Cheese!! I love cheese!!…read more I was like a bee to honey when I arrived in Hamburg, Germany. Dropped my bags off at my friend's apartment and made my way to the hip and happening "Schanze". You can find tons of coffee shops and eateries as well as shopping. Restaurants typically have large picnic tables in the front of their establishments. As I walked around I spotted some tables with almost allll the people eating these large salads with large white disc on top. Popular item for sure!! After airport food and plane food I was in the mood for veg. Turns out the salads are fresh chopped in vegetables like tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumber and large spicy beans with greens and a dressing and topped with circular bread cut outs with circular disc of goat cheese heated up and drizzled with honey! Literally one of the best salads of my life. I ordered the city's fave beer Astra. I got a bread basket with three little slices to sop up the leftover juices. Thrilled over salad! Who would have thought the salad would bring me such happiness. Something so simple has found its way to my food memories and heart! It was so freaking delicious that I returned for another round and this time with a Kristallweizen to compliment my meal. Nothing could stop me. Even the threat of rain, I enjoyed one more salad feasting on the Schanze. Vielen Dank! Es war super lecker! This place is popular but it's worth the wait and if you live here, buy allllll the cheese. Brunös knows what's up.
Excellent cheese shop in the heart of the Schanze, who really do have a bit of everything,…read moreincluding cheddar. I was here to buy fondue bergkäse and, although not cheap, was bloody excellent. I also learnt a new German word, würzig, which I guess means, "cheesy"! How würzig would you like this, sir? Very!
