One of my favourite pieces of street art around Brighton is Banksy's Kissing Coppers on the side of the Prince Albert pub. Spray-painted by the anonymous artist before he became the don of contemporary graffiti, it features two life-size policemen locked in a passionate embrace and french-kiss. Most Brightonians seem to love it as much as I do but a few must have genuinely taken offence as it's been, ahem, vandalised a few times over the years.
Once exposed to Brighton's harsh rain and winds, Kissing Coppers is now shielded behind perspex incase anyone tries to graffiti over it or heaven forbid, try to steal the bricks in the middle of the night. In an ironic twist, there's a touching tribute of football legend George Best next to Kissing Coppers. I'm not sure whose work it is but it features the Mancunian legend scratching his arse in his trademark red shirt and white shorts! read more
