Complete shambles. They left my house unsecured overnight because they did not coordinate the locks to be fitted on the day of the door installation (which resulted in emergency locks having to be fitted the next day). They also supplied a bespoke entrance system, which simply doesn't work. Plus, they processed the order for the entrance system incorrectly and have over charged me for the monitors, with no indication of when I will be receiving the refund (which they acknowledge is due). Finally, I ordered new door furniture. None of it matched despite purporting to be in the same finish and they completely omitted one aspect which I am am still waiting for. The worst supplier experience I have had in a very long time. read more

After a building burglary, we selected Banham to install building-wide CCTV, which has just been completed. I'm really happy with the outcome. The installation engineer (M Walshe), in particular, really exceeded my expectations. There were a few uncertain technical issues when installation began - Mark discussed with me and came up with an alternate solution (better than what I'd originally proposed) and was able to adjust the quote and bring in the additional equipment needed the next day. It was a pretty stress-free installation - Mark did everything and left hardly a trace - Very clean, neat, and tidy work. The CCTV app for viewing works really well, and I'm able to share viewing permissions with others in the building, but choose exactly what permissions they get (for example, live view only of only those cameras I select). read more
Banhams are well known in London as the manufacturers of high security locks and alarms. Their mortice deadlocks are found on many a London apartment door. They're expensive, but you're paying for the service: they take security seriously. They take details (address, name) of every property to which they fit a lock, and will only provide spare or extra keys if you can provide evidence that you are the legal owner. I've also bought window locks there (they have a good range of general door and window fittings) and sought advice on security from them. Service in the shop can be a bit haphazard when they are busy (I had to wait quite a long time while they dealt with other customers), although when they get around to you it is always personal and helpful. read more

Had a 50/50 experience with this firm. As part of my house refurbishment we chose to install Banham door furniture & fittings, to enhance our front entrance door. We chose them, based on their reputation for quality, but this was before I had read any reviews about their (lack of) service. All the fixtures and fittings were only viewable online and even when their sales rep came in person to discuss the works, in hindsight, one downside was that no samples were ever available to physically see prior to installation. We placed an order, had all the items fitted, but then noticed that one fixture appeared oversized and out of proportion with the door. I called the rep back the same day to ask about changing this one item and gave my reasons. Didn't get any definite answer to my query. Then got the final invoice, which I stupidly paid for without getting my query resolved. It's now been over two months and still nobody has had the professional courtesy to address my query. The lesson learned is Banham market themselves as providing a good product, which to be fair I think it is, but their aftersales service, in my experience is abysmal! And they charge a hell of a premium for it! The business attitude they seem to have is, once they have got your money don't expect much from them after that. So, if you're considering buying products or services from them, make sure your 100% happy with everything, before paying the final invoice. Considering the significant amount of money they charge for their products and installation, I am extremely disappointed at their after sales. They have shown a complete disdain for customers. So don't rush to pay them, as you wont hear from them after you have paid them!! Be very wary, check you like what you have and it all works, before paying them. To date, I still haven't had a response from Banham, regarding my query! So good luck!! read more

I was led to believe that I was buying a top quality intruder alarm system upgrade and that Banhams provide a quality premium service, which then justified the premium price tag. In reality, they provided an incomplete installation which meant we could not close and secure our back door properly and could not set the alarm. I telephoned Banhams the next day and raised a formal complaint on the call and followed it up in writing by email. The Finance team are not contactable directly and never responded to any of the 6 contacts I made to them via their contact form and messages left with customer services. They raised an invoice to pay an annual fee upfront when it was quoted as payable monthly and then, after it had been agreed that this was in error and needed to be changed, sent me a threatening letter demanding immediate payment of the invoice for the full amount. My formal complaint was ignored for 50 days until I escalated it myself. The manager of the installations team completely ignored my complaint, closed the ticket without responding, and allegedly arranged for an engineer to attend our property to sort out why the system was not operating properly, but no engineer turned up. My complaint was finally dealt with by the Head of installations who conducted our correspondence entirely by email as he was uncontactable by telephone and chose not to telephone me. He refused to provide a breakdown of the installation costs which has led me to believe that Banhams significantly overcharge their customers for the products they install. One example is that a contact sensor is available directly from their supplier online for £9.99, whereas Banhams seem to charge well over £100 for the item, before installation costs. Even after removing the cost of one item which we never asked to be installed and providing a 20% discount, I am left to believe that I have been massively overcharged for the installation. Banhams recognised that their customer service had been dreadful and discounted my service fee as a result. I am left believing that I have paid far too much for a straightforward installation of overpriced components. They seem to charge premium prices for a sub-standard service. Customer Relations and the Banhams MD were copied in on all the correspondence and made no contribution to the complaints process. I contacted customer services on the telephone on 3 separate occasions and was promised someone would come back to me within 24 hours, but this never happened on any occasion. read more

I swear by these guys & on my last 2 house moves have got them in within 24 hours of moving in. They are pricey, but their service is excellent, in both installation & servicing. I have both locks & alarms by Banham and feel confident (as much as you can be) that my house is safe. I also think the Banham logo is a great deterrent as everyone knows its a mark of quality. They're also really thorough on keyholders, linking up with the police & producing extra keys. Plus they provide tailored advice on securing your property. The shop itself is a bit of an oddity - looks like something out of the 70s - and hides the somewhat pricey nature of the business. Its always busy and you have to wait, but its definitely worth it. read more

Banham locks are worth the money. Their locksmiths are highly professional and courteous, and the locks really look the part. Case in point: Someone broke into our block of flats though the flimsy communal door. The door to our flat (with a Banham lock) was right next to our neighbour's door (with a non-Banham lock). The burglar chose to kick our neighbour's door down and leave our flat untouched. They stole his CDs, alcohol, and his socks. read more

Do not use this company! Whilst they may appear as a well established reputable company, we found out the hard way, they're not. They have caused damage to our property, are disrespectful, dis-honest, provide exceptionally rude and unprofessional after care, or a lack of it. Despite them causing the damage to our property and us making a reasonable request for them to cover the £300 for the original vendor to repair their damage, they are unwilling to accept this and continue to send us reminder bills, despite knowing we are unhappy with their work and the complaint remains outstanding. Please don't make the same mistake we did. read more

Very good equipment re. door locks. Impossible to recommend the alarm system, since it means dealing with the company which appears to run on little more than post-it notes, a wing and a prayer. The sales team, the accounts team, the service team and the maintenance team simply have no link to what the others are doing. The end result is utter chaos for the customer, with hours wasted on the phone for basic things. "Ah, you need to speak to customer service", " Oh no, you need to speak to Accounts", "Thats not our area, have you tried speaking to Sales ?". So yes, the alarm equipment is reasonable, but once you've dealt with the company once (or should I say all the companies - Sales, maintenance, legal, accounts, and service) - I would be very surprised if you'll ever buy an alarm from them again. Good luck ! read more

The actual equipment is extremely high quality for both alarms and locks. Definitely some of the best around and a superb deterrent. The service, and gaps between sales and fitting teams are utterly attrocious. Salesmen saying one thing, fitters turning up and only then saying they need decorators in first, decorators turning up, fitters back, then fitters saying they need BT in... who knows where it ends. So all in all pricey, well put together but customer service rather like something out of fawlty towers... Still I'd advise using their equipment, but just expect somewhat third world service ! read more

We have had an alarm with Banhams for several years. However, there have been several instances of less than great service, failed service visits when they ask you to wait in for 5 hours and don't turn up, batteries not changed as they did not have a tall enough ladder "but don't worry - they will be changed next time", failure to request the code when the alarm goes off etc etc etc. Notice was given to Banham both on the phone and in writing and a service visit was requested to change the engineers code on the panel so that the new company could access it. A visit had already been schedules some weeks previous. They immediately cancelled the monitoring and the service visit that was due. They did not give any notice that the service was cancelled so another day was wasted waiting for them. Of course, if I would not have been there I they would have charged me anyway. They have left our alarm unmonitored for over a month, possibly invalidating our insurance and leaving my family unprotected. They are all sweetness and light when you want to get a new system installed but the service from them upon cancellation has been shockingly bad. If I call them they ask me to put it in writing and if I write to them I get a generic response that my complaint is being looked in to. We have banham alarms on several office buildings and we are now changing them all to Securifix who have been amazing. I would not recommend Banham to anyone. read more

I have something very similar to the L2000 Rim Deadbolt. After about 3 years the handle has snapped off as it's made from a cheap material and then attached to the rest of the housing. I emailed Banham but unfortunately they have not even bothered to respond. When you consider that the lock and keys cost over £300 you'd hope for more than 3 years of service! read more

I have been a customer for nine years, paying all my bills on time, including a maintenance part. Last month, the alarm started to go hay-wire and started to call the alarm receiving centre every thirty seconds and running up a massive phone bill. Did Banham apologise profusely, send round an engineer free of charge and offer to pay me back for the phone bill? After all, I have been a customer for nine years, they have been maintaining the alarm throughout and charging me for it. Or did they instead charge me a fortune for sending round an engineer and hide between the T&C to refuse to pay back the phone bill? Well, it's a one star review, and I'm leaving them... read more

Terrible customer service. Quoted me for a job and then after they had done the work tried to charge me over £200 more. They admitted it was their error that they misquoted but still thought it was appropriate to expect me to pay for their error! I have disputed but they are holding the line so I have had to contact Citizens Advice Bureau for help as to what to do next. Completely unethical way to conduct business, we are very disappointed as we expected better from such a well known company. Since having all these issues I have found so many negative experiences others have had with their service and am so disappointed that I didn't see these before we booked with them. No issues with the locks themselves and the gentleman that came out to fit the locks was perfectly pleasant. They don't leave the door in an acceptable state, often with big holes and the letterbox they said they couldn't fit so just left it for someone else to fit. As it happened we had builders in completing other works but if you are expecting them to leave your door without big holes in etc then you will be disappointed. (Obviously it depends what locks they are replacing!). read more

I bought a house with Banham keys, so travelled all the way to Earlsfield to their head office to get keys cut (having sought the 3 pieces of identification I needed!!). Paid £27.58 to get two keys cut, neither worked. I then posted them the two with the original to get them recut, and mysteriously they got "lost in the post". I have since been emailing back and forth to find a resolution and their very unfriendly and unhelpful team have finally offered, out of the goodness of the hearts to recut two keys free of charge. WHICH IS THE MINIMUM THEY SHOULD GIVE ME given the two keys they cut originally and I paid for were faulty! I asked them to cut a third (given I "lost" 3 keys in the post), but they said no, and have not offered any proper gesture of good will (or heaven forbid a refund!). AND I have to go back to Earlsfield - what a pain! read more

Quality company, we called out a locksmith from Banham, it was 3 o'clock in the morning and freezing cold, having been on a night out my housemate lost our keys and we were only in t shirts. An employee from Banham turned up promptly, and even let us wait in the van whilst he worked so we could get warm. Would recommend to anyone! read more

Banham locks and alarm in my house have always been my ambition, the surveyor for wandsworth was ok but when he left I browsed options on their website he didn't mention but I wanted. He chased and chased after the quote and then I felt was hard to get hold of once I paid my deposit and commited. Quality products but I found a few of their head office staff a bit rude and rushed sounding. ADT are just as good if not better I hear but oh well read more

The worst company I have ever had to deal with. Staff are rude and sarcastic and make the simplest of tasks (in my case getting a spare key cut) so difficult. I'm 3 weeks into attempting to purchase a spare key for my house and no idea as to when/if this will happen. So far I have passed to them confidential information and completed various forms but still no clarification with regard to actually getting the key cut! Lots of sarcastic emails though and conflicting instructions. Life is far too short for this sort of nonsense. AVOID! read more

I decided to splash out on a Banham lock after moving to a basement flat. I knew the lock was expensive £140 plus vat (approx 161), but then Banham charge very little on top for the actual fitting. All in all I paid £210 including 2 extra keys at £14 each. The fitting took just under 2 hours the locksmith was extremely helpful and readjusted my door's deadbolts for free, then checked the backdoor and gave advice. Excellent service. When I got a quote for an ordinary Yale lock plus fitting it was about £180, but then we are talking London prices! Very happy I went for Banham. read more

Great locksmiths but the head office have diabolical level of customer service. We recently had panic bolts installed to our doors. The installation went well - we found the engineer to be friendly, efficient and the work was carried out to a good standard. Unfortunately two months on we're waiting for our invoice to be raised. They're yet to respond to any email or telephone calls, I've found the team to be curt with a 'don't care' attitude. I was even spoken sarcastically to by an employee named Tony - I honestly don't understand how they are able to run a successful business while having rude and inefficient admin staff. It's made me never want to use this company again - not worth the time or effort. read more

If you should wish to obtain copy keys to your own property from Banhams then not only do you need your gold card, proof of identity and address, and the keys them selves but also clear evidence that you own your property (the deeds will do). Without all of this jobsworths are at their best. There does not appear to be any way of checking their own database to see if the information on the database matches the passports and bills giving the address and the names of the individuals standing in front of them. For years I have avoided contact after another particularly unsatisfactory conversation with customer services during which I was told that I was " the most vile person I have ever dealt with". The company is proud of it's reputation and it's products are good but the service levels are at best appalling with the exception of the burglar alarm engineers who seem to be an entirely different breed. read more

The actual Banham alarm, locks and installation engineers are brilliant, but once you have to speak to someone in accounts then you're in trouble! The service is terrible, their staff are rude and there is no apology on their behalf for mistakes that they have made. I have been invoiced incorrectly twice and despite trying to explain to the woman in plain English that since I have already paid the deposit, that only the remainder of the total cost need be paid. Therefore she only needs to do a simple calculation to deduct the deposit from the total and include the VAT on that new total. However, she still sent me another invoice with the total cost which did not take into account the deposit! Incompetency can be forgiven if there is an apology for it, but when incompetency is served with insolence and arrogance, then frankly one would be better served elsewhere. read more

Banhams are the thieves you need to watch out for! My lock broke just past the 1 year warranty period. They told me that it couldn't be fixed and I needed to buy a new one for 168GBP. I am certain that this lock is faulty. They told me that it had been treated with duress which is impossible considering it has been fitted on a Dorma automatic door. A 1 year warranty for a 168GBP lock is ridiculous. This company is over-rated and acts like a monopoly. The service staff in High Street Ken is appauling, they answered back with lies and excuses telling me to speak to head office. This company isn't flexible. I own a Hotel and 22 rental houses and have had problems with a 4 of the locks which I bought from them, I will never use a Banahams lock again. read more

I have always used Banham for my home security. Recently, I had a full house refurbishment and decided to upgrade my security system. From the very first call I made, I found all the Banham staff involved: customer survey ,surveyors, engineers, carpenters and fitters all very professional. They turned up on time, were all extremely courteous and liaised well with the existing builders on site. I'm very happy with the look and the quality of both my locks and my new alarm system. I will always use Banham. I have used their key holding service for years, which is worth its weight in gold. I like the fact that only I can get keys cut so I know that there are no duplicates I don't know of. read more

Banham engineers are very good and helpful. However try to discuss a compliant with customer service, talk to accounts or any other issue with them and you wont even be provided a name. The whole service culture in this business is lacking once you get into the back office. Note how not a single managers name is on its website, and despite asking multiple times I have never been provided the name of the MD or FD to whom I wished to address a complaint. I would seriously look at other providers first. read more

We recently had our home security updated by Banham Patent Locks. A brilliant service, I would highly recommend. Everything, from survey to installation, was done very quickly following my initial call. All the Banham staff we met were clearly very professional and knowledgeable and very friendly. for the cost of the locks that I had installed, must say I'm not impressed, within 3 weeks the handle had snapped off (luckily was still under warranty) but a further 6 weeks after this the snib or snip had come outwhich once again had to be done under the warranty for the money I paid for this lock I would expect something a bit more robust, even the bloody plating is wearing off! even considering going back to my old Yale lock read more
