTICED THIS we discussed it and he handed me the little card. It was very difficult for me to find the time to actually get there.. parking is almost none ,so that's difficult. However ,I showed up anyway ANYWAY. I walking to the restaurant looked around at the atmosphere. Look at the decorations and such. Noticed how many people were there..I didn't see a waitress or hostess or bartender at the time so I went up to the counter in the back and asked "You guys serve pizzas to go ?"and the man said yes. I asked "where do I order this".. the friendly man pointed to the bartender who had since returned to behind the bar. I presented the bartender on Saturday night at around 9 p.m. with this card..and she said that is a happy hour pizza and we don't serve it to go.. I explain myself and explain that this was not about a happy hour and that I was just here to taste the pizza and that I received this card from the owner. She said no. I said goodbye and left without any pizza I will never waste my time trying to get to this place again and I will not helping WITH FREE!!!! ADVERTISING for them. WOW IT'S JUST SIMPLY INCREDIBLE WHAT A NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE THIS WAS. I WILL MAKE SURE THAT PEOPLE KNOW TO BLACKLIST THIS PLACE..!!!!. After a terrible experience at a different Ethan Stowell restaurant, I had written off the group for a while. So, when Bar Cotto opened I didn't really think too much about it. Last night, however, I was really keen on some pizza and didn't want to sit at home with a take out from my favorite joint on Pine. I decided to give in and give Bar Cotto a try. Best decision ever. We walked into the tiny restaurant, maybe serves 35. We were lucky enough to grab two seats at the bar a little before 8. We were immediately greeted and water poured. I got the "I blame it on my momma", a fantastic tequila cocktail served up, and my partner got a local beer. Although the menu is very simple, about four categories (salads/veggies, salumi, bruschetta, and pizza), I had no idea what to get. I asked the bartender what the best items on the menu were and went with his recommendation: Talleggio and Roasted Grapes Bruschetta and the Funghi Pizza. I was totally blown away, the bruschetta was too good to explain, you just have to try it. The pizza had an amazing crisp crust and was definitely enough for 2. I was elated when I left Bar Cotto. It was a refreshing alternative to our Cap Hill grind. If there is one thing that I could knock off any points for it would be that the pizza could have been seasoned a little better. I added salt and red pepper oil to mine. The service, the food, and the atmosphere were ideal. I can't wait to come back. Also, if they don't already have a happy hour I hope one is coming soon...!!! read more

Amazing pizza and cured meats! My favorite place for a glass of vino and snacky type foods. I also am in love with their escarole salad which is a great complement to the other food. It's a very cozy restaurant and is great for an intimate date night. I have yet to be disappointed here. read more

Bar Cotto is another awesome Ethan Stowell place. Solid food (can't beat the wood fired pizza), fair prices, great wine selection, and excellent service. Just be aware that the restaurant is tiny, so if you're headed in on a Friday or Saturday you'll likely need to wait. One of the best happy hour deals in the area - full size pizzas for 1/2 of the normal price. And these are some delicious pizzas. Don't expect mountains of toppings and a fluffy crust - you will be disappointed. This is pizza for those who like a crisp thin crust with high-quality, flavorful and well-portioned toppings. Starters are great as well - I highly recommend the torta fritta (think savory doughnuts) as well as the castellano olives if they have them. Went here for HH and the pizzas were delish. Especially love the chili oil and pepper flakes offered with the pizzas, for the spicy lovers. A pizza seemed large enough to share with someone, as I was struggling to finish a pie by myself. Also ordered the meat sampler on happy hour and the mortadella bruschetta (regular menu) which were my favorite bites to share. I have been here a few times now. The drinks are top-notch. Most of the items I've had here were also very good including the pizzas, the burrata with eggplant, the crostinis, and the meat board. And the kitchen was very apologizing when we told them one of our dishes was too generously salted. The only thing I would like to see is more of a rotation of new items onto the menu. While I have my favorites from the menu, it would be nice to see some new items. read more

We grabbed dinner with our friend who lives in the neighborhood. We ordered the heirloom salad, eggplant and burrata, a charcuterie platter with five different types of cured meats, and a wood fired pizza to share. We loved everything that came to our table. I especially loved wrapping the cured meats around the billowy bread they is served and letting the buttery richness melt in my mouth with every bite. The drinks are also very yummy. My vesper was on point. This place can be pricey but worth the experience. They also send you home with some fresh pasta to enjoy later. I would like to try their happy hour some time. read more

The appetizers that we had -- the Burrata and the Caesar Salad -- were also quite good. The service was a bit lackluster and the music was a bit loud, but I'm hoping this was an "off night" because I'd really like to go back to have the pizza and the appetizers. First off, just go here...it's really, really good. Second, sit at the bar and, if it's the blond girl (think the receipt said Christina??), order a Manhattan AND an old fashioned. She clearly drinks them herself and has very discerning taste, because both were the best I have had. Happy hour here is off the hook. My wife got the happy hour house wine and it was really good. The pizza is ridiculously good, charcuterie board is really well portioned and delicious, salads were really good. Bar Cotto is a small salumeria and bar. Its decor is simple with an open cooking area. Rather plain, not ornate, clean and straight forward. The food is simple but packs a powerhouse of delicious exquisiteness. Had the buffalo mozarella with marinated mushrooms and crostini. Had the parma pizza, prosciuotto and arugula on it. Out of this world! The food is simple, light and delicate. The ingredients they use must be top of the line. High, high recommend. Reasonable prices for the high quality of the food.
